Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
dilligan replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but the new Keibu figure from 75451 Hutt Palace Sentry Droid Showdown would be a great addition to any wolfpack. -
Here's the red roof. It looks better on an angle than straight on cause you can see through some of the studs to the white backround. Also added telescope to bell tower. I changed the configuration of the piers so that a Barracuda size ship and the merchant ship can both dock and the crane would be able to reach into both. Moved the pirate cage to the end of the wharf.
-
Thanks Jack. I like that idea. I'll see what I can do about moving the cage over to the wharf once I've finished the update, but I'm starting to run low on black pieces.
-
Thanks for the feedback. Firstly, I can't take credit for the wool on the goat, I have my youngest daughter to thank for that. Agreed, a red tiled roof would look better. I didn't have the pieces left that I would have preferred to use, but I did have some the right colour, so I have updated it. I'm still fiddling around with the wharfs/piers to come up with a design that will accomodate both sized ships. I'll put new pics up i the next couple of days once I have them updated. I'll also try and set it out in a long arrangement but not sure if the way I have built it will work too well that way. Thanks again for the ideas, I really appreciate them.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm a bit new to using flickr. I think I I've updated the pictures to be higher resolution. (Photo's aren't great though)

Here is my attempt at expanding 10320 Eldorado Fortress. Back story: As a kid, I got all the first wave pirate sets except the ships and the orginal Eldorado Fortress (6276) was probaby my favourite set at that time. A few years after I got back into the hobby, 21322 POBB came out and I think it remains my favourite set of all time. After builidng POBB I felt that it needed a companion Eldorado Fortress type set to compliment it and I built by own digital version and submitted it to Ideas not realising that they wouldn't accept any more pirates sets (oops). Then came the news that there was a new version of Eldorado Fortress coming out, so was very keen to get my hands on it. I really liked the new version of Eldorado, especially the addition of the ship. I feel like they could have done some things differently, but thats been discussed previously when the set came out and I'll leave that alone. Idea: Once complete, I found that the set felt quite small and started thinking about how I would expand it to make it larger. I wanted to keep with the modular style of 10320 and not change the existing modules, but unfortunately not all the modules worked with my design and I had to make a few changes. I liked the front and gun turret and thought I'd start by mirroring that. I wanted a more substantial buiding on the right hand side and also a permanent dock for larger ships, I also wanted to replicate the dungeon of the original set but make it accessible by a set of stone steps and gate from inside the fortress and a working (albeit not as smoothly as i'd like) portcullis to the outside. Ideally i wanted it to be larger to fit a rowboat but it was going to be too big. I also needed to complete the back of the office as well. For parts, I decided the best way to get the right parts was to get a second copy and limit myself to those parts. For the ship I was considering making two and changing their sizes a bit so they were different, but then I decided to make one large ship and use some of the left over sails on one of the row boats. The other row boat I made into a pirate version of the harbour sentry (6245). I ended up finding a copy of the set on ebay that someone had only half built and decided not to complete so I got it for a good price. I have added some extra parts but they could easily be removed with out changing the set. The extras are some white legs with black boots for the the soldiers with shako hats. The soldiers with the tricorn hats are my navy and still have all white legs. I also added some of the recent BAM and CM pirate minifigs as well as a couple from the vending machine (21358) and added some animals on board the ship. This expansion has taken almost a year off and on. I started with a big burst then slowly started running into road blocks and leave it for weeks at a time while I thought about how to proceed. I still have quite a few parts left over but not sure what else I would add to it. Happy to hear ideas.

I built this last week and really enjoyed the build. The set looks bigger and more substantial in person than I was expecting. I had to make a couple of tweaks to deal with my OCD. I found another paddle to add to the set from my spare parts. With the sails of the boat unable to unfurl, I felt that oars were the only way the boat could move around the harbour. I couldn't live with only one clip holding the door in the psychics house. I took the clip from the broom and a couple of other bits from my spares that were the right colour and shuffled a few bricks to give the door a second clip. Still considering what to do with the balconys that are only accessible from outside. Might be a job for another time. Overall, I really love this set, the look, scale and presence are great and wish there were more like it for a pirate era township.

Another vote for Lagoon Lockup. So many good sets. I'd take any of these, but I already have the 1st three from when i was a kid. I don't have any Islander sets, so King Kahuka's Throne or Islander Catamaran would be my 2nd and 3rd choices.

I see a crossbow, but i thought it was the old one. Agreed, we were never mean to see the prelims and if they weren't leaked and this came out of the blue, then I think the response would have been far more positive. I really like it as it is, although, I feel it does lack a couple of large and medium animals. Will definitely get this but can wait and hopefully there will be a related GWP in the near future. -

I think you can sometimes find chickens in the Build-a-Minifg section if you have a store nearby that has a BAM. In Australia, the brown chicken comes with a Ninjago style BAM online, which usually means you can get them in store. -
Very nice. He looks great.

Just ordered this with the current bonuses. I also bought 7016 and a few extra vikings from bricklink to create a clan. My castle set up is going to raided by the Norse. -
Torsos useful for pirate theme I have found at BAM
dilligan replied to El Garfio's topic in LEGO Pirates
Lady Anchor's torso can be found on this BAM minifig in Australia https://lego.bricksmegastore.com/collections/lego-build-a-minifigure-3-pack -
The last time I tried, I split the torso, so won't do it again. The blue or grey legs would make him much closer to the original, but worried about breaking something, so won't risk swapping the arms.
