  1. They're both absolutely brilliant - my favourite is St. Winifred's Well, though, because of the lovely water and greenery. I just love the detail you achieve by using all those 1x1 round plates. Your MOCs are just about the best I see around this site, and I'd love to see more pictures.
  2. This is certainly creative! And with it being situated by the sea like that, and those interesting angles in the back, it reminded me instantly of the building in the bottom half of page 39 in the 226 idea book - I'll just link to it, as it's bigger than the guidelines permit. Good job - and I join Lightningtiger in daring you to build an interior!

    Fire rescue

Very nice, Cecilie - like LT says, the damage to the floor is brilliantly done. And that looks like a tough firefighter :) Is that a bonsai tree on the dresser?
  4. I like it. Simple and elegant, and nice colours. The details above the doors add that extra touch.
  5. Thanks, guys :) On snaillad's original, they are 4x1 curved slopes - but as you say, it's not available in dark red. So I had to cheat and use 3x1 slopes with a 1x1 tile :)
  6. Thanks! Yeah, the lime green monster is definitely a bit over the top, but as you say, I didn't try to show restraint :) Thanks! The starting point for the van was so good I couldn't really go very wrong, you know... :) The top part of the tailgate is made up of four of these (part number 6060):
  7. I have to agree with Lyichir there - it doesn't look like much more than a plate (maybe a plate and a half) from the top of the alien minifig's head to the top of the Friends minifig head. Remember, the Friends fig is wearing a hairpiece, and that alien head even looks a bit smaller than a regular minifig head.
  8. I saw your pics as you uploaded them to Flickr earlier, and it's really a wonderful MOC. The exterior with the bay window and the window above the door is very nice, but the interior is even better. Nice and clean design, lovely tiled floors, and the colour combinations are just about perfect. Very well done! Oh, and I love the milk van. But that shouldn't come as a surprise :)
  9. V-LV-43A & V-LV-43B, V-LV-43D & V-LV-43E, V-LC-14D Hello again! After the four MOCs in February, and the eight additional ones about a month ago, the time has come for another batch of city vehicles from me. I've tinkered around a bit in MLCad, like I normally do, drawing inspiration from different sources, in this case a couple of well-documented ones, as well as building stuff I've just dreamt up myself. I've uploaded them gradually to Flickr, and you may have seen them pop up there from time to time over the past week or so. But here they are all together, in my usual building style, most of them with hinges for rear-view mirrors and NXT tiles for rear numberplates (where there's room). I hope you'll find them inspiring! 1) The Sean Kenney SUV. Not really much to say about this one - it's just my own slightly different version of Mr. Kenney's little SUV from his book "Cool Cars and Trucks". There wasn't a green version of this exact model in the book, so I thought I'd see how that looked - and it turned out quite well. I also added a steering wheel, naturally, and changed the rear end a tiny little bit. I'm really enjoying putting together the minifigs for these vehicles. This one I'm particularly happy with. 2) The Sean Kenney Pickup. Again, more or less the same design as in the book, but I made room for a minifig inside (that's somehow quite important to me). Also, I was intrigued by the idea of making a medium blue car, and this colour really stands out. In this case, I tried to make the owner look American - as this kind of car is a huge favourite across the pond. 3) The Streamliner. Now, the front 2/3 of this next design is pretty much a shameless rip-off of fellow Eurobricker snaillad's Art Deco van, which I fell totally in love with. You can see the original here (on Flickr) or here, in his Modular Art Deco Department Store thread. And yes, I did ask him for permission to post this. What I wanted to add to the design, though, was an even more streamlined rear end, something like this: I also wanted to change the windscreen and use a split train screen instead, which left didn't leave me with a whole lot of colour options. I ended up with black, and then I wanted a dark colour for the rest of the van, to match it - a dark one, blue, green, or red - and ultimately went with dark red because it was the one with the most available bricks that I needed. This is what came out of it: Going with dark red did pose one problem: I needed some 1x1 bricks with stud on one side to attach the rounded SNOT parts to the rear, but they're not available in that colour. So I extended the black from the cabin backwards, which isn't perfect, but works in a way. For the upper attachment, I used a 1x1 brick with studs on four sides, camouflaging the three sides not in used with a) a grille tile, b) an interior light, and c) a 1x1x1 corner panel... I'm very happy with the design, and reasonably happy with the colours. And I'm proud of the SNOTwork on that tailgate. It took a bit of thinking to find a solution, but this one works really well and is very sturdy: 4) The Shooting Brake. This is me on my own again - and it might look pretty strange at first. But the idea was to make a daily driver for Roger the millionaire - you can meet him here - to go with his massive Lime Light steam engine. So, to match the long boiler of the engine, I made the bonnet (hood) very long. The result is a bit unusual, I admit. But hey, that was how Roger wanted it :) I changed the roof colour from lime to black during the transition from MLCad to real bricks to better match the locomotive: 5) The Targa(s). This, I think, is the pièce de résistance of this batch of cars. Obviously, my aim was to recreate the iconic sports cars of a certain German manufacturer, and although the inspiration came from this MOC by AFOLEGODT, it evolved quite a lot from there. I think I've succeeded quite well in my quest to make these Porsche-like, although I did take a bit of artistic liberty. This is probably the one I'm most satisfied with of all the designs I've done so far after my dark ages. I'm happy with the drivers here, as well :) I experimented a while with colour combinations, and regret not building a grey one, maybe with a dark grey center stripe. Time will tell - maybe I'll reserve that colour for a Speedster. Anyway, I also found that this was the perfect place to use BrickForge's new lens pieces. So there you have it: Another batch of vehicles. I've got some more in the pipeline, some big and some smaller, some inspired by other MOCs, some by real vehicles, and some that don't look like anything I've seen on the road. We'll see if you like them. I hope you've enjoyed the show, and please feel free to comment - it's what makes me better! More pictures can be found in the Vehicles set in my Flickr.
