    Hot Dogs!

I really like it. Did you design the stickers yourself?
  2. Thanks a bunch! I'm looking to get at least the School, the Diner and the Boat - and likely also the Graveyard. Great colours, great parts, great figures.
  3. I only just now noticed this theme and was completely blown away. It looks like the perfect mix between Monster Fighters, Ghostbusters and Scooby Doo. Do we know anything about pricing? I hope the app stuff doesn't push the prices too high up, as I don't care about that part.
  4. It seems to have about as many parts as an average modular, but with arguably better figures.
  5. A fantastic set, due to the setting and uniqueness. Not the prettiest displayset I've ever seen them do - but it's uniqueness adds to the display value. It's an expensive set, but I'm strongly considering getting it. Looks like so much fun. And some interesting pieces here and there.
  6. The PoTC theme had some good sets though, for use with Pirates. I wouldn't have complained if that one had went on a bit longer.
  7. Who claimed that? I'm not trying to argue that it would be a realistic setup for Star Wars, you're completely missing my point. Whether or not Forma is silly is, of course, arguable and depending on taste. But even the most die-hard fan of Forma certainly cannot argue against it being niche in any kind of serious manner. And yes, it's perfectly accceptable for fans of Forma or any other team to call Pirates and Castle for "silly", if that's how they feel. It's really not a big deal, it's not like it's a harsh and insulting word. Why are you hell bent on trying to stirr something up here? I really don't think what I said could be considered to be controversial.
  8. As a fan of classic Castle (and Pirates), I'm one of those who've felt a bit abandoned by LEGO in recent years. Nexo Knights was certainly not to my tastes, though it did have some interesting figures for those amassing colorful fantasy armies. I was not pleased by the last real Castle theme (from 2013), and it didn't help that it was only a handful of sets in a throwaway wave. The last Pirates entry I liked a lot more, but again: it lasted just the one wave. Did I, and other fans of these themes complain? Yes, sure. But even so, I find it unfair to label us as chronic complainers. It's easy for fans of themes are allowed to run for years to tell us to just enjoy our scraps. For several years, those two themes were all I was interested in. Whenever I bought a non-Castle or non-Pirates set, it was for the purpose of fitting either the entire set or, in most cases, bricks/figures into Castle or Pirates. Only once I got into Modulars and Creator 3-in-1 was I suddenly able to enjoy more than a handful sets per year. And it's frustrating to be Castle and Pirates fans, because all we're handed is, really, scraps. We get a small anniversary figure, we get a collectible minifigure, we get a pirate rollercoaste... imagine if that was all Star Wars fans got. And when we look at Playmobil and their continued offerings into the same genres, treating those themes as evergreens... when we see LEGO launch something as inheritly silly and niche as Forma while still not deeming Castle or Pirates worthy of releases... yes, it's easy to get a bit bitter. Can you really blame us? When all that is said and done, though, I have no wish or expectation for LEGO to cancel a succesful theme. The only circumstances under which LEGO should cancel themes are when they no longer sell or they run out of ideas for them; and only LEGO themselves really knows when that happens.
  9. Sorry to revive such an old thread, but has anyone succeeded in making reasonable interior for this thing? I'm considering building the right half (the actual house), but don't want to buy bricks for and build a modular that won't fit interiors...
  10. Now I really want LEGO to do sails in that colour... very striking.
  11. I'll admit that I haven't gone through the entire list (perhaps half of it). But sure, among them are some impressive mocs - but an impressive moc does not necessarily make a good set. I haven't for a long time noticed a medieval Ideas set that even close to matches the quality of, say, The Old Fishing Store while also being something that could realistically become a set.
  12. This last guy couldn't even be bothered to make his minifig hands and heads match in color... I'd love to see something Castle-related come out of LEGO Ideas - but most of what I see is vastly inferior to actual LEGO sets.
  13. They sadly already re-launched under the name 'NUOGAO'... People buying their knock-off actual LEGO sets are just as guilty as the company itself. Despicable.
