Actually got the Prisoner Transport yesterday, and am now surprised at how similar the Armored Car in the Money Transfer set resembles it. The first two thirds of both vehicles seem strongly similar except for cosmetic details. On another note... almost a shame this guy didn't hit in the TRU's this week. Could have been a steal to get, say, the bank and the Police Boat for $71USD!

Congrats to prateek, EB's first Arch Duke!

Pleasure to see you officially 'anointed,' prateek!! Remember us peasants when you're deep inside the Eurobricks stronghold! -
We could always use pirate coins-- but they are gold. Some nice shiny silver would be nice as well. What I'd really have liked to see was some gold bars, for the more seasoned criminals of the city

Nice looking plane, certain to fill up the tarmac at the airport nicely. Plus that little guy can't be more than $20USD... right?

What's the best Minifigure ever made?
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Mr. Elijah Timms's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The other night I was comparing the Cloud City to the new Fett... and then tried something a little different. Basically I put the new jetpack, cloak, head and helmet on the old Cloud City body-- and it looked pretty great. The two things about the new one that make me scratch my head are a.)why didn't they do the arm prints after investing so much into the figure already, obviously and b.)why the sand blue arms and legs? It just doesn't look right. At any rate, I concluded that swapping the Cloud City arms onto the new torso, and using the Cloud City leg chassis altogether would pretty much give you a perfect Boba Fett fig. But I can't bring myself to break either down. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 4 discussion

Personally, I've been hard at work trying to come up with a way to create goalie pads... No solution as of yet, but I'll let you know when I figure something out... -
We all wish you were right. The Prison Transport is just a van and a motorcycle and that's $20. I'd say there's no way the chase is under $25USD. As for the bank, if I had to hope guess I'd say $40USD.

What's the best Minifigure ever made?
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Mr. Elijah Timms's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Speaking of modern figures, I can't believe I forgot to mention the Anubis warrior. I doubt I'll ever own one unless it shows up in a smaller set one day, but dang, that's one sweet figure. -
So last night, with an amazing coupon deal at Borders and the wise advice of Prateek, I caved in and finally picked up the new 8097 Slave 1. And although I surely won't have time to build the spacecraft for weeks, I did open up the bags to dig out all of the myriad pieces of the coveted new Boba Fett figure. And yes, he does not disappoint. Which led me to think, with all this talk of the Collectible minifig favorites, and so many of the other fantastic figures we've had of late, as well as from the past-- In your opinion, what's the best minifigure ever produced? Hard for me to pinpoint-- the elf is fantastic, as is the Spartan-- the Cloud City Boba is still a favorite, as is the original Lando. But I also love the new Robin Hood CM, and I've always thought the Black Falcon archers were darn near perfect. On the other hand, the original Vader will always be a favorite, and I'm also very fond of the old Redcoat Admiral from the Imperial Outpost. And yet the cool Viking with the chainmail hood (that I never acquired ) is epic as well. What do you guys think?

You, Your City, and Your Special Someone
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to LEGO Guy Bri's topic in LEGO Town
Break it to her early on-- if you hold out too long she'll be far more upset with the fact that you kept a secret from her rather than that you're an AFOL. My advice-- if you're into the collectible minifigs, get her involved. My wife really enjoyed opening them and seeing 'what we got' each round, and plus they're a relatively inexpensive hobby. From there she actually did some reading on her own and learned about how many AFOLs are out there and that it's not that weird of a thing, and she accepted it fairly easily. Even this morning looked forward to opening and building the sofa from the Advent Calendar. At one time I was afraid she'd really freak out when she found out I was into Lego, but by now I'm pretty certain she even got me a few sets for Christmas, which speaks volumes. -
Awesome pictures, Red Brick-- Thanks again! Judging by these new shots, I am very pleased with a.) the quality of both of these sets and b.) how seamlessly they blend into the existing City Police line. By the time I add these two, along with the Prisoner Transport and the Police Boat, I'm fairly certain my squad will be complete. When all is said and done I'll have five squad cars, two K-9 units and a paddy wagon-- if only I had more cycles for the handful of highway patrolmen I picked up during Series 2. LOVE the bank and all of the small details, like the safe on the second floor and the ability to have a crook scale the walls. Plus the armored car is sweeeeeet.

Seemed really strange to me that SO MUCH was on sale this season, but then again I haven't been into it in years past like I have this year. But... far be it from me to complain about it...

Is that me in the far right of the pirates room? And am I holding... a bong or something?? Thanks again Dan -
Alright gentlemen-- I have a quandary, and a good one at that! I have the 25% Off Coupon for TRU, where I had every intent of getting the 5766 Creator Log Cabin and the 7286 Prisoner Transport, for a total of about $44 USD. Not bad, plus I'll get the free Stormtrooper impulse bag. BUT... I also have a 50% One Item coupon for Borders, where I can get the 8097 Slave 1 (originally marked up at a staggering $94.99 USD) for about $47.50 USD. I originally had no intent of getting the Slave 1, but at that price it's tempting... What's an AFOL to do?

Which is your favourite police station
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to The Yellow Brick's topic in LEGO Town
7744. No question-- absolute pleasure to build and it looks pretty darn perfect when completed. I remember asking several members here about whether or not it was worth the purchase (Lightning Tiger and others) who all assured me it was one of the better sets TLG has produced in the last 3 years or so, and they were right. I'd recommend it to anyone else, for sure. -
Looks like we get a blueshirt for the bank security also... so at least we'll still get one if we don't go for the new truck or police station :)
-
I thought the design was pretty solid. Still not sure why it doesn't open from the back, but it never opens up too easily. Plus I put the extra antenna on the other side, which keeps the door down as well-- just have to flip it back before you let... the... do-- --oh no, I can't believe I just did that.
-
Police Chase-- Well done, TLG. Adventure in a box right there. Bank-- Hey, I'll take it. Love the armored car and we had to realize we weren't going to get some enormous graystone facade, so this works for me. Personally, I'm much more concerned about this green star/red star business-- we WILL get this in the States, right?

I'd love to be a part of it, if you'll have a scallywag greencoat pirate at your table... My sigfig is essentially: The torso from the 6192 Pirates Bricks n More set Tan legs Minifig Head 389 And a brown tricorn hat and a cutlass. Love to see if I make the cut, yar!!! -
Agree-- the sumo's hair looks better on the samurai than on the sumo himself.

Bah! Erickson's gotta stop spending so much money on facilities and invest in his on-field talent! He can't expect to let all those free agents slip away and still win the pennant!!! And if my season ticket premiums go up again I swear I'm just gonna watch the games on the new plasma widescreen TV at the police station...

Imagine what the younger kids think... "Mom I want a Lego Police Station!" "Which one?" "Ummm, wait, what??"

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion

Speak for yourself my friend... At the end of the day they're just little plastic toys. We're all capable of collecting without sacrificing our integrity. -
A windmill sounds great and all, but... WHAT ELSE?! Very curious to see what's in store for the Dragon Knights in 2011, since TLG's put this big fishhook in the side of my mouth regarding the green faction. I'd surely hope we see more Dragon Knights, perhaps a true king or leader, and MORE MEN! MORE MORE MORE
