Tariq j Posted June 22 Posted June 22 I’m sure it will be good but it is a bit of a dull choice seen we’ve had quite a few versions so far. Would have been cool to get something more related to the Ministry. Quote

But I guess it’s good that I can put this off till Double Points if it ends up being good. I can sort of understand why they wouldn’t want to do Umbridge’s office – the D2C itself will certainly include her Ministry version, so a castle module with pretty much the same decor would fall a little flat. The annoying thing is, there’s other OotP stuff they could do to keep with the connected theme they’ve had going the last few years. We haven’t gotten the DA training room version of the RoR in this castle system yet, and I think a module of that accompanied by Seamus Finnigan and his fox patronus would have been extremely popular. Plus, by my count, we’ve had four different microscale Hogwarts Castles of various sizes since the reboot – the subject is getting a little stale. Hopefully, we’ll get some sort of unique minifigure to compensate. Quote
Accio Lego Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Okay, so I hate to double post, but since it’s been over a day – I was thinking about how Lego could potentially carry the anniversary patronus gimmick into a microscale Hogwarts. Currently, there are only 3 unused patronuses that are both known and preexisting Lego molds: Ginny’s Horse, Seamus’s Fox, and Aberforth’s Goat. Ginny’s horse is out because it would probably be too expensive to recolor something that large for a gwp (same reason there wouldn’t be a new animal), which leaves the fox and goat. Seamus doesn’t seem likely for a microscale castle, and Aberforth doesn’t seem so either under normal circumstances, but what about a battle damaged version from the final movie? It would set the gwp apart from the other two microscale castles (that are still available for purchase!) and since Aberforth dramatically fights off dementors on the aqueduct bridge, Lego could reuse a reasonably rare minifigure (that’s still in production) and also include his goat patronus. It would be a cool way to make the gwp actually different from other versions of the same subject, and also make it desirable for collectors. Quote

In the end the patroni are collectables included in the sets, so I really doubt they would include one in a very timelimited set. Quote

A valid argument – however, as a counter: for the 20th anniversary of Star Wars sets Lego released 6 throwback minifigures – one of which, Obi-Wan Kenobi, was only available in a polybag as a gwp (although I think they eventually sold him through s@h in some countries). So, unfortunately, Lego is not above such shenanigans. I do think you’re generally right though, but it would be nice if we could get something a little different if Lego is going to insist on giving us yet another micro Hogwarts. I do still hope that we get more additions to the anniversary patronus line though, and since the golden minifigure gimmick from the 20th extended into the D2C, so I still have hope for the Ministry. (I really mostly just want Ginny’s horse to round out the last of the known Ministry Six, but a weasel and/or lynx would be super cool too) Quote

If it would be about which one is probably the easiest to make it would probably be the goat, but would make the least sense for this location. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Yeah, a patronus in the GWP set would make little to no sense for multiple reasons. As @Black Falcon said, GWPs are time-limited, unlike the other anniversary sets. Moreover, a new recolour is more expensive than a new print, so that’s out of the question for a GWP. And finally, none of the remaining patroni really fit for a microscale Hogwarts. The MoM on the other hand has potential! They could even include multiple patroni here, if they wanted Quote

Best bet would be Ginny's horse and the MoM will definitely have the budget for that recolor if they want to continue them. She exists in those scenes and the rest of the primary characters have a patronus already out there. Quote

That said, with the Ministry location taken into account Arthur’s weasel and Kingsley’s lynx are also distinct possibilities. Given that out of a so far 8 patronus set we’ve only gotten 2.5 new molds it doesn’t seem crazy to potentially expect another, and given the fact that the Hogwarts Icons set included 3 golden minifigures the Ministry having more than one patronus doesn’t seem outside the realm of possibilities either. We’ll just have to wait for more leaks at this point. Given the amount of August set info that’s been coming out and the fact we just finally found out what the Harry Potter gwp is, Ministry details could leak at any time Quote

hoiharry Posted June 26 Posted June 26 After building the new basilisk, it is absolutely my favourite version. I like that is has no chunky middle section anymore and I love how smooth it moves between the pieces. Just like a snake should. Quote

