But wouldn't it then be better to have the name of the ship instead of mentioning the character that he is playing in the name?

Not really because Hollywood can’t do anything new they are simply putting, “interchangeable pirate A onto famous ship black pearl? You remember the black pearl? That’s everyone’s favorite!”.

It’s a dumb technique that modern Hollywood seems to love, as in putting new crew on star ships, or fedoras on others, completely missing the entire point of what made them good, but I’m getting off topic.

It was also a bad move to kill Barbossa in the last movie; Geoffrey Rush & Johnny Depp are the best pirates imaginable.

Disney executives should watch their own movies from time to time; it was after all Jack Sparrow who changed the vessel into a pirate ship and gave its name. Before it was called Wicked Wench. I'd like to see them print that name on the boxes :pir-laugh:

Haha your never, ever seeing that name on a ship or even printed into the little book it’s coming with.

Agreed : Jack Sparrow and Barbossa are like Stan and Laurel. Unseperatable

The new movie is apparently based on the all female script Disney worked about 6 years ago.

Ayo EdebirI is apparently the lead actress and if Depp appears (which he said they would have to pay him 20 mil and an apology) it will likely only be a cameo.

I'm fairly sure that that's been put on the backburner if not cancelled altogether. There were rumors of an all-female spinoff as well as a separate soft reboot (even though 5 was already kind of a soft reboot). Now the latest rumors report that they are focusing on just the latter and scrapping the spinoff altogether for now. I think Bruckheimer said there's a script with Johnny and a version without, and they're just hoping they can work things out and get him on board for Pirates 6 or whatever it may be called :jollyroger:

So I have been away a while guys as couldn't log into my account but I am back now!

Firstly I'd like to say that from the leaked photos I am extremely happy, however I am surprised we haven't any official images yet.  I do believe this set will have at least one lower deck but did someone say on this chat that it didn't?  Personally I think it will and seeing the Lego Harry Potter 'room of requirement' set include lego hammocks I think it would be a missed opportunity to not include them in this set as well.

I am pleased with majority of the minifigures and happy to see Barbossa included but find it strange the leak said Pintel would be included but is now nowhere to be seen.  Also I find it strange that there is no Jack the Monkey next to the minifigures, do you guys think he will still be included or not as Was really exited about getting him??

How likely do you think LEGO will show off the set next 2 weeks? It seems like its always 2 weeks before release and i cannot imagine they would wait too long. It surprises me nothibg else has been revealed. Seems like LEGO loves to leak just enough blury stuff.

It seems like the leaker has the set at their disposal, only refused to take more than three pictures and decided to spread them throughout three days. If it truly be set to release in September, we should be receiving a reveal soon. Unless it will be cancelled same as the Temple of Doom. :pir_wacko:

This is old news now...

Pirates of the Caribbean Executive Producer, Jerry Bruckheimer seems very confident Johnny Depp will return for the next film.

Another claim along those lines hit the news cycle a few days ago.

Bruckheimer was also making  similar claims last year.

Although, let it be noted, nothing has been officially confirmed by anyone.

Hogsmeade which was initially rumoured to be USD 380 ended up being EUR 380 but USD 400. Given that I doubt we'll see the Pearl having as large a price difference across markets as USD 380/EUR 330. Maybe something like USD 380/EUR 360?

Someone on r/LEGOPirates says they heard a rumour that the reveal may come this weekend or next week. So could still be for september 12.

Honestly we're grasping at anything right now since it's all we've got.

Jack's second faceprint has already been leaked – the skin tones on every body part are matching indeed :pir-thumb:

New leaked photos of the ship, displayed on a desk, high res figures, the front and back box design. The cannon level opens and there is an area for the treasure hold which also was their jail cell area in the movie. The profile photo showing off the display stand being removed really shows off a very similar design as the real ship. The shaping is awesome. The rudder is controlled by the wheel. Im loving the design. The captain quarters are small and brightly colored. I see how i could modify to make the masts more accurate. Man this set has a great design and plenty of space for mods.

Seemingly I was wrong about flintlocks – on the newer pics it does look like they're Pearl Dark Grey, which is not a problem as it's still a great colour for the piece.

New Aztec coin is indeed printed & amazingly looking – can already imagine all the Isla de Muerta MOCs with literally hundreds of these :pir-laugh:

New compass piece can be spotted, still like the 2017 version more, but cool to have this one for variety.

Not sure why new Jack's hat is glossy (at least it seems to be so), cheapens the look of a new mold a little – otherwise fine figure, except I can imagine that probably the white on the sash would look brighter on the torso & a bit more washed on the legs due to the former being a white base & the latter being Medium Blue (or perhaps even Sand Blue at last, we'll see) base.

