I bought Titanic because it really does look great, and the build is amazing. But the Endurance didn't really interest me as I really prefer ships to be minifigure scale so that my children can enjoy playing with them. A pirate ship that's not minifigure scale? No thanks.

But the fact that this is getting a minifigure crew suggests that it should be minifigure scale. All other recent Icons sets that were smaller than minifigure scale didn't include figures. The French Cafe, Fountain Garden, Tranquil Garden, and in Ideas, the River Steamboat has no figures.

Also, related to Endurance and looking at other themes, on the themes pages - Themes | Official LEGO® Shop US - they have pictures of a set with each category. The Endurance is the image used for Ideas. Ha!

They can, and do, change their rules at any time, but I'd be so surprised if the Pearl wasn't a minifig-based set.

Yes, the Titanic is a very nice set and a minifig scale Titanic would be super huge and super expensive.

Given the price of Lotr Shire confirmed today… I think the Pearl might be another sucker punch when it comes out…

I'm excited for the Pearl but the rumored minifigure list is disappointing. Nobody cares about the Anna Maria character, especially if they're snubbing Barbossa, Ragetti and Pintel for her. I'm not sure they'd be a more natural fit for a future Flying Dutchman set either.

If we ever do get a Flying Dutchman set, besides these obvious minifigure omissions, I'd also like to see Tia Dalma and Elizabeth in her Pirate King outfit. I would have preferred the Pearl be based on the third movie so we could get the full cast.

Dunno, she certainly stood out in the first film and many people were disappointed that she did not appear in the next two films. She would be a good LEGO character, albeit rather plain.

So from the rumored 400 bucks down to the 200 bucks? It’s still not a bad deal imho. The original one sold for like $100 bucks and $200 will put it close to barracuda bay sized I hope. They can pull it off. I remembered the Flying Dutchman rumored for 2013 was supposed to be close to $200 also!

They can do it if they use the molds for the hull, if it’s brick built it’s game over

I didn’t know of the rumoured price point when I posted that message. I only thought that TLG know a cashcow when they see one and the Pearl will probably receive the same price inflation treatment as the Shire. Would be happy to be wrong:)

Wait quick questions for you. Where does it say $200? I have only heard $350+ so far. And can you please elaborate on the flying dutchman rumour? I was not actively online back then))) Just want to know what was being said

I was piggybacking on what was said about the Shire being a disappointment for the price per bricks and final set, since it;s close to 200 bucks I guess that’s what he meant.

It was never released, but the next ship in the series was going to be the Flying Dutchman back in 2013, it was on a d2C list and it was said the brick count was close to 2000 pieces.  Everyone thought it was going to be out for sure but the leaks back then pointed towards the pirates 2015 sets

Btw did any play the Potc Lego game? They had some pretty good sweet designs for other ships in the franchise!! Not to mention an idea of what the full sized black pearl would had looked like I think, this ship really needs the torn sails 😍

Ahhh okay thank you. I built MaroonedMarin's gorgeous Black Pearl and am building simone_ve84's Queen Annes revenge right now. I've been looking for a reasonable sized flying dutchman with instructions and a parts list but alas nothing... The one in game is perfect!! Was looking at a render of it a few days ago actually))) The game is my favorite Lego one.

According to people on the Bricktap server, the Black Pearl will be accompanied by a GWP set, but it’ll be one of the cheaper yellow box ones (so no exclusive prints or anything). Best to keep expectations low then! :shrug_oh_well: My guess is the dinky sinking boat that Jack arrives in

Nah. Jack’s compass is the lowest my expectations could get.

I'd seen a video on YouTube a couple of days ago suggesting that POTC is going to have another two sets released after this set and they are both going to be larger scale ships like The Black Pearl.  Firstly is this true and secondly what do you think the other two ships will be?  I think The Flying Dutchman is obvious but the third ship not so much.

The Dauntless would be cool. It's based on the H.M.S. Victory, the oldest commissioned ship. Victory is notable for numerous engagements, perhaps most famous for being Lord Admiral Nelson's flagship in the Battle of Trafalgar. It's a 104 gun first rate ship of the line, and as stated served as the inspiration for the Dauntless in the POTC movies. While a ship of that size 1) would never have been on station in the Carribean (historically too large, heavy for Carribean waters, and important/needed in European theaters) and 2) would me an incredibly ambitious set for Lego to issue, there is no denying it would be cool.

Maybe the person who made the video was confusing the two rumored One Piece ships with PotC?

Edit - Speaking of HMS Victory, Bluebrixx has announced a 1:100 scale display model of it coming soon. https://www.bluebrixx.com/en/bluebrixxspecials/108872/HMS-Victory-BlueBrixx-Pro

Dutchman and maybe uhhhh I'm not really sure. None of the imperial ships are iconic enough. My friends who are mildly interested in PoTC can name the main pirate ships from the theme but doubt they could name any from the rest))) As long as we get a Dutchman that's what matters most. I have been dreaming of one.

That's actually true. They do not play as important a role, especially after the first movie. Interestingly enough, in the first movie, the battle between the Interceptor and the Black Pearl is without question one of the coolest sea battles in film! Even though it's not tactically accurate (How does the Black Pearl stop where it does to exchange a broadside?) in a movie about curses and turning into zombie pirates in the moonlight, I'm willing to forgive a little of that! The way the Interceptor drags its anchor, catches, and then heaves around to get into firing position is so cool!

For what it's worth, I always interpret the Imperial Flagship (6271) as a Lego version of the Interceptor or similar ship.

Here's a thought though: what if they made a model of the Lady Washington, the ship that played the Interceptor in the first movie? I think it's iconic enough IRL that it would work. Or what if they made it a 3-in-1 style set where you could convert the base Lady Washington model into either the Interceptor or the Enterprise from Star Trek: Generations now that they have the Star Trek license? With minifigures for both? (Okay, an expensive proposition, and maybe I'm the only TNG/POTC/LEGO crossover fan out there, and we've got enough expensive sets coming as it is, but I think it's a neat idea.)

The D&D Mimic also had a a yellow box but had exclusive prints ;)

The sinking boat would actually be a pretty cool GWP in my opinion.

You add me on board there! A 2 in 1 licensed set like that would be only a dream, but one worth dresming about.

Bluebrixx offers so many pirate ships and islands, castle sets, battlepacks etc. I hope they grow beyond a point where Lego can not neglect these themes anymore.

Just buy Bluebrixx like I do :pir-triumph:

Their quality is good. Only the minifigs are garbage.

Yeah, but the minifigs are almost always the most important part for me and I rarely buy a set where this is not the case. And since I own basically not a single Lego pirate, the minifigs would be very important.

(I have an eye on a Bluebrixx train though.)
