When building Bionicle MOCs, I'm the kind of person who often starts by seeing a particular piece or two and then decides to build the whole thing around that piece; this build is no different. I started by trying to make a generic Toa frame, but stumbled across the Av-Matoran leg in the parts section- you know, that piece so hated by so many G1 Bionicle fans? I decided that I should try to put it to good use! Gallery when public: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=565293 Despite the generic name- sorry, I'm not too good at coming up with names on the fly- Claw Beast has a pretty interesting, albeit somewhat simple, build. In order to accommodate both the dual Av-Matoran legs and the gearbox, I had to make some extra space toward the back. Normally, a Technic beam would accomplish what I wanted, but I'm not that kind of person; I wanted something more unique than what I usually do! So I just stuck a Protector torso to the back and called it a day. The addition of this piece, along with the Av-Matoran legs, afforded some interesting possibilities: though I had intended the leg pieces to hold some sort of armor, with the leg joints of the larger torso being the actual legs of the creature, eventually, I reversed this decision as I was putting the torso armor on, realizing how impractical that would be, along with the fact that the weird shape of the Av-Matoran legs make such a connection possible simplistically. With both the frontal armor and the Av-Matoran legs in the way, the available joints of the Protector torso became the perfect spot to put another set of arms with wide enough spacing from the upper arms as to not impede motion significantly. However, due to all the added bulk, the sides of the gearbox had to be widened as to allow the arms some distance (they should be able to move as long as they're not completely vertical). I finished off the build with the feet and head, both which were intended to be somewhat avian in design to suggest that this creature might just be a mutated bird. More pictures below.

I made some much needed improvements since the original post. So I figured it warranted a new topic for them. Hello, This is my entry to the Bionicle Makuta Build contest: Close-ups: Vs Ekimu: Here's my entry's page if you like to check it out: Click here
-
As you may have guessed by now, this is my first entry for the Rebrick Makuta Contest. My Makuta build itself was feeling a little "typical" with its small Toa size, simple build, and typical Makuta colors. To rectify this though, I had the vision of giving Makuta a vehicle of some sort, and he ended up with a Chariot that cobbled together a multitude of G1 and Technic pieces. Including a few G1 pieces alongside the CCBS parts was one of my building goals. I also built my first proper photo set up for the contest to get proper pictures. Unfortunately even then my build was to big to get a horizontal angled shot with a proper full white backdrop... I am considering a few more entries for the contest, but I fear that going bigger will just ruin my chance to use the photo booth I just barely built! Yes as I said before, my Makuta is actually just Toa sized, sharing a lot with the 2015 Toa. I like his look, but he doesn't seem as 'flashy' as some of the other contest entries. His reserved design though was intentionally done though to make him look like a "What Could have Been" Makuta retail set. Can you spot the G1 pieces? I am digging the ease of posebility in the smaller figure though! Try doing this with your monster sized titan! While the Skullie is a little cliche, I am in love with the greebled garbled look of the chariot. The Old G1 pieces really help create an 'underworld' look that I don't know if it could be achieved as easily with CCBS. For the most part this MOC is actually a combiner model, using pieces from Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder, Umarak the Hunter, Onua Master of Earth, Pohatu Master of Stone, Skull Warrior, and the classic Vezon and Fenrahk. The wheels and plates on the chariot come from a Technic Off Road Crawler, and the G1 Manas set. You might notice I am using a hidden leg to support the chariot rather than place pressure on the wheels. The wheels can hold the model, but for static display I prefer to use the 'kickstand' leg. The chariot also has some spots to mount G2 masks on it, as if Makuta is hauling away the masks of his victims... I hope you enjoyed my entry. I am highly considering a few more Makuta builds so time will tell if I end up having quite the 'Makuta Club' to enter this contest! Thanks for looking! Please visit the actual contest entry here: http://www.lego.com/...sortEntry=false

