Gunman Posted May 19, 2016 (edited) Heyyy there guys :) I am here with my friend Rambi in order to review a new nexo set called Ultimate Lavaria. Many people hate the new nexo knights line, others dont even wanna hear about them. I just see those sets as parts for my collection and I like few of them. The Nexo knights line, has a series of mini-sets with heroes and their armory. One of them that caught my attention is Ultimate Lavaria. An evil magician/monster with dark powers! Theme:Nexo Knights Set:Ultimate Lavaria 70335-1 Parts:60 Figures:1 Cost:10 euro bricklink Heyyy there guys, lets do this The box design is great, I really like the font used for "LAVARIA" at the upper left corner. At the back side, we can see the interaction of the set with tablet applications! (damn this new technology... ) What we got here...? Nice package and an interesting way to open it Set Contents (It consists of two medium sized bags and the instruction booklet) Inside the instuctions booklet, there is a mini catalog which include the Nexo line heroes, the so called ULTIMATE line. Ultimate MACY 70331 also caught my attention and bought her As you can see the whole series of heroes follow a similar motiv with heavy armory and "badass" look, in contrast with the bad guys who look pretty weak (but have pretty interesting accessories I must say) A very funny mold we can see is Scurrier, he looks like an elfin and also Sparkks set is pretty interesting and well designed. Set Parts Most of them are black, the "bad" guys color Useful parts included in the set I usually moc medieval themes, and one reason Ultimate Lavaria caught my attention is because of the following parts which can be really useful in the medieval theme, used from a dark mage or creature. Those shields can be used also as decorations in a throne's room. Lets start this... Hmmm... what are those things...?? saws..?? ("saw" pieces are great molds and can be used in various ways in MOCs) This trans piece is really interesting along with the feathers... (the creature is starting to take shape... ) Help me center this thing... we are almost done here Let's make the rest of the set... (an extra base used to store Lavaria's armory and snakes ) Damn... its too hot near this piece.. (this trans orange piece fits perfectly in a lava moc) I am sweating... (Lavaria's base is almost done) Wow... A nice working ballista! It can throw round 1x1 plates away with great power..! (a great future for the set is this small, working ballista ) Damn... snakes... creepy part... (there are two stands used to keep the snakes in position) The finished base of the moc. You can see there are angled plates to keep the shields there and some hinges to hold the snakes in place and the mighty ballista There is also a box attached to the base where you can keep the spare round plates used for the ballista The base has a triangle style shape which is really stylish Finally the set is ready! And Ultimate Lavaria is ready to fight! By moving the saws up and down you can give many different poses to Lavaria like the one you see below: Different angles of the finished set: Left side You can see the way the saws are attached to the center piece and also the center black brick with the wing end giving him a tail-like look. Back Side You can clearly see here his tail and the way the wings are attached to the chest. Right side You can see the way the trans piece from Lavaria's neck is attached with the black hinges keeping the wings together. The ability to pose Lavaria in many different ways is great and it makes you willing to continuosly experiment with the available styles of him. Different forms of Ultimate Lavaria (melee fighter Lavaria) (ranger style Lavaria) (poison magician Lavaria) The set also includes spare legs, so anyone can make a "normal" Lavaria minifigure. Front side Back side The chest printing of the minifigure as you can see is pretty similar from both sides. A lava/fire printing I could say which I didnt like so much to be honest The back side of the legs is plain red without any printing though.. Spare parts Critique: A cheap small set/minifigure with lots of useful parts together like the black feathers, shields and the legs/saws. Design:9/10 Very successful design with all must-have dark accessories needed from a dark mage. Price/Pieces: 9/10 Good value for money for a set costing about 10 euros. Playability:10/10 The figure has a lot of different forms to play with and the working ballista is the icing on the cake! Construction:9/10 Fast and simple construction procedure with a lot of interest! Total:9,25/10 A set with a lot of useful pieces for someone mocing in medieval/fantasy theme.I am very satisfied with this purchase. soccerkid6 Posted May 19, 2016 Definitely a fun idea to have a mini-figure assistant help review the set It was nice to get a detailed look at the parts and build
Littleworlds Posted May 19, 2016 A very cool review! You definitely have a talent to make cool pictures and combine them with the text. Works out simply great!
Aanchir Posted May 19, 2016 There's a "non-ultimate" version of Lavaria appearing next in Jestro's Volcano Lair, which comes out next month. That version has the same face and legs but lacks the cracked lava pattern on her torso. Since you didn't really like the lava pattern on the torso I figure you might appreciate that! Gunman Posted May 19, 2016 (edited) Hey thanks a lot :) Had no idea about the new fig, she looks cool for sure! Edited May 19, 2016 by Gunman
BrickJagger Posted May 20, 2016 Nice review. Your image quality is outstanding. In my opinion this set was the best of the first wave of ultimates. Not only does Lavaria come with wings and a set of spider legs, she also isn't a rock candy mess like the Knight ultimates. Her character was also exclusive to the first wave, giving this set even more appeal.
Lordofdragonss Posted May 20, 2016 For sure She and Clay are the best choices in terms of pieces provided! I love her figure is both manacing and cute!

HawkLord Posted May 20, 2016 This is the only Nexo product I've bought so far and even still I got it on sale for $8 (wasn't quite ready to pull the trigger at $10). Overall, I think she's pretty cool and has some nice pieces and printing, though I've ended up changing mine into a Sith character for Star Wars.
josykay Posted June 30, 2016 (edited) This was my first Nexo Knight set as well, and I instantly was interested after seeing it. Especially after realizing, that unlike the other sets, this one was "exclusive" to the Ultimate form, since Lavaria in Jestro's lair wasn't released back then. In addion, she looked much more appealing since she firstly didn't have some oversized weapon on her back, didn't have transparent armor stuff and the "spider" body was something really interesting. Giving her a set of regular legs made it even better. Even after the release of a new Ultimate wave, she is by far the best looking of the evil guy, and imo best of the entire series. <3 Edited June 30, 2016 by josykay
Jacked Lego Maniac Posted June 30, 2016 Nice review. I was kind of on the fence about this set, but I think you've convinced me. In my opinion this set was the best of the first wave of ultimates. Not only does Lavaria come with wings and a set of spider legs, she also isn't a rock candy mess like the Knight ultimates. The Ultimate Knights are great (Ultimate Clay is probably my favourite minifigure in this range thus far): the translucent parts suggest the armour is some kind of "hard light" construct; the "ultimate" expression of the Nexo power, if you will.
