LL-386 Sledgehammer - Heavy Fighter/Bomber Assault Ship

The LL-386, known as Sledgehammer, is a Heavy Fighter/Bomber Assault Ship and was first seen in action in 2356 AE, at the Battle of System Calakmul.

Its utilization was a major factor in the victory over the Kurgan. Used as first strike force, the LL-386, with their fast attack capability and great firepower, quickly eliminated the main defenses, allowing the following safe deployment of the stellar fleet into the system.

The marines found little or no opposition at all in the landing at Kashmir, home planet of the Kurgan, having the United Planetary Federation maintained control over the alien worlds since then.

Main Weapons and Specs

- Neutron Bomb F-E65Ni-Cr Mark IV (Fat Ellie)

Small thermonuclear device with a body of nickel or chromium, where the neutrons generated in the fusion reaction are intentionally not absorbed by the bomb and allowed to escape. The emanations of X-rays and high energy neutrons are its main destructive mechanism. They have only destructive action on living organisms, maintaining, for example, the structure of a city intact. This can pose a military advantage, since there is the possibility of eliminating enemies and seize their assets.

- Plasma Cannon 8000N/120mm Tomahawk (Big Tom)

It’s known that using fusion technology in the particles of lasers (usually deuterium) will increase the temperature up to millions of degrees. The ion technology allows the electric charging of particles and their acceleration. The Tomahawk was conceived to take advantage of this technology. The plasma cannon is one of the most powerful weapons, but this technology is very expensive. This type of gun fires pulses of energized supercharged plasma. After the impact with the target they will explode, and burn through the hull of enemy ships. They can only fire once before having to recharge, but that one shot can inflict serious damage.

- Particle Cannon 350D Tomograph (Little Tom)

A Particle Cannon Alpha (Electromagnetic Cannon) is a particle accelerator, where the projectiles, weighting several tons, begin to be accelerated and are then projected against the target. Even modern protections, like adamantium armor or energy generated shields, have difficulty to resist this kind of force, ending the projected particles to pass through them and damage irreversible the target.

- Transparisteel Canopy

Mimicking a molecular structure found in seashells, the Transparisteel is a plastic composite strong as steel but lighter and transparent. The material is made of nanosheets layers of clay and a water-soluble polymer chemically close to the white glue. Highly resistant to impact and pressure, also has the distinct property of making itself opaque as the amount of radiation emitted by the visible spectrum of light increases.

- Hydrogen Fuel Cells

Hydrogen fuel cells have the advantage of being highly efficient and clean. They can be used as emergency systems in areas where there is no electricity grid, and are easily switched to portable devices and vehicles. On each side of a power unit is a sheet of carbon electrode coated with a platinum catalyst. The pressurized hydrogen when in contact with the platinum, splits into ions and electrons releasing all the energy necessary systems required by the LL-386.

- COIL Cannons (Chemical Oxygen Iodine Laser)

Two chemical oxygen iodine laser cannons mounted at the ends of the wings. In this laser system, the generated reaction between chlorine and hydrogen peroxide energizes the oxygen atoms and transfers their energy to iodine atoms. The iodine atoms then create a laser with a wavelength of approximately 1.3 microns, which produces a beam with hundreds of KW of power.

- Twin Ion Engines

The use of ion beam as thrusting propulsion is an advantage in the mass-charge ratio of ions, accelerating them to high speeds using electric fields. Thus, the twin ion engine propulsion is capable of achieving a high specific impulse with a small mass reaction allowing greater efficiency than the traditional rocket propellants of liquid fuel that have comparatively low accelerations.

This was my entry for the 5th Anniversary Contest of my LUG, Comunidade 0937. Hope you like it. It was a lot of fun. It was built in one night, after arriving from work. And I got so carried away that went on building non-stop until 3 a.m., even skipping dinner.

It is very nice and the presentation is excellent.

I've liked the misture of bionicle and system parts too. Nevertheless the Neo Classic style is all there in the design.

That is one awesome spaceship! It looks EXACTLY like what LEGO would make if they decided to resurrect the Classic Space line, the colors and parts are perfect! I also may just have to swipe your bomb design.