Umarak the Destroyer is an ok set but he wasn't bulky enough for my liking. So I've made a few changes to him. They are as followed 1. Completely redesigned the torso so its much bulkier 2. Bulked up legs slightly 3. Removed claw gimmick so he can have poseable wrists. 4. Changed up the horns on the mask. I didn't like how Umarak's horns went away when he put on the Mask of Control so I combined them with the Mask of Control's horns. Umarak's horns are now gold. 5. Moved the jaw up so its not hanging down so far. With that out of the way here are pictures. View from all sides http://www.brickshel...destroyer_1.jpg http://www.brickshel...destroyer_2.jpg http://www.brickshel...destroyer_3.jpg Comparison with my Umarak the Hunter mod. (I've made some more changes to Umarak the Hunter since the topic I posted about him) http://www.brickshel...destroyer_5.jpg Version with the original horns the set had in case someone wanted to see him like that http://www.brickshel...destroyer_6.jpg Lastly two poses. One of him screaming from his transformation. Seeing as JTO Makuta was a combiner model. I thought I'd take a crack at making a Makuta that used soley pieces from the purple sets. The sets used in this combiner are Protector of Earth Onua Master of Earth Skull Basher Terak Creature of Earth Onua Uniter of Earth Quake Beast Mask of Control from Umarak the Hunter. One of 3 g2 rahkshi I've been working on, This one is based on the old rahkshi of chain lightning, which sadly never had a story role but did officially exist. This model has a swiveling waist, functional kraata compartment, a flight mode, and mean looking staff that can split in half to form swords. There's a stage 1 chain lightning kraata in its back. I'm almost done with a Vorahk and just started making a Turahk. might do a gravity rahkshi too, it had blue and silver colors, and I have a spare dark blue head. Also, does anyone know how to embed pictures without them being giant?

I did a T. Rex-based theropod dinosaur Rahi a while back, but I guess I never got around to posting it. I photographed it today for posterity before I broke it up for parts. I designed it with the idea of fitting in with the original Rahi sets. It has a mask that can be knocked off, and a rubber band-powered attack function (pull the lever for an arm to wind up a slash, then release to strike). I'm going to see if I can recreate it in LDD or an LDraw client, with an actual planned color scheme and a Spinosaurus-based counterpart (to further match the Year 1 Rahi sets), and I hope to recreate it for real someday.

Haven't posted here in a while since I've fallen out of Bionicle with the 2016 sets, but I really wanted to share this. There's a bit of a history with this duo. Krakt started out as a joke, making a Toa entirely out of the infamously brittle lime green socket parts to tempt fate. Hence his name. It started as a very simple Inika-based design with a bog-standard build. I came up with a simple backstory for him, again, revolving around the joke that a MOC like this was not long for this world. But I actually kinda got attached to the idea of an elderly Toa, so I improved him a bit and made him a friend out of whatever parts I had on hand. Fast forward like a year and many, many revisions later and the two are far more complex and thoughtfully designed. Krakt is still at his core an Inika-inspired build, which fits in with his mundane origins as just another run-of-the-mill Toa. But his proportions were tweaked, especially the torso, I added detail like the filled in limbs and overall just defined the body shape. His fake arm is intentionally HF to make it stand out as artificial and not entirely sophisticated. Arva is a unique torso build, half system half technic, with a Mixels ball joint in the neck. Really neither are anything super special, just fancy builds of mundane designs, with a little history to them. A little bit of backstory on them: Thanks for looking!

Hello all, just thought I'd share some of my Transformers characters built using primarily Bionicle, Technic, and CCBS pieces. Each of my Transformers follows what I would call the typical "rules" of a transformers toy, being that they can each transform completely without removing any pieces - except for weapons. I have many of these already built, but I have yet to take good photos of them. In the meanwhile, here are pictures of two of my favorites, Crimson Claw and Downforce Crimson Claw: A fierce hunter and always loyal to his fellow Autobots and Maximals, Crimson Claw is a natural leader and warrior. He uses his energon saber to slice through enemy Decepticons and Predacons with ease as he calls out commands to his allies. In his Lion-Mode, he can deploy two wing-blades from his thighs to further slash his opponents as he runs through battle. More photos in spoiler below: Downforce: The fastest bot around, Downforce uses his immense speed to scout ahead and inform his fellow Autobots of any Decepticon activity surrounding them. Armed with a wide array of weapons in Robot-Mode, Downforce is equipped for most any situation, should he be intercepted alone while on a scouting mission. His chainsword can rip through heavy armor, while his giant boomerang-shield can be effective at short or long ranges. His dual pistols are there just in case he needs to hold out behind cover or provide supporting fire for his teammates. In his Racecar-Mode, Downforce can achieve speeds greater than mach-3. When traveling this quickly, his tires actually lift off the ground and he hovers, using his massive rear-spoiler to stop him from completely taking off. More photos in spoiler below: I also have a detailed video overview of Downforce here on my Youtube Channel I encourage everyone to check out the other two videos I've posted. They go over two of my other Transformers that I have not taken pictures of yet. I hope everyone enjoys these "MOCformers" of mine. As always, I welcome constructive criticism and feedback. Please consider, though, that these are built mostly out of the pieces I had as a kid and any others I've acquired through my adulthood. I do not, unfortunately, have the budget to custom order every piece I need off of Bricklink and as such, I may not always have the best pieces to accomplish a job, etc. If any of you have ideas for cool future MOCformers builds, please feel free to share! I am always looking for inspiration for the next build. (Also, I hope it's glaringly obvious that CrimsonClaw's lion mode was heavily inspired by Liger Zero from the Zoids cartoon.)

Hi-Rez Gallery: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=565256 { DISCLAIMER: These models contain painted, modified, and non-Lego pieces. If any of these make you run crying to your mommy, consider skipping this one. } { DISCLAIMER: I am not a creative or artistic guy. I've borrowed lots of ideas for these. See list at bottom of the post. } For those unfamiliar: The Toa Mangai are the cannon group of Toa who guarded Metru-Nui, including Lhikan. We know next to nothing about them. I've remained true to the established elements of the toa, the presence of Lhikan, Tuyet, Nidhiki, and Naho, their known weapons, and the fact that we know one of them had a Kakama. Everything else, as far as I was concerned, was up for grabs and invented by me. { DISCLAIMER: "B-b-but... those aren't the masks listed on the wiki!" Those were chosen via poll well after Bionicle was dead. My personal head-cannon overrides such a tiny and uninformed representation of the fandom. } { DISCLAIMER: "B-b-but... the wiki says that one mask is the Mask of Fusion, not Mechanics!" Those fannon-to-cannon Kanohi are largely ridiculous and I've rebelled against them since Day 1. } { DISCLAIMER: "B-b-but... Toa of Plantlife are green and BLUE!" One problem there. Plants. Aren't. So Bionicle is, for the second time, going away to the Obsolete and Retired Products Graveyard, to be laid alongside Hero Factory, Ben 10, and Galidor, among others. It's very sad it was cancelled so early it it's re-birth, barely halfway through it's second year. To celebrate it's second life through Ekimu and the island of Okoto, I have created this MOD of set 71312. (My alternate motive was because all that trans-light blue doesn't strike my fancy) It features a golden hammer with darker accents, and golden armor with an companion shield. It is also missing the main part: the mask of Creation! Sadly, the mask is not in LDD, so I left it off. Here is it at Bricklink: http://www.bricklink...age?P=20477#T=C The back of Ekimu features a part of Tahu's golden armor from the final series of original Bionicle from 2010. The hammer is mostly taken from set 71312, while the shield is from both set 70795 and 71312. The missing mask is found once more! (It's actually already in my possession, so I only need to order 99.9% of the model to complete it.) LDD file: http://www.moc-pages...1469920961m.lxf ...and yes, this MOD is 100% build-able in real life. I checked.

What would you like to see in future sets? I'd like to see something less humanoid and more 'alien', something that's not really any existing creature nor resembling a humanoid.

A graceful Bionicle swordfighter I built this week. I haven't really come up with a story for her. She mostly just evolved out of an assortment of building techniques I'd been fiddling around with. ___ ______ ______ Flickr album Please feel free to share any comments, criticisms, or questions you might have!

