Personally thinking since it’s been confirmed Tonks & Mad Eye who have blink and you’ll miss it appearances at the Ministry of Magic Battle in the movie, at the very least we have to get the rest of the Order of The Phoneix members that show up. Lupin, Sirius, and Arthur to me have to be here since they have more prominent screen time. Kingsley is very likely too since he makes similar screen time as Moody & Tonks in the battle. So that brings the fig count up to 10 from the 6 confirmed. Then you have 3 more with the trio that’s 13. You are going to need Lucius and a couple of Death Eaters whenever Belatrix is there is to be seen so that’s 16. Fudge ofc too that’s 17. And that’s just the bare minimum we are already at 17. Nevertheless the Silver Trio which honestly I’d prefer to the more background OoTP members or Percy or Amelia Bones. The more I think about it, the more 10+ minifigs is really understating it which is great cause it needs the minifigs to justify its price.

Until we see 4x VIP points or clearance on Hogsmeade like we did the Collector’s Edition Hogwarts Express, I don’t think we can see definitively if that’s selling well or not. Besides we are a small chunk of LEGO’s fan base and from what I’ve seen from more general and Christmas Village Collectors, sets been pretty well received. HECK YEAH MS FIGG…you know what maybe I should stop yapping about the $450 price tag, maybe it’s justified afterall. Non sarcastically I was really hoping to get her so this is very great.

No hat mold is wild especially when he is seen wearing the hat in that scene. Imagine the hat mold in that violet color it would have been sick. I understand the face because they are supposed to be the same character in universe but I’m still not happy with it lmao.

Idk I was expecting $400 myself with it only being a couple hundred pieces more than Hogsmeade which was already overpriced as is as much as I love that set. And I understand the war to an extent but the way they’ve been pushing it imo feels like they are trying the Star Wars method of seeing just how far they can get away with pricing. Cloth piece though is a good point, maybe with that and more minifigs, the price hike could be somewhat justified. I guess spending $50 more isn’t a huge deal when you are already spending $400 but when you notice the trend with Hogsmeade being $50 overpriced and for no good reason (no big pieces or cloth)and then this year adding another $50 ontop of that, it feels less like the war and more so them testing their pricing as of rn. The new Castle System has been confirmed to be based on the movies again, Lego is probably waiting to see how the TV show does which is fair. So I would assume another three year cycle, which would fall right after the second season, optimal for them and their love for the first two books if they decide to do a TV show castle. I do find your idea of splitting sets interesting but very possible as of right now the First Year of Hogwarts is only just the Great Hall. Maybe they’ll split that up and the Main Tower again like they did this system but at half the cost and without the rock face. Same with the Astronomy Tower and the East Wing. And ofc they could throw in some other locations too. Like a Whomping Willow that is by itself and could be compatible to both systems like the Owlery last system.

What is up with the pricing this year? First Knockturn Alley, now this. Miss me with the Star Wars pricing. If this doesn’t come with more figs than the East Wing at almost twice the price, I think it’s a bust.

Same give me an Inferi Cave, pull the plug, bring back Indiana Jones for a couple of years, I’ll be a happy camper.
-
If this year is any indication of the general direction of the amount of traditional playsets with only 6 playsets, then we will probably get just a remake of the 2018 wave with maybe a set from the later movies if we are lucky (Looking at you Inferi Cave, East Wing had our first bloody minifigure since 2008 and a hanging petrified cat, no reason you aren’t too macabre now). Another playscale Hogwarts Express, Aragog, Hagrid’s Hut all seem like shoe ins. Overdue for a Quidditch Pitch even if the last one didn’t sell that well. Maybe a smaller Hogwarts add on like the 2018 Whomping Willow set. Or even a playscale Burrow since the Collector’s Edition one is retiring end of year. And thats pretty much it. I do hope I’m wrong and they sneak in some more later book sets that we haven’t got yet to keep those of us who aren’t buying in yet another Hogwarts system interested. But even then the options are slimming. I’d imagine Lego doesn’t want to do the Deathly Hallows tent to keep the Doe Patronus exclusive to the East Wing so we won’t see that till after the East Wing retires next year. Could def see remakes of the Goblet of Fire Tasks it’s going to be 8 years since the last First and Third Tasks. There’s stuff like Shell Cottage and Godrics Hollows but those seem like long shots. Idk the future of the theme seems a bit like we scrapping the bottom of the barrel?
-
The 2018 system is a great castle system and is imo the best bang for your buck system. I especially liked their focus on Goblet of Fire through Half Blood Prince. So if it’s anything like that system, it’s a great gateway to get people into the theme. Personally won’t be getting myself, I think despite the Most Detailed Hogwarts being short an Astronomy Tower, I’m still more than happy with what we got and don’t think there’s much more a future Hogwarts system could do to get me to buy another.

Ngl I kinda wish it was her Wizengamot robes, we’ve had three Umbridge variants since the reboot and I would have liked a more unique look of hers here.
-
Yea that makes sense, it would be hard to differentiate between movie and tv show based Great Hall especially if they use the old Hogwarts exterior in the TV show to the casual eye.
-
I have come bearing bad news… Two 2027 Lego Harry Potter set names have leaked. Dobby Meets Harry and First Year at Hogwarts. First Year at Hogwarts is said to be yet another Philosopher’s Stone Great Hall at $110 based on the movie, oddly enough not the TV Show. RIP the Most Detailed Hogwarts System, you were a true beauty.
-
Ty! Yea I don’t know how you and others have the sheer will power to wait for Back to Hogwarts but I respect it, I wish I had that restraint. Enjoy the Main Tower, sets a beast make sure you got plenty of room for it!

