  1. Well, what's not to like? This is one of the most impressive buildings I've seen in quite a while. The sheer size of it is very impressive, and the garden is lovely. There's just too much detail to comment on, so I'll choose a few things that I particularly like: The round window on the top floor, the angled part, and of course the lighting. But I think my favourite part actually is the brickwork on the wall in front of the house. I've played around with the idea of something like that myself, and your realisation turned out very well. Like some of the others here, I'd love to see an interior, but I can see how that would be a daunting task in such a huge building, so I'll settle for looking at it the way it is, in all its beauty :)
  2. This house is lovely, I really like it! From the exterior with those square grille brick columns and the flowerbed out front, to the detailed interior with great furniture, you've done a very good job on this. As others have said, I hope you'll make more modulars! Actually, I think the combination between dark red and tan is a very nice one - I doubt the house would have been as appealing if you had built it all in dark red!
  3. This topic is very interesting to me as I'm working on something very similar myself - I've just not chosen the models you have, I've focused on the smaller ones instead, like 6624 (you can find my six-wide version here). While I really like most of what you've done, there are two things I'd definitely do differently. The minifigs sit too high in the cab - the way it is now, with the doors placed straight on the plate that makes up the base for the cab, the eyes of the figs are level with the very top of the windscreen. With the garbage truck, for example, you could solve this by thickening the redstripe on the side by 1 plate, adding a plate underneath the door, raising the windscreen, and then just remove the black 1x2 plates with door rail above the windscreen. It's particularly obvious with the tow truck (which is a very, very nice conversion, I love the front design) - in my opinion, it would look so much better if you'd just raise the windscreen by one plate. The other thing I'd do is make sure that the scale is still right. The cab conversion on the 6357 is a good one, but the trailer is just too short - the proportions look off. If you increase the width of the vehicles by 50% (from four to six studs) you should do the same with the length to avoid an unnaturally stubby look. That said, the idea is a very, very good one (although I'd obviously say that, having had the same one...) and I like what you've done so far. My suggestions reflect the issues I've come across when attempting the same things you have :)
  4. My thought exactly! It's a very nice building, inside and out, and it really looks at home next to your other buildings. But ground floors are always taller than the other floors - I think you should consider at least one brick to the height of the ground floor - the building still wouldn't get too tall.
  5. Entry 5) Cat Burglar (by Darkblane) - 1 point Entry 11) Croc's Sewer (by Skrytsson) - 1 point Entry 15) Where are you, Batman? (by by Fianat) - 1 point Again, many great entries, and a very tough choice!
  6. Entry 1) Enter: The Joker (by SI-mocs) - 1 point Entry 11) The Dark Knight! (by Skrytsson) - 1 point Entry 14) The Heart of Arkham (by Fianat) - 1 point Well done, everybody - a lot of wonderful entries here. Very hard to choose!
  7. Wow, thanks a bunch! Name and address has been provided!
  8. The whole thing is great. You really ought to get yourself a proper camera, because these pictures don't do your fabulous creations justice! I agree with everything that's been said about the colour and the way you've managed to break it up. But as lovely as the exterior is - with the fence, the balcony, and the tree - the interior is what really makes it stand out for me. The details are fantastic - that bathtub, for example, is brilliant, and so is the fireplace with those grille bricks. Great job. Keep it up!
  9. Lovely! A nice and clean design, with a lot of nods to Mr. Bessa's Villa Maison. I like it a lot, and the brickwork is top notch. Interior? :)
  10. Thanks for a nice review - I didn't think this was a set I'd want, and I still don't :) Uh, no, they didn't. Have a look at this picture: It's just not so obvious when the torso is in a dark colour. That image does show something else, though: If they'd fixed the life jackets so the head would slide all the way down on the neck, they would have been useless combined with a lot of headgear - like those helmets. There wouldn't be enough room to put them on. So I guess we have to choose, head all the way down or room for headgear...
  11. Haha, that's nice! And crazy...
  12. I like this, it looks really good! Belongs in the Town forum, though.
  13. I suspect he was thinking about an 1x2 cheese slope, yes. But I think it does look better now. And I like the front much better now that I see it from that angle - the grille slopes don't stand out so much from the front. It's a very nice truck!

It's a rip-off. Same seller, same fraudster. Don't buy, don't support him, whatever you do. What he does is theft of intellectual property.
  15. Obviously, you'll need to extend the roof of the cab by one stud. But I think it'll look much better that way :)
  16. Scary! If the werewolves have arrived in Sweden, it's probably only a matter of time until they cross the border and spread west. We'll need to be prepared!
  17. I quite like this - the overall accent is very nice, and the lime accents work very well. I'm not too keen on those grille slopes in the front, but that's a matter of personal taste. What I think would make it better, though, is actually an old-fashioned 2x6x2 windscreen instead of 3x6x2 - the way it is now there's just too little space between the mirrors and the rear wall of the cab. The lift solution is clever! I wish Lego would make some 1x3x5 doors though, those would look better - I have the same problem on a couple of my vehicles.
  18. There are probably a number of reasons why it isn't more popular, and most of them have been mentioned: Bad design on the webpage, the user interface is very difficult to use, everything seems very amateur-ish and not like what we're used to from the Lego company, the price questions seem misplaced, the only thing the company promises is that they will consider making the set if the suggestion reaches the needed number of supporters; and not least, 10,000 is a very big number. My guess is that this will never become anything else than a niche product. It will never grow to a substantial size. Then again, there were people who predicted miserable failure for a little project called the Internet...
  19. This topic deserves to be bumped every once in a while. I got a 7498 at almost half price today, and when I opened it and saw that the police cars were in separate bags from the other pieces - with only the stickers missing - I knew the time had come for my first bag-build :) So, here it is! I recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it yet. Just know, as others have mentioned, that your hands will get dirty from the print on the bag... I might have a go at the van tomorrow :) Edit: I couldn't wait.
  20. Wow! I didn't know this building, but I googled it to find some images, and you seem to have captured its unique design very well. I particularly like the glass surfaces and the colour. Good job!
  21. My first train was the Emerald Night - but things soon escalated from there. Now, I don't have room for a layout at the moment (although I've acquired enough track by now to build one if I had) so getting the tracks wasn't really necessary for me, but if it hadn't been for the EN I probably wouldn't have started with trains at all - which means I'd certainly recommend the EN as a starting point, not least because it's probably about to disappear from shelves. If you're aiming for a layout, though, I'd go for 7939, like others have suggested. I like the train, and you'll get everything you need to get started - a track oval and all the PF stuff. Edit: Sorry, I meant 7939, not 7938. Although I've just placed an order for 7938 myself :)
  22. Really nice! If the Town Hall coming next year is reminiscent of this, I'll be happy. Well done - although I do feel a bit sorry for that cat, which seems to have put itself in an awkward situation...
  23. Like I said on Flickr, I really like this one - and there are several details that particularly appeal to me: The whole white part that finishes off the top floor; the colour combinations with the dark green ground floor with yellow accents; the arch that leads to the back yard; and not least, the Lego magnet, which just tops off everything perfectly. Obviously, the interior is lovely as well - but I think my favourite thing with this is the execution of the concept: A wonderfully designed corner building of limited size. It would look great between, say, a Green Grocer and a Fire Brigade, even though it's smaller - it's just what an urban street corner could be like. Great job!

That's really nice, I like your style! I think the two lower floors are the best, with the black brickwork on the corners, the tan section around the door and some very good-looking windows on the first floor. In my opinion, you've gone a bit overboard with the lion heads, though. More than two on any building tends to look a little too much for my taste.