Makuta Takarrah by Artemiy Karpinskiy, on Flickr Takarrah is an OC of a Tumblr user makutatakarrah. She is a Makuta that came to be during the war with the League of Six Kingdoms. Takarrah is a kind and caring type, unlike most of her brothers and sisters, and was not supportive of Teridax's plans, following him only because she couldn't oppose him. After Makuta was defeated, Takarrah have migrated on Spherus Magna along with other ex-inhabitants of Matoran Universe. Takarrah specializes in Avian Rahi, however her current projects are aimed towards Visorak and development of Hordika anti-venom.

Hi everyone. This is my self moc, Toa Taggerung and he is a viking (thanks to Skyrim). Before there are any questions, I had to glue his mask. Everything holds just perfect until you add whiskers, and when you do so, the mask bursts into pieces. Literally. There IS actually some friction, but not enough. You can have a look what the construction of the mask looks like without the whiskers (and glue) in my folder called WIP on Flickr. Other than that, there are no modified pieces except for some stickers, cloth and and two tiny pieces that seemed better in black rather in white. This is an older version of the moc. Click on the image to see the album, there's the new version as well. The new version. As a bonus, here's a mixel version of him. Well, that's all. Thank you all for your attention!

Rixec by ArtieStroke by Artemiy Karpinskiy, on Flickr Rixec is an OC Toa of Psionics that belongs to a Tumblr user ArtieStroke. I have made this MOC by their request. Here's their drawing of Rixec that I was using as a reference: http://i.imgur.com/Az4cU2N.png

I longed to make a MOC of my favorite OC anti-hero. And now, thanks to New Years which brought us Darth Vader, me and Demitsorou finally managed to tear almost all of our Bionicle sets apart to assemble him. Master of Pain by Artemiy Karpinskiy, on Flickr Kahlahnee is an OC of mine, a cursed Toa of Ice hailing from the twisted realm of Karzahni. Its ruler have crafted a powerful Mask of Suffering as a punishment for Kahlahnee's uncontrollable violent outbursts, which were the reason he's been sent to Karzahni in the first place. His weapon is a baseball bat. Don't ask me why.

Kraata-Kal by Artemiy Karpinskiy, on Flickr Kraata-Kal is a Dark Hunter, hailing from Destral. Makuta Teridax took one of his Kraata and zapped it with something that is called "The Kal Energy" - presumably what allowed the Bahrag Queens to create the Bohrok-Kal. The resulting creature was put in a heavily modified exo-skeleton. Kraata-Kal have become sentient and self-aware, and therefore decided to buck it as soon as possible. Afterward, he joined the Dark Hunters. The model is based on a drawing by Demitsorou: http://demitsorou.de...rsion-520539976

So I was thinking of making a series of animations of various characters battling each other in order to teach my self Flash. I just finished up writing the first script for the series about Tahu Vs. Preston Stormer. Please tell me what you think and what I should change. Enjoy!

Gallery The Great Scorpion is My Own Creation I built in LDD. However, it's possible to recreate it with real pieces.

This is my take on Ekimu and Makuta. Both share nearly the exact same build. Rather than using Ekimu's build from 2015. I went with a similar but more animation accurate design and built a custom gearbox for them. Ekimu has green eyes and Makuta has red eyes. This is cause there are no purple eyes yet and both sets of eyes contrast against there trans colors. I've made Makuta's gear function swing his left arm as in the legend video. Makuta was shown holding his hammer in his left hand. Makuta also has the same shield as Ekimu as I couldn't think of anything else to give to his other hand. With that out of the way here are pictures of the brothers Ekimu http://www.brickshel...tors/ekimu1.jpg http://www.brickshel...tors/ekimu2.jpg http://www.brickshel...tors/ekimu3.jpg http://www.brickshel...tors/ekimu4.jpg Makuta http://www.brickshel...ors/makuta1.jpg http://www.brickshel...ors/makuta2.jpg http://www.brickshel...ors/makuta3.jpg http://www.brickshel...ors/makuta4.jpg Together http://www.brickshel...uandmakuta1.jpg http://www.brickshel...uandmakuta2.jpg Comments and criticism appreciated