I simply can't comprehend the choice of print for Cotton's torso, but speaking of Barbossa – I'm really digging his new design overall, ngl, even if he does miss that yellow sash (the OG fig missed the scabbard, for example, & nobody complained much). He also seems to have kinda Sauron-ish colour to his coat – if that's the case, it'd be awesome :pir-triumph:

Now, the Black Pearl itself only looks better without the stand :pir-grin: Like Cehnot mentioned, the moddability is promising here, which we all suspected to be the case & it's great. Few things I want to point out: the capstan is seemingly a 21322 technique reuse & is canonically integrated into the main mast :pir-thumb: The removable deck is clearly TLG getting inspired by Marooned Marin's design, I don't care what anybody else would say :pir_laugh2: Cannon ports in their closed position look nice & non-intrusive. I don't quite get what's going on with the use of 1x2 log pieces on both sides of the 6th cannon, could've gone with the regular bricks? Looking at the masts from the back, I can't say I'm totally okay with their arrangement – have a closer look at the crow's nest area in the middle & you'll get what I'm on about, I'll wait for better angles to understand what's truly happening there before judging it. Though a new flag seems to be fabric just like the sails, btw, which is insanely good :pir-love:

I could nitpick for a lil longer about the exterior & naming, but so far, given the price & how moddable the entire thing seems to be, this set looks 8/10 being the Black Pearl/PotC set & probably 9/10 being one of the nicest pirate ship designs ever produced by TLG (tho I still would love to see the clean mast beams, but I can now agree with the argument about posing the figures on top of em since, funnily enough, this is EXACTLY what TLG did for the promo photos, lol). I didn't expect much after 2011, but damn – she does look fine in both play & display set form

The 35 inch long barracuda I designed a few years ago uses a custom sail design that i moddled off the Black Pear hoping someday i could build a similar sized ship. Since the files to the sails are based on my mast design, this should be an easy mod to this new ship. The new Black Pear uses 5 hulls. If you add 1 hull and widen it by 2 studs towards the front then it should be able to taper like the Barracuda in the rear based on the great cabin design the new set has. I think ill tale final photos and post the Barracuda Bay remastered sometime soon. The final ship i build will be a great starting reference for tackling The Black Pearl. I think the ship could be about 35 inches long and 33 to 34 inches tall. Its not far off from the new set. The ship needs a proper interior and maybe easy to fix or gut it entirely and make it 6000-7000 pieces like the ship sitting on my shelf. The design is great and plenty of room to use as a guide.

I was saving points for Rivendell and now i think ill use them to get the ship half off. The design team did great making it bigger, just needs some love to make it an UCS model.

Makes me very excited for the Dutchman (I am not giving up hope)!! Set looks fantastic. Is missing the statues on the sides of the cabin which I was really looking forward to. Figures are a let down but in 2025 I unfortunately have no hope for Lego in that department. I have doubles of most of the 2011 cast so I’ll just mod the new ones. Overall maroonedmarin still made the best black pearl ever, love that model so much. Lego has lost its charm for me but this set will make younger me very happy)))

The new Black Pear uses 5 hulls.

It's 6 hulls: 5 middle sections & 1 rounded front.

Yeah, they've seemingly opted for 4697b instead of using the mini statuettes for some reason, tho it'd be a relatively easy fix.

So...

It seems that there is limited interior space, just only captains cabin, which is rather small and fit 2-3 minifigs at once. There is no door connection to the main deck from the cabin, since the space in between is be probably dedicated to the rudder mechanism. Then there is some space under the main deck in the middle. The rest of the space is unused, or rather used for the mechanism that opens the gun ports. So...thats it...

I understand, its a display model, not ment for play, or at least not mentioned for excesive play :)

I can see 300 USD worth of bricks including design and overal look. Everything above it, is just overpricing already expensive set. So I will wait for the final pics and then buy it from some re-sellers from Lego Factory :) Or not.

Can someone guess the height? Too bad the image isn’t HD enough to read it.

It reads to me as 64x64cm or 25x25 inches length/height. Could be wrong, ofc, but coincidentally such measurements would also almost match MOC Your Bricks variant of 2020 BSB (the modified version of which is in my possession), so I think it's realistic to expect this as a minimum.

The back of the box also shows Cotton walking on the spars, so it is indeed an intendet feature. But you can also see how some of the rubber rigging pieces are already warped. Is there a reliable method to straighten those without damaging the piece?

The hull looks amazing, and I am glad to see minifigs displayed upon it, but the proportions of the sails don't look right to me. Regardless, I cant wait to get it.

Eknight

Yes, the proportions of the sails don’t look right, because they used the same ones multiple times. There is also not enough space between the fore and the main mast. But maybe it is not that hard to add another hull element to fix the proportions.

Maybe putting them in warm (not hot) water and then putting them under a book or something to straighten them out could work.

I will try to use some black droid arms to connect the rubber pieces which might keep them from warping too much and add some steps at the same time.

I was wondering the same thing! I intend to put the set right next to the other PotC sets atop one of my display cabinets, but this seems to be a lot taller than I thought *huh* Not sure it’ll fit!

Sounds plausible! Hopefully that’s correct, because if it’s any taller than 74cm, it won’t fit :snicker:
