Fate(ful) has smiled on us today, and we now have a list of names, prices, and part-counts for Ninjago’s January 2025 wave! 71823: Kai’s Dragon Spinjitzu / 54 pieces / $10 71824: Sora’s Dragon Spinjitzu / 56 pieces / $10 71826: Dragon Spinjitzu Double Pack / 186 pieces / $20 71827: Zane’s Battle Mech / 92 pieces / $20 71828: Lloyd’s Race Car / 181 pieces / $30 71829: Lloyd’s Forest Dragon / 128 pieces / $20 71830: Kai’s Storm Rider Mech / 333 pieces / $40 71831: Ninja Spinjitzu Temple (4+) / 158 pieces / $40 71833: Ras’ Storm Jet / 510 pieces / $50 71834: Zane’s Ultra Combo Mech / 1187 pieces / $100 71841: Dragonian Storm Village / 305 pieces / $40 It looks like “Dragon Spinjitzu” will be the new gimmick, and possibly a new technique that the Ninja learn in Season 3; Lord Ras survives and continues to be an antagonist (not a surprise, but still a bit of a spoiler), and the villains are storm-themed. Considering that Nokt has blue markings (possibly storm elemental?) and physically resembles the Island Keepers, maybe their species is called “Dragonians” and they (or at least some of them) will return as the villain army in DR S3. 🤔

Deep within a dungeon, a brave party of adventurers face off against a legendary golden armored dragon in an epic boss fight. The arena itself was inspired by a scene from the show Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, and was originally intended to be an entry for Brickscalibur, but I ran out of time. Hope you enjoy

[Discussion] Ninjago Core Banners
King_of_Lomadia posted a topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I haven't seen many people talking about the core banners so I figured I'd post this to get the ball rolling. If you line up all the core banners you could make a grand tapestry of some kind. The above example just one version of it. I just felt like hearing other people's thoughts on this. How would you line them up? what other combinations would you make? Should it include the 2x6 stickered banner from Zane's Ice Dragon Creature? -
This project was a fun one. Originally I had planned to turn Zane's EVO mech into a Samurai X mech, unfortunately the EVO limb part have yet to be recoloured into dark blue. In the end I took inspiration and parts from the EVO mech, Jay's mech from the battle pack and Zane's mech suit. The mech has all the recognizable parts: the sawblade, arm cannon, jetpack and the folding cockpit. It might not have knees, but I did give it waist rotation. The mech can also strike a good pose. Thanks for checking out my post :)

For the Golden Master I started with the legacy II version of the Overlord but I was left unsatisfied with the shoulder armour. In the end I settled on spending an embarrassing amount in order to get the original armour from the 2014 Golden Master. For the head I though the Crystal King's would work best. In minifigure form I gave him plain black legs, for the mech form I swap them for the purple and black ghost legs. The Mech itself was quite litterally scraped together, I didn't order any additional pieces to build it. It's not as good as it could be but I thought it was worth keeping in my collection. I used the weapon pack pieces in gold to get the detailing on the legs and made sure to include at least on layer of the golden ribcage. All this spikeyness goes nicely with the armour on the figure. The mech also has good mobility due to the hinges, ratchet joints and pin connections. The more elongated shaping in the back help the mech appear more spiderlike. To truly unleash the Golden Master on Ninjago City you need some of that golden power to capture heroes and weave webs around the city. The golden webs from one of the Spider-man No Way Home sets can do just that. (Ignore the inaccurate young Garmadon). Enjoy this bonus picture capturing some of the transparent red highlights making a spooky face. Thanks for checking out my post :)

With the First Spinjitzu Master (FSM) being a thing, it got me thinking: who or what would the Last Spinjitzu Master (LSM) be like? Continuing with the theme of inversion or opposition I knew the LSM had to exist after time had name, or if you prefer long after time has lost it's name. Finally, with the balance between the light and the dark, I thought it interesting the explore the Idea of the LSM being a incarnation of the Overlord. In a time without heroes only the Overlord could bear the burden of maintaining the balance. With the Golden Master being my favourite incarnation of the Overlord the colourscheme of black and gold was already set. Mirroring our mostly ninja styled heroes I opted for the samurai aesthetic. To counter the FSM's Dragon Master Armour I made the LSM the Oni Armour, here I couldn't resist using the classic samurai armour. Once unmasked you will find the second legacy Overlord head, just for that hint of purple. For the torso I went with an Outrider torso from Infinity War swapping the black arms for gold. Thanks for checking out my post :)

As a LEGO dragon fan, I had been eyeing up Ninjago set 71829 Lloyd's Green Forest Dragon for a while but hadn't pulled the trigger when a friend bought it for me as a surprise gift. The reason for not getting it myself was that there were features of the dragon that bothered me. I'm not particularly into Ninjago so was seeking a more generic green dragon, e.g. a quadruped, not a biped, and one that was better proportioned (the wings are very large compared to the body). When the set recently went on sale at a retailer where I have loyalty points, I couldn't resist the urge to get a second dragon and combine them. The resulting dragon is very much more to my liking. I set myself the following requirements: Quadrupedal dragon More proportional overall More posable/better articulation More greebling/more organic looking More generic fantasy/not specifically Ninjago Not designed to be ridden Smallest possible number of additional pieces, i.e. parts not from two 71829s In the end, I only used four additional parts: two 6043656 and two 6039479. This is what I came up with. What do you think?

