Hey there, I want to share my Monorail freight transport with you. The locomotive hauls one freight car, normally laden with coal. There was no model, so i designed it as a freebuild. Hope you like it. Coaltrain by Alexander Schmidt, auf Flickr Coaltrain by Alexander Schmidt, auf Flickr Coaltrain by Alexander Schmidt, auf Flickr Coal Wagon by Alexander Schmidt, auf Flickr

Hi all, Some of you may have seen it already on my Work In Progress channel; the past 5 months I've been busy building a huge train station! It started with an LDD design. I ordered the needed bricks on Bricklink and started building. The LDD design covered the basics: a lot of detailing has been done during the building. The station has working escalators, elevators and sliding doors and are controlled by an Arduino. It also has more than 100 built-in LEDs. The platforms are about 2,5 meters long. There's also a monorail and bus station. I can explain everything that's inside but I suggest you just watch the video ;) If you have any questions, please do ask! :)

Hi everyone, I had exhibited at Legoworld the Netherlands with a Space layout. It has been 6 years since I have done something with my Space collection. The last time I had everything in one landscape, but this time I wanted to separate all the sub-themes in different landscapes. The landscapes are also in time sequence. In the landscapes you can see the overlap of some subthemes. One other idea was to connect the worlds with each other with a monorail. The monorail set 6990 was the set to connect all the worlds. The first set is from 1986 and the time line ends at 2011 (Alien Conquest). I do have Space Police III, but I did not have the bricks to create one more landscape. I do not have Mars Mission or Roboforce, because of lack of interest. The link to the pictures: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=549231 I hope you like it. Sander

Hi all, I just picked up my first monorail set. The two switches I received were very stiff and only work if I manually move the switch. Does anyone have a good method of cleaning or lubricating them?

Every selfrespecting Lego fan (AFOL's at least) knows the epic 6990 Futuron Monorail: As a kid I always wanted one and obviously never got one. I still want one but I think it's quite expensive and I'm more into trains. So I came up with the idea to combine the looks of the beauty above with the (also vintage) 7745 passenger train: So a 7745 in the colours of the 6990. A white train with trans dark blue windows. The train windows could be replaced by 4x3 trans dark blue panels. With some extra features one could design a nice train. What are your thoughts of it? I'm seriously considering to build it. The only thing that holds me back is the fact that it will need around 20 Bricklink orders and around 200 Euro to build it.. if you have good motivations and ideas, maybe I'll take the jump and order the whole shabang :)

I just watched the trailer of The Lego Movie and realized some interesting building techniques and details. I'll show you some pictures: Here you can see the garbage truck from set 70805 and multiple 10185 Green Grocers. I think the Chinese style house in the front looks interesting too. Here it's nice to see that they used cheerleader balls ( sorry if this term is wrong ) as small bushes as I did already a year ago for my Maithwaite station: I wonder where they got the idea from Here I like the way they made the coffee machines and the cup pile. Also the plant on the left is well designed. What seems interesting as well is that there is a monorail. Any connection to the "Mystery of the Monorail" advert of the Palace theater? But it's more interesting that they based the design of the monorail off the tram they made for 8404 as you can see in the next picture at the top left, lazy designers ??? Here a view at the monorail station. And at last a design for a house: I think it will be interesting to see the movie, and some will probably design some creations based off some of the buildings from here . At least I think it will be interesting to see the whole movie and rebuild some buildings/cars ..... Please post it if you find other interesting stuff too, and let me know what do you think!

Hello folks, as mentioned in my previous introduction (the Monorail Station with "Little Pig Snout"), here is my interpretation of a VT11.5 Trans-Europ-Express (TEE) train as monorail. Due to the narrow gauge of the monorail the train is quite a bit smaller than minifig scale - still, I have put a driver into it Enjoy the photos and Youtube movies. If you have any questions, happy to answer In comparison to a "slightly" larger scale model: And in action:

Chicago, 2039 In other news tonight, a thief had robbed a Grocery Store at knife point in Sector 12 made a run for it. He was engaged by Police in Sector 11 and was chased all the way to Platform 7 in the downtown Monorail Station. The thief then jumped for a bridge above the rail, on to a Train that was going under the Bridge. The man is bearded with brown hair and wore a green shirt with brown pants and is believed to be in his mid 30s. If you have any information please contact the authorities. With this build i have taken some inspiration from near-future themed Mocs and made a nice near-future themed Monorail Station!

Hi everyone, just a question for anyone who's got experience with old monorails. Sadly, over the years, my motor's switch seems to have become a little sticky, and the train won't bounce properly at the monoswitches. The straight-through function still works well, and the complete-stop function also works, though it doesn't necessarily stop properly inside the switch. However, it's the bounce not working that's particularly troublesome, as it means I have to build only loop lines or constantly restart the train manually. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the motor switch itself move a little easier? Or any ideas on how to make the monoswitches function as they should? Below is a picture, where I hope you can see that the black switch on the motor is getting stuck up against the 45 degree sides of the monoswitch, instead of going inside and then reversing direction. I've also got a video up on Youtube which shows more clearly failed bounces from a few angles, and also successful bounces. It fails a lot more often than it works unfortunately. This forum is an incredible resources for all sorts of fixes and information, and if someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all, being a car builder mainly I am working on some background for the cars, and when I was offered a monorail I thought this might fit with what I am actually planning. In my view the monorail can be integrated very well in smaller city layouts, but I wanted to have something that moves more realistically than the usual monorail trains with their high speed and abrupt stops. So I opted for a MR with PowerFunctions that can move very slowly. And since most of the cars are 7 studs wide to be able to fit the figs side by side, the train has the same width. Functions: - working headlights and backlights (PF) - interior lighting (9V) - openable front door (manually) - detachable roofs The train is quite heavy (around 0,6 kilogrammes) but that doesn't seem to be a problem, neither for the engine nor the tracks - until now, that is. I am watching these aspects thoroughly. The train is controlled by an 8879 Speed Remote Control. Capacity: 10 minifigures. My main inspiration was the amazing 6w Monorail Berlin Subway Train by Brucewaynelego-Toyshansolo, see http://www.flickr.co...ego/5110796438/ There are some similarities between my train and the Berlin Subway Trains of the Twenties. Thanks for looking, C&C welcome as usual. More pics: Interior: Street Scene with Monorail:

Hello, i'm new to Eurobricks and would like to introduce me and my "table town". My name is Ralf and i am an AFoL from Germany. My favourite Themes are (Classic-)Town (mostly 80ies and 90ies style) and Castle. My AFoLness lasts for 20 years now and for that anniversary i reconstructed/rearranged my town, called Lindburg. I use the 9V-system for my trains and MR for trams. The town has been apart for 7 years now and it was time to ... A lot wip there, but enough words: The oldest part of town, Sheeperstien (Shepard's Stone), mostly Tudor, partly due to a renewal, some houses done: the namegiving castle Burg Lindberg: the newer quarter Norderbruch, mostly from the 60ies: an 9V-adapted 7740 in action: a 6399 Airport shuttle tram crawling through a factory: the firestation (wip): view from the river: a last snapshot: more here on BS http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=526695 Greets, Ralf

Since there are so many animals in LEGO Friends, it seems obvious to build a Friends zoo. I got the idea at LEGO Fan Weekend in Skærbæk in Denmark last year where my first Friends MOC “Rainbow Holiday Center” was located next to another Friends MOC, which was a zoo, but just built in a different way than I would do it. Together with my 19-year-old son Lasse I started building the layout between Christmas and New Year. The layout was completed and exhibited for the first time at a Danish LEGO exhibition in the beginning of May. We also expect that it will be exhibited at LEGO Friends days in LEGOLAND Billund 6-7 June. More photos: https://www.flickr.c...157652462197078 Video:

My new monorail, which began with Masao Hidaka's idea on LEGO Ideas, now has faster trains and a larger layout. - The trains now use PF Train motors, 2 per train. - Powered by PF LiPo battery with PF IR Receiver control. - Speed is now up to 0.95m/s averaged over 10 laps of the 12-metre circuit. Full details and discussion here (and scroll down) Mark

A team of astronauts explore several planets to find new/unknown ores. The astronauts discovered a new planet, ‘’OSWION’’. They build a space station, which contains a Intergalactic Communications Tower, Planetary Observation Centre, a power plant, a research and observation compound, Landing platforms for spaceships. The astronuts build a monorail to transport the containers easily. The astronauts use their vehicles to explore the planet and dig ores and energy crystals. The space ships and vehicles are modular, you can easy rebuild them by swapping and combining the components. Every mission need it’s own vehicle. Some buildings, like the power plant and Intergalactic Communications Tower, are motorized by Power Functions. At the left side of the layout, a large portal is build to enter planet OSWION. The light in the protal is EL wire. It took 11 month's to build the layout. THIS LOT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. I have a big collection of Monorail I want to sell. More than 350 track and motor pieces. They are all in good condition. All motors work. Here's the list of stuff, including the average price on BrickLink for each piece over the last 6 months. I'd like to sell this in as few transactions as possible. If you make a big order we can talk discount. Other than that, the BrickLink prices seem fair. Reply here or PM me for more info. The collection is in Buffalo, New York, USA. And now for some pictures. -=- Proof -=- -=- General Overview -=- -=- Close Ups -=- -=- -=- -=- -=- -=-

I'm not sure whether to consider myself lucky or unlucky since I have an addictive personality. I know the basics. The three sets 6990, 6991 & 6399 and some of the aspects that make all of them unique. I also know that Mono means one and rail means . . . . (wait for it) . . . . . rail. I managed to land a second-offer for $75 on a really mixed bag on e-bay. All of the baseplates for airport 6392, instructions for 6395, 577 and a whole bunch of other stuff. 4 long monorail turns, 9 long straights, and one extremely short straight, and a bunch of stands for the monorail. I also got at least one (I think two) of the baseplate bogie things to build the monorail on the 6990 instructions, random pieces from the set, & the 9V battery box. There's a couple of things that I'm obviously missing off the hop. The first is the motor (currently bidding on one on E-bay) - wish me luck! My winnings are currently at my US warehouse so I cannot really view them (might have to wait till mid-May) I obviously want a couple of those pieces to stop or reserve the train in the interim and then afterwards some incline tracks and switches (all of which will be expensive). Is there anything that I need to know right away?? Other than the fact that I might want some old-school light grey 1 X 4 plates stat??? Kind of patiently waiting to see what I do have in this oddity lot, there's a chassis from model team, another from Technic, the car carrier and the supports for the raceway 6395. Windup motor, pull-back motor, weird plane wheels, a police boat?? By far this is the single most screwed up lot of lego that I've ever purchased. I've put the link below if you want to check it out (guy who won had zero feedback and didn't pay, hence the price discrepancy, I should mention that the pics of the guy's socks haven't led me to fall in love with him. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-lego-set-pieces-monorail-boat-power-station-futuron-books-accesories-/221737792641
