Gorilla94 Posted May 27 Posted May 27 (edited) I really don't get why lego is again and again releasing non-integrated sets into their modular lines. They could have at least skipped the flying lesson and instead given us something like the hospital wing nonnectable to the east wing to complete the siluette. Then there would really just be the astronomy tower missing. Edited May 27 by Gorilla94 Quote

Virginia_Bricks Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Kind of crazy that the sets are now out in the wild due to early release by retailers and there still isn't a single youtube review besides JB Spielwaren. Quote

I think reviewers have prioritized Mina’s Tirith and Disney Main Street over the HP stuff :( But tbf there’s a crazy amount of Lego sets coming out Monday so I do get it. Edited May 28 by RODDY Quote
mark1991t Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Only review I can find at the moment for the East Wing. Its in Polish, but auto-translate is very good I think. It shows the whole set-up at the end. As per today, instructions are available at LEGO.com. Some things that stood out to me and I think aren't mentioned till now: (I can be wrong offcourse) - The Hand of Glory in Borgin and Burkes can be moved via a playfunction. - In Borgin and Burkes in a display case next to the checkout is a Pirates of the Caribean-coin. - In Hogwarts East Wing, there is a toilet-build inside the toiletstall. - In Hogwarts East Wing, there is a secret spider with stickered pamflet in a turret above an hidden empty space in the library. On reddit some users already have the East Wing build and attached to the rest of the castle: - Example one. - Example two. Also a reddit user has build Borgin and Burkes already and combined it with the GWP from 2024: - Here. Quote
(1)Stein Posted June 1 Author Posted June 1 So these are the sets that are still available to make The Most Detailed Hogwarts Castle Quote

I wonder if this is a nod to young Hagrid and Aragog or Hermione reading up on Spiders in the library. I went to my Lego Store today right after the Minas Tirith party at 9am and they let me right in and was able to pickup the East Wing without waiting in line till 10! Super stoked to finally have this set in hand. Edited June 1 by RODDY Quote

I’m going to have to wait for my East Wing, as funds are tight at the moment. I also have run out of space. It’s a shame that it looks like this is the end of this run of the castle, and we have at least 2 sets which don’t seem to have anywhere to fit. Quote
Accio Lego Posted June 1 Posted June 1 A preliminary image of one of the Shrek minifigure sets has leaked. Shrek uses a similar format to Hagrid, to the point where I could easily see his torso being usable for a version of Hagrid without his overcoat (provided the head is a separate part, not enough info to weigh in on that yet). I will be interesting to see if the same technique is used in the upcoming CMF. Quote

The only thing I want at this point from Lego is a solid Crookshanks. Quote
jus1973 Posted June 3 Posted June 3 I’d forgotten about the green house and owlery. I was referring to the hospital wing and flying lessons. I’d love to see how you get on with some of those MOCs etc. I would love to have a go myself, but I only got into the castle to feed my Lego habit with no new builds that fitted my town to build. I’ve quite liked some of the HP castle builds, but have skipped the extra classroom modules etc. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Huh, I didn‘t realise Dobby‘s sock is a cloth piece this time round! This has to be one of the most peculiar cloth pieces ever made! Quote
Accio Lego Posted June 10 Posted June 10 January set info has started leaking (Star Wars and Icons), so we could be seeing some 2027 Harry Potter news in the coming weeks. Probably just set numbers and other metrics before names as usual though. That said, I’m curious to see how the new HBO series will affect the composition of next year’s sets. Quote
brickbride Posted June 11 Posted June 11 (edited) In the meantime the following sets go EOL mid-2026: Gringotts, buildable Hedwig and Fawkes, Hagrid's Motorcycle Accident (good riddance), the Big Turd (good riddance), the Great Hall, and Malfoy Manor. The fact that after Diagon Alley, Gringotts now, too, goes EOL before the D2C Ministry even hits the shelves worries me. If they had intended for the MoM to be compatible with either of those sets wouldn't they have extended Gringotts" run until year's end at the least? Maybe it's compatible to Hogsmeade instead but that would be nonsensical from a story perspective and also mean that the Ministry likely looks like crap. Edited June 11 by brickbride Quote
mark1991t Posted June 11 Posted June 11 How I understand it is that there just are connectionpoints at the same place and the thing probably is at baseplates too. Hogsneade and Diagon Alley are compatible too and storywise doesn't make sence either. I could be completely wrong offcourse. Quote
brickbride Posted June 11 Posted June 11 (edited) They're compatible in the sense that they're both on baseplates, but even LEGO's own official lifestyle pics don't make them look good together. And that's my point - we likely won't get a Ministry now that looks good alongside DA and Gringotts. Even though I think that's what many of us were hoping for. A Gringotts-compatible Ministry could have been amazing. Edited June 11 by brickbride Quote

The locations are both in London, sure, but one is an alley of shops and the other a bunch of underground offices. Using a similar design language would make sense, but I fail to see the point in making them directly connectable, just like Hogsmeade. 14 hours ago, Accio Lego said: That said, I’m curious to see how the new HBO series will affect the composition of next year’s sets. BrickBob Studpants Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Huh, I’m currently building the East Wing and the portrait in the Slytherin common room is Salazar himself Funny coincidink! Quote

Anyone remember approximately when we’ve gotten January set names in the past? It would be very exciting to get those very soon, but I don’t want to get my hopes up yet. January 2027 set names would likely give us a clue if the current Hogwarts system will continue or if it’ll get rebooted again. Unrelated, but now that we have a doe Patronus, I’m hoping they’ll finally make a DH part 1 trio tent camping set with the locket horcrux battle scene! In general, I’d just be really happy the less sets we get from the first two movies (unless it’s something new, like a unicorn in the forest set now that the unicorn from the new cmf exists). Quote

We didn’t start getting details about the Hospital Wing until October and pictures in December. This was the timeline for most of the January sets last year. Quote

chris6507 Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Has anyone seen any MOCs of the Knockturn Alley set to make it compatible with the D2C set? Wondering if I should buy a 2nd copy of the set while it's on special with the hope someone combines 2 to make a bigger one. Unfortunately MOCs are not really within my skill set! :-( Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted June 22 Posted June 22 This year’s GWP is rumoured to be a microscale Hogwarts! Not what I expected, but having it in yet another scale doesn’t sound bad Quote
Black Falcon Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Strange choice IMO and given the many versions we got already, especially with the Hogwarts and Ground Set, I am not sure if that set will be that high in demand compared to something special like the last GWPs we got. Quote

But I guess it’s good that I can put this off till Double Points if it ends up being good. Quote