Here is my review on LEGO Ninjago Dragons Rising 71819 Dragon Stone Shrine: THE GOOD: Looks great in all angles. Very detailed exterior with lots of small pieces for added texture. A building experience nothing like before. The waterfall and the pond are brilliant. The 3 action features are incorporated into the build so well, you don't even notice by looking at it. Excellent minifigures! THE NOT SO GOOD: none. This set looks absolutely beautiful! I'm surprised with how well it display after finished building. First the building experience has been great, and I believe due to its design and volume, it felt so refreshing. The end product looks so well in every angles, despite the shrine area is opened at the back for accessibility, the other parts of the location are so well designed both the front and the back makes it a 360 degrees display model. The dragon is so detailed with an excellent waterfall, the effect of the water dropping into the pond is so good. On top of that, the 3 action features are integrated into the build so well, if you haven't build it, you won't even notice. And all 3 works very well. The highlight for me is the stone where Lloyd and Ras battle, it's like a balance board but the whole mechanism is completely hidden. The dragon arm is also surprising well done with more articulation joints than your typical mech. Plus you get 6 excellent minifigures. This is probably one of the best sets this year so far and best Ninjago location set outside Ninjago City modular series. Without discount it's a bit expensive, I bought with 20% and I do think it's worth the price. Totally recommend this to everyone.

Here is my review on Ninjago Dragons Rising 71818 Tournament Battle Arena: THE GOOD: Looks surprisingly great on its own. Great building experience. Lots of play features especially compared to sets released in recent times. Excellent minifigures. THE NOT SO GOOD: Feel like $10 too expensive in RRP. Statue's beard can fell of quite easily depending on how to hold it. This is another great addition to the NInjago Dragons Rising theme. Driven by the looks and the minifigures included, I couldn't pass up a 20% off deal. Turns out it has a great building experience, due to the unique shape and look it provides a more refreshing experience than more common sets. It also looks great on its own, while being a play set it also feel very completed and has no issues on displaying on a table. Moreover, this is one of the recent sets that exceeds expectation in terms of play features. The Taiko build is great and the dropping mechanism works well. Then we have the statue that looks great with stairs that can transform into slope. Although I ended up making the beard to fell off due to the way I initially handle it. And of course being an arena, having feature to allow 2 minifigures to fight is brilliant. The minifigures selection is great and all are excellent. Sora has one of the most interesting hair piece recently, and this is the first set outside friends to get the green mohawk. The world mask warrior also has great effect parts and looks menacing but given it's weight it does make the minifigure hard to stand on his own. In the end, I really like the set and would recommend to anyone who is looking for some fund. Do try find the best deals though as the RRP does feel $10NZD too expensive.

[MOC] Kai's Elemental Fire Mech
Traykar the swift posted a topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Wanted to make the mech a bit more unique build-wise while also bringing in multiple elements from the Climber Mech. Also, I feel like the Elemental mechs released this year would have been way better if they had each come with an extra limb to further the mix and match gimmick. -
This is a great set to add to any LEGO collection and it's fun to play with as well. The build can be a little bit tricky but when it's finished it is very sturdy and it also looks very nice. We also don't need to worry about any stickers as well. I like the way how the roof of the building can be moved up if you want to sviwel the weapons rack. There're 4 swords and on the other side is a chicken leg and a hammer. I also like the micro builds in the inside with the plate which has hot water in it, the fireplace, the lantern, the chimney and an anvil. Underneath the roof you can also a staff, a spear and two X-Men claws. We also get a nice looking map in this set. I really can't complain about this model. All in all this set is a great set and I would HIGHLY recommend you to get this. You can find this set on eBay, BrickLink and Amazon for sure. Here is the link where you can check out the full gallery I made for this set on my website: www.klokriecher.de Videos I made of this set: Stopmotion Review Speed Build

Hvitdreki, the white dragon I remember the first time I saw him. It was a crisp morning, the kind that makes your breath fog in front of you. I had wandered beyond the familiar woods, drawn by an unexplainable urge, a chanting of the gods. I crested a hill and there was a clearing. Shimmering in the sunlight, blending with the snow and the ice. Its scales glistened, each one catching the light in a dazzling display. A misinterpreted beast. How could such a beautiful creature cause such caos and distress? My heart raced with a mix of fear and awe. I was gazing upon a legend, a living embodiment of the myths our elders spoke of by the fire. Hvitdreki, the white dragon. Silently, I left, hiding in the shadows, to remember this day for all days to come. What I didn’t know was that we would meet again. But that is a tale for another night. ______________ Louis of Nutwood Hope you like it. Let me know what you think.

