  1. Stampunk goggles. A small accessoiry of my Steampunk layout, which I've built last year. Pictures also at Flickr: https://flickr.com/photos/mathijslegofan/albums/72177720328932848
  2. A smaller, mobile version of the 4990 Rock Raiders HQ set. The Mobile Rock Raiders HQ is equipped with a drill, radar dish, crane, speeder with dock, tipper, laser cutter, tracks, transport boxes and a adjustable cabin. Pictures also on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/mathijslegofan/albums/72177720328685419
  3. Just a quick Rock Raiders build. The Rock Raiders build this kind of compact tool stores in small caves to have quick access to the most important (mining) tools. This compact tool store has a small radar dish for communication with other Rock Raiders units. 01_Compact_Tool_Store by Mathijs Bongers, on Flickr
  4. After exploring Planet U, the Rock Raiders discovered another unknown planet in the galaxy. Planet ONYXX is much larger than Planet U, contains dangerous rivers and waterfalls, deep caves, rough terrain and dangerous rock pikes. The Rock Raiders discovered that Planet ONYXX contains the same kind of energy crystals as Planet U.... With this information, the Rock Raiders travelled to Planet ONYXX. When arrived at Planet ONYXX, the Rock Raiders set up an new HQ, much more refined than the HQ at Planet U. The new base contains a large crane, Dual-speeder Dock, Modular Tool-Store, small landing platform, cargo and miner lift, small and large laser-unit, Teleport-platform, Research Laboratory and a Ore Transport System. The Rock Raiders HQ is developed to split ores, to do some research of the energy crystals and do fast transport from and to the HQ. The Rock Raiders also developed new mining vehicles, some of them are modular, so they can swap some elements to create new functionality on an existing mining vehicle. The mining vehicles will be used in the large caves of Planet ONYXX, were only the heaviest mining machinery will operate. Take your mining equipment and start mining!! 6. This Steam Droid is equipped with a electrical canon and a claw. The Iron Gnomes created this kind of droids to protect their colony and allies. The Iron Gnomes are well known engineers, creating powerfull steam-powered machinery for several use cases. These droids are also powerfull in battle area's. 01_Iron_Gnome_engineered_Steam_Droid by Mathijs Bongers, on Flickr 02_Iron_Gnome_engineered_Steam_Droid by Mathijs Bongers, on Flickr 03_Iron_Gnome_engineered_Steam_Droid by Mathijs Bongers, on Flickr Pictures also on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/mathijslegofan/albums/72177720316145301/
  7. Not sure if this is the right place for something like this, it is definitely military but also decidedly sci-fi. Mods please do let me know if this should be removed or relocated With that out of the way I present a moc that I call the LHCP 87 or Light Hover Combat Platform type 87 - meant to be a nod to naming conventions of the Japanese Self-Defense force as this was inspired by the style of vehicles seen frequently in late 80's to early 90's anime and manga especially. Of course I am well aware of the impracticality of a hover tank. However it is such a sci-fi trope I feel it is a subject worth exploring. It this version it is really more of a variable thrust powered tank, which presents its own problems of course but with a healthy suspense of belief I'd like to think the finished model is a plausible representation fitting the world for which it was designed. Anyways on to the build. I really wanted to focus on the cold-wr meets sci-fi nature of the subject, hence the combination of some fairly dated technologies along with an array of various sensors, cameras and active protections. Of course I have taken some artistic license here, but again tried to remain in the realm of the plausible. I am by no means an expert in this area, just an enthusiast. I plan on incorporating this into a small build, I'm still deciding whether it will be an urban setting or a natural one. Any thoughts on this are welcome Let me know what you think below.
  8. A small rover I built back in 2020. Credit for the crane arm technique goes to John with his submarine build. The rover features four wheel ‘steering’ and a docking station for the drone. There are more pictures on Brickbuilt.
  9. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Terminator 2: Judgement Day, one of the greatest action movies of all time, and the Marvel comics of the same title that were released to tie in with the movie release. To celebrate this occasion, I have created a bust of one of the iconic T-800 Endoskeletons as seen in the opening scene for this year's Nerdvember challenge. Built in the same style as official LEGO event exclusive character busts and equipped with two light bricks to light up the eyes with the press of a button on each side of the skull, this detailed display piece is designed to look authentic and make every LEGO and Terminator fan go: "I want that!" I hope you like it. I'm off now to build more MOCs. I'll be back.