REVIEW: 70786 Gali Master of Water So the last few days have been crazy for me. I had to go to a clinic due to a sudden increase in heart speed and drop of blood pressure, my computer glitched out, and then my car was booted. On top of this I have to prepare for a Spanish 3040 exam tomorrow dealing with "Subjunctive Verbs." *Shivers* So yeah, it hasn't been that fun the last few days. As an escape I have been logging onto BZpower and Eurobricks frequently, as such a certain siren came and caught my ABS loving heart. Gali, the Master of Water. So with my nostalgia running overdrive, and a desire to escape for a moment from the drudgery of irregular Spanish verbs, I hunted down Gali in a local Smiths. So there she is, that siren which robbed me of 15 dollars... Her ABS glory coupled to a high sense of nostalgia for my simple childhood in 2001, made it easy for Gali to take my heart. But first before I built her I had to procure some food... My plan for chips and salsa was killed by a super tough salsa can lid... Was this can of salsa going to stand between me and my Gali? Fortunately no, since Kivoda the Protector of Water offered an alternative dinner: the fruit of Ga-Okoto. Fresh StarKist Tuna, raised in Okoto, packaged in Ecuador! Kivoda was more than excited for me to save Gali from her box enclosed status, and did all in his power to release her from the carboard prison! I told you I was going to be studying Spanish tonight... Maestro oddly enough translates as both Master and Teacher. So maybe Gali is now the Teacher of Water! With a mighty relic from the stash of President Buisness, the mighty sword of "Kni-Fe de Booter!" I saved Gali from her boxed state. And there it is, Gali's pieces... As per Eurobricks tradition we must all stare at this photo of "New and Interesting Pieces." Please don't drool while admiring this. This is probably the craziest piece ever: Yeah, so anyway Gali's build starts of simple enough. This part should take Bionicle fans all of 5 seconds of intesne labor. You know, all of Gali was a simple build. I was hoping she could compare to the build of a modular building, but for some reason Lego expects us to have simple builds in 15 dollar sets (obvious sarcasm)... At least it didn't take me 4 hours like a modular does! I love that Lego has included gearboxes in Bionicle again, it is such a wonderful throwback to the classic 2001 sets. Here is Gali near completion, torso pieceless and headless... Her torso plate is a Hero Factory Breakout torso, so if anybody wants to remove her lovely printed chest piece to shove a small circle with an H into her heart... be my guest. And the moment we have all been wating for... Gali in the flesh! That mask really finishes it off, as soon as the mask is placed her character really comes out. She has a very sleek, feminine, war like appearance. As other reviewers have noted, Gali's fins can link so she can become a Bio-Mermaid and recreate scenes of Disney's hit classic "The Little Mermaid." Gali: "Up where they talk, up where they walk, up where they stay all day in the sun!!!" Gali's staff can become a battle axe, and as you may have noticed I put the fins on upside down... Oops. Kivoda is happy to have a fellow water tribe friend now... The Toa and Protector pairings look great together, very reminisent of the Toa and Turaga pairings in classic Bionicle. Of course with pieces from the Protector of water Gali can get some new equipment to battle for Okoto! Although not as complex as Bionicle G1's combiner models, this is a lot more visually pleasing than slapping Gali together with a green and white Toa to build a wide hipped three torso Kaita... Here is Gali with my entire 2015 Bionicle collection. Sorry the photo is a bit blurry. Gali stands out wonderfully, I like how her blue is contrasting with Tahu's red. So my thoughts on Gali are is that she is a wonderfull addition to the Bionicle range. The last time I bought a Gali set was back in 2001 itself, and I can see very plainly how Lego has improved on Bionicle in the past 14 years. Gali is a great figure, and stands out in a collection. She is a must have for anybody interseted in Bionicle 2015. What is that Kivoda? I have to return to reality now? Sigh... time to study those irregular verbs and subjunctive for that exam tomorrow. Hasta luego mis amigos!
