Fort Brighton Version 1 - Finished

Okay, I got the harbor completed. It is pretty much what the CAD is with some small exceptions.

EDIT: With the whole Brickshelf thing going on, I wanted to at least get a few pictures of this old harbor up because it was the featured MOC in this month's classic-pirates.com newsletter!! Next month hopefully there will be a new MOC based on this harbor to display (well new in the sense of newer than this MOC is)

Ok, I never got to post in this thread and I haven't been able to keep up with it since then.

This is wonderfull, one of the best Imperial Harbour MOCs I've seen, which happen to be my favorite type of Pirate MOC. Good overall layout, great details, and the drawbridge and boathouse are very unique additions. Now you just need more blue baseplates! *y* *y*

A couple of Notes on some of things I like about the Harbor that I would like to direct your attention to.

One thing that I like is that many of the levels are removable. Here is a shot of the separate levels...

harbor34.jpg

Though not modular or anything, I did make large sections of the harbor connect technic pins so that I could more easily move sections without having to actually disassemble them.

harbor73.jpg

I also like the magnetic roofs on the stockade and store house. Roofs are a pain in the neck to get on and off, with the magnets not only were they easy to get on and off, but they sit at just about any angle you want!

harbor57.jpg

And though I didn't do a lot of work on the interiors, the ones I did put some work into looked pretty good. Here is a shoot out on the top level of the store house. The Imperials have tipped over the table to take cover.

I noticed that the floors easily seperated but I didn't see the magnets, that's a good idea! And I hope you have a great birthday!

But could you please shink your signature a little bit, ZCerberus? I think it's pretty big right now.

This is a great MOC finally seeing actual pics of it! *sweet* *y* Being able to look inside the buildings and see the extra detail is great. The interior of the buildings are one of my favorite parts.

I know blue baseplates are kind of expensive, but more "water" around it may be a little better.

Good job. :pirate3:

The birthday was good. I actually had a little help constructing the harbor, I used my girlfriend to hunt for pieces and make palm trees.

I shrunk the Signature. I was actually planning on making a new avatar and sig, but I decided to stick with the CAD one for now.

What? You don't like sheet-rock gray? Heh- I actually store them on a table like structure that I keep in an attic above our garage. I parts of the table are painted blue, and that might actually be the rout I take for now.

Now I have to ask, Phes- where is that promotion? j/k

Now that I see the actual pictures I'm impressed.

This is in my top 5 of my favorite harbors.

My ships would be happy to come here :pirate4:

You have a good number of those beautiful imperial guards in the garnizon.

Do you have any plans for future projects now this is ready?

My immediate plans I think are going to be 2 fold. I need a pirate fortress and ship to challenge the Imperials. I think I might try to come up with something different for them!

That pirate ship has to be pretty big if it must be able to challenge that flagship of yours.

What do you mean with something different?

Well Pirates are, of course I sneaky lot, so they prefer to hide out and use stealth when in hideouts, and then use small, fast, maneuverable ships to rob from the poor locals and sailors. If I am to build a pirate hideout, I need to keep in mind that it should NOT be a gigantic, sprawling feature like the Imperial Harbor, but it should be more in-line with the Pirate MO. So I am trying to think of something different for them.

In terms of a ship to challenge the Arbiter, well, that is another story. I guess upon reflection Pirate ships wouldn't be as big as the Arbiter... so I don't exactly know what I am going to do yet their either... maybe the Spanish will get a ship to challenge the Arbiter instead!

I think we could split this thread in two, the first for the Work In Progress and the second for the completed MOC. What does the master builder think?

Don't worry, its not too late!

Just to let everyone know this thread has been split into 2 threads, this thread for the Work In Progress and the second for the completed MOC. This is to make the completed MOC more accessible to those who haven't been following the original thread which can be found in Imperial Harbor - Work In Progres

This is incredible. Seeing the computerized images I wasn't too impressed. Didn't seem too special. But seeing it now... it is incredible. You should give us a photo tour of each room and what each building is. I would love to see it in fineer detail. I had no idea this is what you were working on but I must say this is probably the BEST Imperial Harbor I have EVER seen. Absolutely amazing.

Yes Mr Sting is absolutely right! Show us more details! We love the finer details!

Afterall, don't let all that hard work go to waste Mr ZCerebus, show it to the world!