  10. FILE: Project Thunderbird (2071 – 2085) Developed by Ætheon (a high-profile private military company/"PMC"), Project Thunderbird was the first successful of instance of “jet trooper” (colloquially known as “Jetters”) being deployed into combat. Using cybernetically enhanced pilots (most of which were former US Air Force and Marines), the company was able to find work in conflict zones all over the world. All jet suits contained an exoskeleton, joy stick controls, and numerous intakes and jets that could be adjusted in real-time for maximum maneuverability. Jet suits varied wildly according the pilot’s rank and personal preferences. Though the suit’s weaponry varied between pilots, the most popular weapons were twin rapid-fire plasma cannons and two pairs of missile launchers. The most famous Jetter was Ariel Vazquez. Joining the program in 2072 at the age of 25, she displayed immense prowess with the suit and made headlines for her heroics in the Long Beach Excursion (2073), in which [REDACTED] surfaced off the coast of Long Beach, California and attacked the water front. Were it not for the timely intervention of the “Jetters”, the [REDACTED] would’ve wreaked untold destruction on the city proper. Vazquez would also participate in the Battle of Bend (2079), in which the nation states of Cascadia and Greater Idaho fought for control of a newly-discovered (and incredibly valuable) lithium deposit on the outskirts of Bend, Oregon. Being a PMC, Ætheon sided with the highest bidder (in this case, Greater Idaho) and wreaked massive casualties on the Cascadian military with their superior airpower. Though effective, Project Thunderbird’s heavy and unwieldly jet suits would ultimately be phased out as the technology improved and became more compact. However, it would leave a lasting impact on military combat (even going into the intergalactic age centuries later), with similar technology being deployed by the Royal Cobalt Space Navy (RCSN) in their “Gunzerker” program. Ariel Vazquez Birthdate: 04/26/2047 Hometown: Santa Ana, California, United States Height 5’11”/1.80 m (without suit) 6’5”/1.96 m (with suit) Weight 155 lbs/70.30 kg (without suit) 82 lbs/37.19 kg (suit) 242 lbs/114.31 kg (with suit) Education Mater Dei High School (2062 – 2066) West Point (2066 – 2070) Primary Military Specialty: Aerial Secondary Military Specialty: Ordinance
  11. My brother @LittleJohn and I built this spaceship for SHIPtember in just over a week. Inspired by this concept art, though we used that mainly as a starting point and then went with whatever worked as we progressed. Really happy with how it turned out! Length: 106 studs. Weight: Not yet determined.
  12. Built for New Hashima at Brickworld 2023. Spybotics are fun!
  13. Stingrays; Mutant Ray. The Mutant Ray is a redesign of the origninal 4788 Alpha Team; Ogel Mutant Ray set. I've rebuilt it in the Aquazone; Stingrays theme. The Stingrays using the Mutant Ray for fast traveling around the sea. It's equipped with two adjustable engines, two harpoons and a destructive claw. 14. Fiat Multipla will seek revenge on everyone who calls him ugly!! I made this as a joke, after building the regular version of Fiat Multipla I was thinking, this car looks like a frog... so I build the limbs, The most difficult part was stability, but I figure out the joy of balance, just to not slip I put rubbers on the feet. 15. I'm not sure if this belongs here or in Train-Tech. Regarding My Hover vehicles, I also created a Hover Tram (or passenger train if you prefer) Nothing much to say, well, yes, it has the tan train windows, I didn't pay a fortune for them, I have had Emerald Night Set since the day it was released :) Hover Tram 2052 by Sérgio Batista, no Flickr Hover Tram 2052 by Sérgio Batista, no Flickr
  16. Here is my latest moc. I call it the UN-D11 Air speeder ...or maybe its a flying car, or a spinner, or a hovercraft... Lately I've been feeling a bit burnt out and have had a hard time coming up with the creative energy to put into building. Instead I've been spending a lot of time looking at concept art, going back and re-examining some childhood favorites to try to get some inspiration. I've also been thinking about going back to my LEGO moc roots. My first "serious" builds were speeders from and based on the Star Wars universe. Something about the cross of utility - the need to move people and things, with the styling - the industrial design of a consumer product - really appeals to me. I enjoy the tension there. And this is the result. Inspired by some of the sci-fi greats, Syd Mead, Don Davis and Peter Elison, I wanted to create something with exaggerated lines and a strong character but also plausible (As far as flying cars go haha). It ended up being a lot of fun and has helped spark my inspiration. I'm looking forward to building more of these weird fantasy vehicles! Thanks for looking! Do you have any artists that you turn to for building inspiration? Let me know in the comments.
