Chilly_Productions Posted January 25, 2016 I made this thread on order to help anyone who is having trouble finding discontinued sets. Does anyone know where to find the Ninja DB X in the UK? it's still easily available in America, but the set was released three months earlier in the UK, which means that it gets discontinued three months earlier. geezerman402 Posted January 25, 2016 eBay, Bricklink, Amazon, etc.
Airbenderfreak Posted February 1, 2016 eBay, Bricklink, Amazon, etc. But on those websites they are usually over twice the price they were, does anyone know where to get them at or near their original price?
Tariq j Posted February 1, 2016 Bricklink is actually fairly good because lots of sellers don't include the box, instruction manuals etc. And of course, the sets are second hand, so you can often get a fair amount of the original price.
geezerman402 Posted February 1, 2016 The sites I listed can have sets for close to original price. But it depends if you want it new or used, and how in demand it is. Supply and demand will dictate a price once a set is discontinued.
xboxtravis7992 Posted February 2, 2016 If you can find a set languishing in Brick and mortor store still it will be cheap since the store owners probably want to sell that thing! Bricklink is good for used sets, or buying parts of to build small sets. EBay prices are always ridiculous.
HawkLord Posted February 2, 2016 I agree, small individual shops or even smaller chains may give you a discount on older sets. There's a store I hit every now and then that usually has previous year's sets at a slight mark up. It never hurts to ask.
Boettner Builds Posted February 3, 2016 Toys r us an kmarts are good sources for old sets if you think MSRP is a good deal. I've been finding quite a bit of sets, some are even 3 years past retirement at them. Which can make MSRP a good deal.
fatsomania Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) Amazon can sometimes be a really good option. They have some Prince of Persia sets for near their original price. The Ostrich Race (7570) is $25 which is only $5 more than the original price. The Quest Against Time (7572) is $50, which is exactly its original price. The Fight for the Dagger (7571) is $35 which is only $5 more than the original price. Also there are two The Lone Ranger sets at good prices. Comanche Camp (79107) is $24 ($4 more than original price) and Silver Mine Shootout is $70, the original retail price. You probably won't have much luck with themes like Star Wars, however. Vorkosigan Posted February 3, 2016 Really you have to check everywhere to find a deal. Amazon can be a good option sometimes, but for example Silver Mine Shootout is available for $54 with free shipping on ebay, so even though its MSRP on Amazon that isn't the best price. jonty14 Posted February 3, 2016 Have a look in the "Defective Lego Wall-E Getting Scrapped" thread. There is bound to be some discontinued sets in the skip ;-)
MatthisMcfly Posted April 30, 2016 I think you should try to go to eBay or Bricklink !
