  1. I really like this - but that's no surprise as it's coming from you. I thought it looked familiar - that's probably because it has a very close relative in the NSB Di 3 in Norway.
  2. Period? That's hilarious! I thought it was men who didn't read the instructions - until something went wrong :D Glad to see that you're being helped, though. If you haven't received the set yet it's quite understandable that you haven't read the instructions - regardless of your womanly preferences. Edit: If you change your mind and want to see the instructions, you can click here. Flip to page 28.
  3. There's nothing wrong with stirring up some excitement. But if you're saying that you'd rather get excited about nothing, than get the information that might calm down your excitement, I don't follow you. As they say: Facts have a tendency to ruin good stories. That said, it's pretty obvious that we're all quite anxious to get some information soon. If the release date really is in March, it's not that far away...
  4. Wow - three posts, and this is what you present? This is a wonderful idea, but I can't help think about the piece count... that must be a massive undertaking! The GG looks great, can't wait for the CC!
  5. And imagine a swimming pool with no depth. What a waste.
  6. If you've actually bought an Emerald Night I'm a bit confused as to why you feel the need to ask. It's very thoroughly explained in the building instructions - which very clearly state what extra parts you need... or am I misunderstanding your question completely?
  7. If you'd read the posts on the first page of this thread, you'd see that 01/01/12 has been the "expected delivery date" on that webpage since August - on all the exclusive sets for 2012. Which is, I think we can all agree, not going to happen. So it's quite likely that these guys don't have a release date yet. It's just a placeholder.
  8. I'd seen the pictures - they turn up when you google 'Steinwinter' - but I didn't know the story behind the beast. Thanks for the info! If you look closely, you'll se that he's seated (comfortably) inside. I don't build cars that can't fit minifigures - that's important to me! :)

    MOC : Irish pub

I agree with cimddwc - both the architecture and the colour combination works very well. I particularly like the detailing around the first and second floor windows. If I could make a couple of suggestions (this is nitpicking): There's nothing wrong with leaving some studs showing, but I think it would look better if you tiled the brown area above the windows and door on the ground floor, and I'd also prefer a 1x4 tan tile underneath each of the first floor windows in the back - althought that might interfere with the shutter tabs. I also think that the roof would look better with a tiny bit of detailing - nothing much, but maybe a couple of pipes or grille tiles or something. That said, it looks brilliant the way it is :) I really enjoy following the transformation from your old to your new modular street. Keep'em coming! :)

    MOC: Supercar (7w)

Nice! I think the front design is even better on this - it's very wide and aggressive. I also like the rear better - in my opinion, the new exhaust pipes fit the scale better. I look forward to seeing it in the right colours!
  11. I think of yellow as a colour that's too 'noisy' to be used in a modular MOC, and when I saw the first pictures of yours I thought that I was right. But seeing it in a line of houses, along with the official modulars, makes me change my mind - it works very well. It's a nice and uncluttered design, and the detail with the mailboxes (not briefcases, that's something else!) integrated in the wall is a good idea. I'd add a window or two to the back wall, to make the interior a bit brighter. And I agree that stairs would make this better, but making room for that is tricky, so I can see why you haven't done it. Overall a very nice modular! Any plans to do another?
  12. I feel you, man. But as a journalist, I know that we can not be trusted to get our facts right. Sorry :)
  13. I agree, that's the way to do it. You have to remember that the original images in the first post often makes reading the whole thread more interesting - that way you kan, by reading through the thread, follow the evolution of the model in question :)
  14. Thank you both! By basing most of my cars on the regular 4x10 base, I've kind of restricted my options - so colour is one way to accomplish variation (like ER0L said). I haven't quite exhausted that base yet, there are still some cars to come :) Thanks! Yeah, there's a certain similarity :) Thank you so much for all your kind words. There'll hopefully be another bunch before the year ends, or somewhere around that time. Thanks! I changed the colour of the Falcon so as not to make it a complete copy of yours - and thereby apparently annoyed all Ford fans down under, according to your fellow countryman, the Tiger :D
  15. I like your redesign (I've built the original myself) - but I think the thread gets more confusing, not less confusing, with you updating the first post instead of making another one at the end. That way, when you get to more than one page, you'll have to start with the first page to see the changes and then go to the last page to find new comments. It won't make things easier. That's my opinion, anyway. Edit: And the thread just reached two pages...
  16. "With boughs of folly"? :D Nice to see them all together. They're just about to be set up on my shelf, too.
  17. I ordered the modular flower shop instructions from Fully Brick Models a while ago, and built most of it in LDraw just to have a look at how it all comes together - and I'm a bit surprised to see that this is more or less a copy. There are very few differences apart from the colours and the use of the ground floor for a cake shop instead of a flower shop. The interior of the first floor (aka bachelor pad) is exactly the same, down to the smallest details. I can see that one would want to re-use a good design for more than one building if one had spent so much time doing it in the first place (and I definitely admit that a lot of these solutions are superbly clever), but I'd feel a bit disappointed if I had bought the cake shop instructions after the flower shop instructions - and then discovered that the building was more or less the same. Still, I very much look forward to seeing how this develops - I'm considering buying the bricks for the flower shop, but the piece count is simply massive, so I could probably build two less detailed modulars for the same price :)
  18. 2) The Lord of the Rings scene by Thor Lund - 2 points 3) The Mist scene by Yatkuu - 1 point
  19. 12) Woodcutter Entry by Skafte - 1 point 22) Pharaoh Queen Entry by Dan Church - 1 point 35) Godzilla Entry by Cecilie - 1 point
  20. Hopefully, not as torn as the minifig in the picture. That would be painful.
  21. I always apply them. But then again, I don't normally use sets as parts packs - if I had been, I certainly wouldn't apply the stickers. Isn't it (more or less) that simple? If you intend to use the model as is, it will always look better with the stickers - as the designer intended - but if you don't, then it's much more practical to leave them on the sheet.
  22. Unless I'm very much mistaken, all three of these torsos appear exclusively in store opening sets (at least in these colours). Yet there are some store opening sets which contain regular torsos that you can find in a lot of different sets - and these seem to go at almost the same prices, which I find very hard to understand. I mean, I'd happily pay a few extra bucks (not those crazy inflated prices, though) to get exclusive torsos, but not to get something I could pick up from the build-a-minifig section in any Lego store...
  23. I quite like this - the colour is everything but subtle, and the way you've done the rear spoiler is neat. Because you've used curved slopes on the front (which have square ends) I think you'd be better off using tiles for headlights on this one, instead of cheese slopes. The front will be more square, but you'll get rid of that slightly strange overhang (in the far left of the first picture). But regardless, it's a nice design :)
  24. I've got all of the Architecture sets so far, and I have to say that Fallingwater is still my favourite, even after building Robie House. The colour of Robie House is lovely, but it's quite a repetitive build with all those 1x2 plates. Still, it looks good sitting on the shelf :)
  25. Thanks, both of you! I beg to differ. Have you seen any of the pictures where the trailer is connected? I think it's pretty accurate.