  17. Quick build form last week:) The Arcadian Exploration Vessel is a large spaceship, which travels through space to discover new planets and civilizations. The spaceship has two cockpits and at the bottom a third large cabin where the rest of the crew stays. The spaceship has a large radar on top. 19. A utilitarian space / Arctic freight train for my ice-bound Nexus Force base... it may not look very spacey, though. (I tried, it's more difficult than it looks!) This MOC features: - ALCO RS-11-like four axle diesel loco - boxcar with removable top and opening doors. - Nuclear waste flask car. Try not look at the glass sections for very long! - two couple of sectioned gondolas loaded with comet / meteorite samples.... and maybe a few frozen aliens inside! - bay window caboose for nuclear flask guards and train crew This model was originally a ALCO MRS-1 (which you can see in his instructions store here) built by @SavaTheAggie, but has been so severely modified that it no longer looks like the prototype loco. So I went searching and found another ALCO locomotive, a RS-11 that looks (kind of) like my new loco. Both my MOC and the new prototype have the four wheels, and the same basic hood and cab design as the MRS-1 that preceded it. I changed out the original grille bricks at the rear for grille tiles SNOTed-in sideways for a more consistent look when compared to the roof vents. I added back in Sava's maintenance cabinets from the MRS-1, yet attached them differently using newer parts. I also shortened the frame by six studs to fix the spacing problem created by the missing two wheels. The long hood of the loco has been designated the rear. The printed Nexus Force logo (from CITY Arctic 2014) goes on the curved 2 x 2 x 2/3 slopes on the front and rear hood ends, underneath the lights. This boxcar was heavily inspired by Time Gould boxcar design from the dying days of the 9v-era, otherwise known as 2008. (You can see it and his entire vintage train it came from, here on Rebrickable for free.) The roof comes off this car type and the loading doors open up. This nuclear waste flask car is loaded and ready for delivery to a waste storage facility at an undisclosed location. These open air gondolas are loaded with icy meteorite fragments, which may or may not contain hostile alien life frozen inside! No interior on this part of the train, as it's too crowded inside due to needed SNOT-work for the bay windows. This car was originally puzzled-out from this MOC's pictures. I'm already parting out the diesel engine, but the train will have to wait. You can see more details on the arctic / space base shown above in this thread in the Sci-Fi forum. Be warned, it needs to be updated with some newer stuff I designed! Thoughts? EDITED 9/6/21: added nuclear car photo and updated the main picture.
  20. The Cave Driller is built with 94 parts. Built for a contest, which contains a amount of max. 100 parts. The Rock Raiders use this vehicle for mining in small caves. It carries a magnet container for storing energy crystals. 01_Cave_Driller by Mathijs Bongers, on Flickr 02_Cave_Driller by Mathijs Bongers, on Flickr Link to Flickr: I hope you like it

  22. This Orbital Kinetic Strike Satellite, belongs to APOPHIS constellation. This military satellite constellation makes use of special secret-satellite-super-weapons to annihilate objective on Earth: bunker, shelters, hangars, vehicles, buildings, aircrafts, ships, cruise missiles, ICBMs. Operate surgical operations, or devastating attacks. This satellite use 8 electromagnetic rail-gun to shot very hard tungsten carbide rode, accelerate to Mach 20. The destructive effects of this weapon is very substantial compared to other super-weapons of APOPHIS constellation. To maintain and correct orbit this satellite use hydrazine trusters, while satellite systems are powered by two large photovoltaic panel. Cannons are powered by fuel cells, that after 16 shots are exhausted. 24. Discuss the past, present, and future of Amazon Prime's ongoing TV series The Man in the High Castle, based upon Philip K. Dick's 1962 novel of the same name. Here's both the first trailer and synopsis for its third season, as announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2018: Also, here's a recap video from Amazon of the first and second seasons as a refresher:
  25. Interstellar was one of my favorite films from the past five years. After I first saw it, I tried to build the Ranger spacecraft, but was stumped by all the shallow angles and gave up. I finally returned to it this summer and managed to finish it up. It's not perfect but it swooshes quite well, so I'm happy with it. Those aren't mountains by Tembets, on Flickr One of the things I did differently on my second attempt was to mask the windows in with stickers (the front ones are masked in over a 1x6x5 panel and a pair of 1x4x3 window) because at minifigure scale there was just no way for me to capture all the little angles in bricks in a way that I was happy with. This also freed up some space to work on the shaping around the fuselage. Ranger by Tembets, on Flickr In the film, the front landing gear extends out from under the winglets at an angle. I managed to more or less capture this with a bar supported by a droid arm that can fold down to land, or up and under the winglets for flight. The rear hatch can swing down, and there is a second set of sliding doors that isolate the cabin from the outside. Ranger by Tembets, on Flickr Figures from left to right: Cooper, Brand, Romilly, Doyle, TARS, Mann. I didn't have access to Illustrator or anything at the time, so I ended up making all the stickers in powerpoint Endurance by Tembets, on Flickr And as a little bonus, I made the Endurance spacecraft as well as part of a short video I did of this MOC (below). The Ranger is also posted to LEGO Ideas if you are interested, thanks for checking my MOC out!