I want to share my recent ongoing project, a UCS scale version of the Ninjago Land Bounty. I thought the original set was such a fun concept, but the scale was just a little small for a flagship set for the line, so I decided to try and scale it up a bit. I added more play features, interactivity with multiple removable decks, and more room for the crew! I am just about finished with the digital build and need to re-create it in the brick (all the stages have been physically built previously, but I needed to tear it apart to preproduce the digital model and made edits). I am still working on the sails and adding graphics similar to the original. Here are some renders below, let me know your thoughts! Here is my review on 71772 The Crystal King: THE GOOD: Awesome looking mech. Interesting build throughout, I especially enjoyed building the torso and the head. Excellent Minifigures. THE NOT SO GOOD: Not many poses you can do with limited articulations on the front legs and torso. Kids may be disappointed as play features are very limited in this one. I really like this set in the end. It really is an awesome display build in my opinion given the limited number of articulation joints and play features, for me it's ok since I buy lego to enjoy the building exp and display the build. A bit more articulations points would help to have more different pose but I guess it wouldn't help since the back legs are not strong enough to support the weight of the front. At the end of the video, you can see how menacing this is when standing next to the Dragon of the East. (However, still not strong enough to take on the Monkey King Mech it seems =P) Anyway, I really like the building experience especially the torso and the heads. The use of certain parts to create the eyes and eye brows are very interesting. The torso, particularly the cockpit can be a bit challenging to align properly but it's interesting enough to keep me engaged. One of the reason I bought this sets are the new goons minifigures, the Vengestone guard and warrior. These 2 minifigures are awesome, now I really want an army of them but B&P doesn't sell new parts anymore =(. Other minifigures are also great and surprised to see only one good guy included. The ratio doesn't look good for Lloyd XD. Does it worth the money? well, I think it does at least I didn't feel like it is a rip off in the end. I did bought this with discount but then depending on the region you live in, the timing of this release is somewhat awkward since it's the day LEGO expected to increase price. I'm pretty sure in NZ it got $20 more expensive compared to the price when it first announced in May. I will still recommend this set though since it is a really cool looking set and is enjoyable to build.

Here is my review on 71771 The Crystal King Temple: THE GOOD: Looks good and it can be a nice shelf diorama display. Interesting building techniques through out. Good selection of minifigures. Couple of cool action features integrated into the set, i especially like the moving stairs and the crystal cage. THE NOT SO GOOD: Wish LEGO included hair pieces for the ninja. I really like this one in the end. I was surprised it is actually 2 separate pieces. I enjoyed the build and I think it looks great and can be a very good shelf diorama display. I especially like the stairs and moving platform. The minifigures selection is also good, you pretty much get the whole team here except Lloyd and Nya. I do wish they come with hair pieces. Oh, and the small creature really looks like the bats from upside down from Stranger Things. This set is really for all ages with great look and plenty of play features. The price depending is slightly high but you can easily find this with discount, so I do recommend this to everyone.

Decided that for the IRL pics I would edit the original post and post the pictures here. The gallery with all the old versions of the mech still exists and can be seen here. https://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=583992 Will be updated in 2024 with some newer parts but still wanting to share IRL pics as it's practically done anyways. (Sword Pics will be in 2024 though) Mainly wanted to get this out before the set version releases. Used Zane's Titan Mech as the template but heavily modified. Shoulder pads use the design from Mei's Dragon Jet Tail sadly needs the clear brick as it's too heavy to hold itself up Dual cannon arms and shoulder cannons. (Wish I could add more blasters but no idea where) Flip out blades. Cockpit closeup Detachable Jetpack and Mei. (Used the Nexo Knights Year 3 armor as that looks techy enough and attaches to the jetpack) Last pic. I might retake them to be bigger in 2024 but for now enjoy.

Here is my review on 71795 Temple of The Dragon Energy Cores: THE GOOD: Great looking build and it's surprisingly big! The building experience is a lot more complex than it looks. Some great details through out, I especially love the bridge between the temple and the trunk. Excellent minifigures selection. THE NOT SO GOOD: Can be a bit expensive without discount. One of the action feature feel redundant, the trunk moves but it doesn't seem to do anything apart from moving left and right. This set is unexpectedly big and complex. When I first saw this set when LEGO revealed it, I thought it looks great with cool minifigures, expecting a building experience similar to a mid size location build. It turns out this set is quite tall and the building experience is unexpectedly complex and engaging. The big trunk took a lot more time than expected. The set is packed with excellent action features and details, although one of the action feature (the small trunk with lantern) doesn't really do much apart from moving side to side. But this is very minor, the overall features and details packed into this surpass this small flaw. I particularly like the well and the bridge linking the trunk and the temple. There is also a new way on building some of the roofs which is refreshing. On top of that, the 6 minifigures are excellent! Again Ninjago sets often come with excellent villain! Now this set can be a bit expensive without discount even though the excellence do justify the price tag a little bit. Overall, this is a great set, whether you are a Ninjago fan or not, this is a set you should not miss =)