I think my favorite part of the new Basilisk and Fawkes molds is that with a little effort you can have Fawkes standing on top of the Basilisk’s head so you can have Fawkes blinding out the Basilisk’s eyes! https://ibb.co/rfm1WmCv

So disappointing, really should have have been our chance to get Umbridge’s Office if the Most Detailed Hogwarts line is truly finished. But I guess it’s good that I can put this off till Double Points if it ends up being good.

I wonder if this is a nod to young Hagrid and Aragog or Hermione reading up on Spiders in the library. I went to my Lego Store today right after the Minas Tirith party at 9am and they let me right in and was able to pickup the East Wing without waiting in line till 10! Super stoked to finally have this set in hand.
-
I think reviewers have prioritized Mina’s Tirith and Disney Main Street over the HP stuff :( But tbf there’s a crazy amount of Lego sets coming out Monday so I do get it.

This layout really does feel like it’s the complete form and they won’t be adding more to it.

ONE MORE WEEK TILL THE RELEASE OF THE EAST WING, GIVE IT UP FOR ONE MORE WEEK!
-
I was just stating that Polyjuice Hermoine exists in the East Wing which original comment denied even existed. Sure the old one is significantly better I won’t deny it but to compare it to the drivers helmet is not an apt comparison because the helmet is still readily in production. The cat headpiece is currently out of production so they’d need the budget to resurrect it again. So I’m fine with the face if it means we don’t have sacrifice say Ms. Norris for it.
-
Ontop of that Hermoine does actually come with her Polyjuice cat form, she has a double sided face print.

Yea I feel like 2 16x32’s would be the longest they could do it at without it looking wonky. I always imagined the layout would be similar to Arkham, inverted corner with the fountain where the steps are and a green arch to separate the lobby from the atrium where all the flume networks replacing the Arkham sign. No closed backs because it’s not supposed to be a modular and you can add extra pieces to the height. It’s gonna be interesting to see how they execute this set, as much as I always wanted a D2C Ministry, the layout is really going to make or break this one.

My sides Now that’s out of the way, it’s not defending Lego it’s acknowledging that Lego is a corporation at the end of the day, and they are going to corporate. For better or for worse. Expecting Lego to not corporate is like expecting my Bassett Hound to become a marathon sprinter. It’s simply acknowledging that there will be things that are cut and we are not going to have an all inclusive package. It’s the system we live in unfortunately. In an ideal world, yea not only would I love Pomfrey but I’d love Boggart Snape and Neville in my Hospital Wing. But I realize it’s just not gonna happen and expecting it to happen really just leads to disappointment in the end. It’s why the Hogwarts system gets rebooted every three years and there’s different rooms in each one that makes you feel compelled to buy it. A good example is the Challenges from Philosopher’s Stone. It’s why the 2018 Great Hall came only with the Mirror of Erised, the 2021 came only with Fluffy’s Encounter and Devil’s Snare, and in 2025 after investing in two systems they finally decide to give all the Challenges by some miracle. And that’s such a pivotal bunch of scenes being the climax of arguably the most popular Harry Potter film, it’s crazy it took them 20 years to include them all. There will never be a complete Hogwarts for this exact reason, nevertheless a complete Hogwarts minifigure lineup. 2021 Hogwarts Castle minifigure lineup was missing McMonagall, and Quirell which are far more egregious exclusions than Pomfrey and Pince. But you constantly talk about how it’s a better system than 2024. Phones are such a funny example because I’ll point to the headphone jack being omitted from latter year IPhones that forced you to not only go out and buy headphones but forced you to buy Apple specific products to supplement them. You couldn’t use just any old headphones but you needed to pay the extra $30 for wired ones that were not as good as other headphones. And if you want the better Air Pods? Try $200 more ontop of spending $1000+ on a phone. Or be a Neanderthal and listen to music out in the public. So no this isn’t a Lego exclusive problem at all, far from it. Lego is nowhere near as bad as other companies are. 100% this although I don’t think it’s a cynical take it’s the realistic one. Enjoy what you can while you can.
-
Yea the only other real draw to that set minifig wise is Pajama Neville because it’s a unique variant we never got but everything else is pretty run of the mill. Still a phenomenal set but it’s def one you go for the build rather than the figs.
-
If you are going to include a Common Room in a set, I think it makes perfect sense to also include at least a student from that house to inhabit it. Pomfrey is nowhere to be seen during the PoA Hospital Wing scene and Hermoine can inhabit the Hospital Wing with her time turner. Personally I’ll take Snape over Pince in the Library for the Doe Patronus, I bought Pince for $10 and I doubt the Doe goes for anything less than $20 at least imo. I think Millicent I could have sacrificed for Pince because I don’t think she shows up on screen in COS, just mentioned. Where Pince is at the Teacher’s Table. But regardless I do think it’s neat she’s included cause it’s a deep cut to that line Hermoine says. So I could go either way. The other thing to note with Pomfrey and Pince is they would need more budget to resurrect their retired hat pieces, so we would have lost something else to have them included whenever it may be an animal in the East Wing or what not. Quirell to me is a non issue because if you are buying one of the Great Hall or Main Tower, you are most likely definitely buying the other so you won’t miss him. Main Tower looks okay on its own and the Great Hall isn’t that good by itself but they look incredible together. Quirell is just as important to both sets, the Mirror of Erised reveal for the Main Tower and the fainting in the Great Hall scene. So doesn’t really bother me where him or Kettleburn are included. Either way Pomfrey and Pince are $10 background characters I don’t think it’s particularly something to get bent out of shape about.

Nope unique face print, dual molded legs, arm printing the works and nothing short of that!