While I prefer the olive green colour scheme of the 2021 version, this one looks better, is ridiculously poseable, and just plain fun to play around with! Quote
RODDY Posted June 27 Posted June 27 I think my favorite part of the new Basilisk and Fawkes molds is that with a little effort you can have Fawkes standing on top of the Basilisk’s head so you can have Fawkes blinding out the Basilisk’s eyes! https://ibb.co/rfm1WmCv Quote

It’s so hard to hold out for Back to Hogwarts or a sale! I finally just ordered the Main Tower Quote

Yea I don’t know how you and others have the sheer will power to wait for Back to Hogwarts but I respect it, I wish I had that restraint. Enjoy the Main Tower, sets a beast make sure you got plenty of room for it! Quote
hoiharry Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Continuing the build of the east wing, I will say that overal I really like it. But I do feel that the build is a little bit messy in some small parts. And in the girls bathroom, I really don't like the big gap between the right mirror and the white pillar next to it. The previous version was definitely better. So I will probably change out the bathroom for something else, but I don't k ow what yet. If anyone has some good suggestions, let me know. Quote
chris6507 Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I keep seeing pictures online of people connecting the Hospital Wing to the East Wing, but can't really figure out how to connect it. Does anybody know any links that show how you achieve this? Thanks. Quote

It still looks pretty good tho :) Quote
RODDY Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I have come bearing bad news… Two 2027 Lego Harry Potter set names have leaked. Dobby Meets Harry and First Year at Hogwarts. First Year at Hogwarts is said to be yet another Philosopher’s Stone Great Hall at $110 based on the movie, oddly enough not the TV Show. RIP the Most Detailed Hogwarts System, you were a true beauty. Quote

While the Harry and Dobby set is obviously movie based – I'll believe that First Year at Hogwarts Castle set isn’t show based when I see it. Leakers are notorious at getting Harry Potter details wrong, remember when ‘Cornelius Fudge’ was going the come with the Triwizard Arrival set and it turned out whoever did the leak simply didn’t recognize Crouch – the actual Ministry official who was there for that scene? Yea that makes sense, it would be hard to differentiate between movie and tv show based Great Hall especially if they use the old Hogwarts exterior in the TV show to the casual eye. Gryffindor Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I could be completely off, but the way the name of the set is not very specific leads me to believe it’s more of a display piece than a play set. I’m picturing either a microscale depiction of key scenes from the first movie (which is overdone at this point), or some sort of diorama. Possibly a book nook or art set. It just seems odd to title a set “First Year at Hogwarts Castle” if it only depicts the Great Hall, you know? A name like that feels like it should be all-encompassing of all the Hogwarts events/scenes from the first movie. And if it really is the Great Hall and based on the first movie, it’ll probably be the sorting ceremony, which is weird considering a $15 sorting ceremony set is currently on shelves. As for Harry Meets Dobby, I guess we’re just getting a $15 version of Harry’s (or should I say, Dudley’s second) bedroom? That seems a bit boring. Not sure what else it could be unless it’s some sort of gimmick or diorama or art thing. If they really wanted to create a $15 set with Dobby, I feel like a remake of Dobby’s Release would have been a better choice. But for $15, I’ll probably get it anyway unless it’s really dumb. Fingers crossed we get some sets for the third movie and on (especially fifth and on) because I’m getting tired of sets mostly being from the first two movies. Quote
Roebuck Posted July 2 Posted July 2 At first glance the set names sounded like something from the new series to me, but I guess Dobby show up in next season. My guess is that there is a 50-50 chance they make set for the series now or wait and see if it is popular enough before they do it. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted July 2 Posted July 2 The Dobby set is clearly movie-based, but it could go either way with the Hogwarts set. That said, I’ll be cackling like a madman if they actually continue with movie sets only like I predicted before, because it’s the far safer route Quote
