On the Sheepo's Garage website, there are details of this clever LEGO Technic Modular Platform System. :cry_happy: He wrote, "Probably the most popular vehicles to build MOCs are the Supercars. We all love cars and the more fast and sports better, but if someone wants to make a Technic Supercar in big size and some complexity (scale 1/10 is the most used) and you don't have a good knowledge of the techniques, build it can be very complicated and end up as hopeless.

"This system was created with the idea of ​​helping all those people who want to make a supercar at approx. scale 1/10 and still not have enough knowledge to start, or want to make a car with more advanced specs as Ackerman steering, camber angle and do not know how to do it.

What is a Modular Platform System?

"A modular platform system is a set of mechanical elements 100% compatible with each other to suit your needs.

"In this case the system haves of three elements: front axles, central chassis and rear axles.

These elements are designed so that you can combine as you like, you choose the front axle you want, the frame that you like and rear axle, join it directly and you have your perfect base for your Supercar!!

"All axles are designed and tested for use 68.8x36 ZR tires which are very common and good aesthetics.

The modular system looks cool. it might be really helpful for those who want to build a super car but dont know where to start.

@ Sheepo: Your Modular Platform System (MPS) is excellent! :sweet: It will allow Technic builders to be able to build the Supercar they've always dreamed of! Did you have the MPS in mind when you built your four Supercars (in your Brickshelf folder)? Was Nathanael Kuipers' modular Concept Car an inspiration to you?

I decided make this platform a few months ago because some people ask me about my supercars chassis.

Also I don't like use Lego suspension hub(part x873c01) because it is very limited to make an axle, and too much people use it...

And I want that they lose the fear to make an axle without this part.

This is a really great idea... :thumbup: Nathanael and I had tossed ideas back and forth about this before he designed his Concept Car... I think all of the roots go back to the 8448 Street Sensation's Modular Design...

I always said that it would be an awesome idea if Lego made like 3 or 4 different styles of suspension and other interchangeable unique modules that allowed people to create their very own personal Supercar... So your plans here are a step in the right direction... :thumbup:

I personally prefer to use the Steering Hubs x873c01.gif now after going through the dozens of different designs that I have over the years... I have a hard enough time keeping the weight/part count down now, so I don't want to have to add any extra unneeded weight... I also don't like the wobbling in and out effect from the drive axle that I have experienced when using universal joints for the front suspension's Drive/Steering instead of CV joints... It is very minimal, but does exist... This same motion does in fact exist with real cars with either front wheel or all wheel drive, but this action takes place further back from pivot point towards the differential and doesn't effect the actual drive axle that comes out from the steering hub...

You are right, this wobbling exist and it is impossible to eliminate, but I prefer follow my own ways ;)

I like more an axle with suspension and steering with advanced features that a single and rigid axle, just different points of view ;)

But in any case between that many axles I am building I made some with Lego steering hubs, like this not published yet:

Sheepo has added even more Front Axle designs to his Lego Technic Modular Platform System (MPS) -- read more at Sheepo's Garage. :thumbup: The MPS download contains many more SR 3D Builder files than it did several days ago.

Yesterday I built one of the axles from this MPS (McPherson Front Axle) and it's fabulous ! Only now I'm starting to realize how valuable this is even for experienced builders. It allows one to learn a lot about how steering and suspension works. I didn't know about things like Camber angle and Caster angle. Thumbs up for Sheepo ! :thumbup::thumbup:

This is great news and great idea! The modules look very good and clever! I know that for some time Paul(crowkiller) has been selling various front and rear suspension modules as well as Gearboxes and he seems to do quite well, so there is most definitely an interest in Supercar mix and match Modules! Looking forward to see what you have in store for the future!

Am I mistaken or are these Modules for 1/8th scale autos?

Yes, I have. But this is not the time for that :wink::laugh:

Am I mistaken or are these Modules for 1/8th scale autos?

This system is for 1/10 scale. The total width is 25 studs, this is 20cm(8 in.) applying scale it is 200cm(80 in.) and this is more or less standard width for a supercars ;), as Lambos, Ferraris, etc...

But of course if you want to built a "normal" car usisng this system the scale is not the same... for exmple my Mini Cooper was made in 1/8 scale but it has only 23 studs width...

On his Brickshelf gallery, Blakbird posted big & beautiful :wub: 9 renders of Sheepo's Modular Platform System modules. They would make nice wallpapers for your computer desktop.

Today, Sheepo has added even more MPS modules on his Sheepo's Garage website -- a Rear Live Axle (pictured below). He wrote that "Anyone are free to download and use this system. :wink: But if you use it I have a request, please send me a picture of your creation and MPS configuration used."

I'm still working my way through the renders and have the rear modules still to complete. Is anyone interested in seeing revolving animations of any of these? It is easy enough to make them. Once I've rendered all the modules, I'll make a few renders of completed chassis systems (3 modules). Any particular combination anyone wants to see?

I wrote that because I want to build a "Hall of Fame" gallery with all(or as many as possible) cars built using this MPS :laugh:

Working on it now. I'm trying to show the steering turned, but because of the camber, caster, and Ackerman, the CAD parts are really hard to rotate! (I am using MLCAD)