  14. I too have experienced this issue with reddish brown bricks breaking. All I did was assemble the set once, have it one display for some years, then take it apart. Multiple reddish brown parts broke. :(
  15. Very likeable hull - though I'm personally not into brick built sails.
  16. Some pretty cool new pieces in those sets, thanks for mentioning them.
  17. This. It takes a lot more for me to enjoy a digital build compared to a similar brick-built build because the actual physical bricks is a really big part of the LEGO hobby for me. That said, people not commenting on mocs does not necessarily mean that they aren't enjoying them. I enjoy many pictures of LEGO every day that I don't necessarily comment on. As others have mentioned, you shouldn't post pictures here with the sole purpose to get fantastic comments. If so, you're doing it for the wrong reasons. And if comments and praise is what you're after, there's other places more suitable/likely to gather such attention - like LEGO groups on facebook, where people can like and/or comment much easier/faster, on the fly on their phones.
  18. Thanks for all the suggestions.
  19. I'm curious... how would that work on the second floor? Has that ever actually been done?
  20. Yes, I omitted a lot of great designs. I didn't feel I could add them all (and originally only planned on having around 10 in the poll), so I went with those who were an actual faction - with the 2013 CMF as a bonus that doesn't really fit in with the others. I'd honestly be surprised to see Wolfpack win. I personally went with a lion myself, though the earliest one: the Crusaders. Especially the second version, on a blue backdrop. Absolutely gorgeous.
  21. Crusaders (1984) Falcon Knights (1984) Forestmen (1987) Black Knights (1988) Wolfpack (1992) Dragon Masters (1993) Royal Knights (1995) Fright Knights (1997) Knights' Kingdom Lions (2000) Knights' Kingdom Bulls (2000) Shadow Knights (2004) Crown Knights (2007) Skeletons (2007) Trolls (2008) Dwarves (2008) Kingdoms Lions (2010) Kingdoms Dragons (2010) Castle Lions (2013) Castle Dragons (2013) Collectible Minifigure Knight (2013)
  22. Hi, I'm currently struggling a bit coming up with ideas for businesses to put on my second floors of custom modulars. I really love the ideas LEGO did with dentist, vet, painter, photographer, music teacher, detective and such - but what to do next? What type of business are both suitable for the second floor placement and fun to do in LEGO? I find those much harder to figure out than the ground floor shops - and I don't want to do appartments for all of them...
  23. I too think the heraldy of Castle 2013 was inferior compared to that of Kingdoms (especially) as well some (but definately not all) previous Castle themes. I can certainly see where the "cartoonish" accusations come from, as they fare a lot further from looking as real, historical heraldy as some previous outings (like, again, the Kingdoms heraldy). While kids may love this (or be indifferent, who knows?), I think most adults prefer it more "realistic". And yes, yes, it's the age old "but LEGO is made for kids!" argument... but naturally we, as adult collectors, look at LEGO from an adult point of view. I'm certainly not buying a set I don't like simply out of appreciation of the fact that I'm not the key target demographic. Back in the 80's and early 90's, LEGO managed to create heraldy that appealed to kids and adults alike (I'm basing this claim on the fact that I like them as much today as I did then) - so why can't that be done nowadays? As for the colours, I think the red and black of 2013 looked pretty good together (though not quite as appealing to me as dark green and black from 2010) - but the light blue and grey lion faction was a miss. A darker blue, like in Fantasy castle, looked much better. I actually experimented a bit with switching colours on some of the 2013 sets back then:
  24. This describes me pretty well, too. I often sell the minifigs from especially licensed sets on Bricklink, keeping the build to myself. This helps me reduce the cost of the LEGO I buy, ultimately meaning that I can afford more LEGO.
  25. LEGO themselves use "minifigure" for the classic figures, "minidoll" for the Friends-type figure and... other wording for brick built characters. Please notice that the Uni-Kitty collectible series does not, as the only series in the entire lineup if I'm not mistaken, contain the word "minifigure". We can discuss personal preferences all day long, but.. perhaps we should listen to the offical LEGO descriptions?