Well... I can't take any NEW pictures, but I might have enough pictures between the old and the new to effectuate some sort of 'walking tour'. I didn't post ALL my pictures, so I can sort through them.

Also, in either this thread or the progress thread, I am considering posting a link to a new Brickshelf folder with ALL of the submodels involved in the CAD harbor, would that be something anyone would be interested in?

In the US, today is Thanksgiving, (I think Canada has some version of Thanksgiving, but it is on a different day I think, Mr. Sting, you're from 'The Peg', a little help?) so I am actually typing this on my girlfirned's laptop. As such I am going to be out with her family for 'Turkey Day' and who knows over the weekend. I might get some time on Sunday, but who knows!

Speaking of Canada, my Minnesota Twins boy Justin Morneau won the MVP of major league baseball! Awesome, Jeter is a chump anyway! Maple Leaf Power!

Why can't you take any new pictures? I must have missed the post where you said "I've disassembled the Imperial Harbor" or "My digital camera broke down"

I've disassembled the harbor.... Just kidding!

No actually the harbor and I are in the same state, but we are 180 miles apart. So I could retake pictures, but the next time I will be by the house containing the harbor is probably Christmas! I am in school so my apartment, which is certainly not big enough to house the harbor, is all the away across the state from my parent's house, were I keep the largest Lego creations.

I am not sure I would have even designed the guy with MLCAD if I had access to the pieces! I think I can still do some sort of walking tour like idea though.

In fact I think the only Legos I have at my apartment are Viking catapults etc, and that is for another forum

Nice work! An impressive harbour. I love the way it says 'the world' in the middle of the gateway in the pics.I also like the magnetic roofs and the supped up Sabre Island is a nice touch. Some of the central buildings are a little too familiar for my taste in a MOC, but that complaint is dwarfed by the sheer scale of your work. Well done!

God Bless,

Nathan

Yes, we have our own version of Thanksgiving. It is a little different than Americans, but it still involves a Turkey and get togethers so I understand your predicament. Ours is much earlier - the 2nd Monday in October. Its all good though.

And yeah, its incredible a Canadian won the MVP in MLB. Not many Canadians in the MLB and even fewer outstanding enough to take it . Its interesting how Canadians have taken the MVP in 2 much more 'American' sports recently. (Steve Nash in the NBA (although invented by a Canadian, Basketball is more of an American phenomenon... just look at Canada's Olympic Basketball Team... LOL) and Morneau in MLB.

Out of curiosity how do you know we call it "The Peg". You ever been to this dump? LoL. Alot of us go down to Minneapolis so maybe you come up here too.

For the record I am not one of these American-bashing Canadians that seem to drift through the system. I think its hilarious how in Canada we get mad when Americans insult us or are ignorant of us yet many of us think its okay to say our Prime Minister is "too American" as an insult. LOL. Ridiculous. I love America.

Hello ZCerberus!

A very amazing MOC your Imperial Harbor !

I like the old Lego-Imperial-Style it has.

Nice buildings.

Nice Idea that there are two cranes.

I only missed a little marketplace, but it is an Imperial Harbor.

Okay, well maybe I can start the 'walking tour' on the far right side of the harbor with the Fortress and Armory, then move to some other sections as I dig through the pictures.

Here was the original CAD design for the fortress.

1.jpg

And then when I updated it after i had the basic design down. Additions include the rocks and trees and cannons.

2.jpg

The actual Lego version. It is fairly close with the exception of some design changes on the little tower up front.

2a.jpg

3.jpg

Up front, you can see the pins used to hold the upeer level on. Once again, the rocks were a new feature I added due to suggestions on the forum here.

4.jpg

After removing the top level, you will see that there is a little boat house under the front portion of the fortress. It was little harder to get in there with the tooth brushes to clean off the dust, plus I ran out of time for clean off everything before picture time.

5.jpg

At the rear of the fortress is an armory/magazine. The administrator and master at arms has a little office building up top.

6.jpg

7.jpg

Unfortunately, I don't appear to have an shots of the interior of the office. There is an interior, and the top section above the office is removable... maybe I have a shot some were else, and I will look for it!

Anyway...

The office removes in the same way as the level above the boat house to expose the armory/magazine.

8.jpg

9.jpg

And finally a shot of the rest of the harbor from the fortress.