  10. You know, wooootles, this one is so eerily similar to a car that I've designed in MLCad that it's almost a bit scary. It's six-wide, using the same mudguards, the same windscreen and roof piece, almost the exact same colour scheme, and the Stig as a driver. I'm just waiting for the last pieces to arrive, and I'll post it on the forum.
  11. I just thought I'd let you know that I rebuilt the roof of the bank tonight, and it looks much better now that I took Locutis' suggestion into consideration. I'll just have to wait for some proper sunlight to take some nice pics, and I'll share it. Thanks for all the input, I really appreciate it!
  12. Worth the effort. Definitely.
  13. Thanks a lot for the suggestions! I admit that option 1 was the original one, but I definitely agree with gifinim that... The thing is, the exact thing that doesn't work with option 1 is that... But the best solution really appears to be this: Nice photo editing. I think I'll go with that and see how it looks. The rest of the building I'm quite satisfied with - especially the interior. I think that's what I do best. So I'm looking forward to finishing this thing and getting to show you what it looks like out of the computer :)
  14. Hi there! Quite a while ago, I designed a modular bank in MLCad - like I normally do when constructing new MOCs - and ended up with a product I was quite happy with. Then I ordered the bricks (a lot of them) and built it. But when I did, I realised I liked all about it... from the top floor down. I'm not sure the roof is right, and this is a problem I seem to run into every time I get to that part of a modular MOC. I usually just let it go, but this time I went back to MLCad and tried a fresh start. The end result this time was quite different - but I just can't decide which one I prefer. Then I thought: Isn't that what fellow Eurobrickers are for? So here's the deal: I've built this bank. It's sitting on top of my piano, complete with one of the roof solutions. I'm just not sure if that should be the final design. I've got the bricks for the other one as well - so after I get some input, I'll add the finishing touches and post it to Flickr - and here. Which design do you prefer? Option 1: Option 2: Please let me know what you think!
  15. I really like this - as others have already said above, they look like great pieces to display alongside their bigger siblings :) Really? :D
  16. Let me just chime in with the others - this is really great. The design is clean and neat, and the water tower is brilliant - for some reason, the part with the brown doors on the water tower annex is my favourite. That, and the toilet :) The whole thing is wonderful - but then again, I didn't expect anything less!
  17. This is your new town, and already the decay has set in? :) Great-looking buildings. I love the weathering touches and all the things going on, like the kid with the SW mask. Nice! Oh, and I just had to add: The sports/memorabilia shop is a really good idea. And that narrow gray building in between the two others is also a great touch.
  18. Funny you should say that! As a kid, I owned both (well, still do, but they're back at my parents' place) and that's exactly how I treated them. I would always put the fuel pump attendant in the tow truck.
  19. I like the Porsche, but that rear end for some reason reminds me more of a 914 than a 911. Can't really understand why, though...
  20. I don't really collect MISB sets. However, I've currently got a couple lying around, for different reasons: I bought a 21100 (the Cuusoo submarine) for myself, and had it shipped from Japan. It was reasonably cheap, and shipping for three wasn't all that much more expensive, so I thought 'well, I can afford a couple of spares, and these might appreciate in value over time.' This is, as I say, not something I normally do, but in this case it seemed like a good idea. And I've got a Taj Mahal, which I intended to build at the time I bought it, but it's just so darn big that I haven't really had the room to build or display it. Thus it stays untouched in its box, and as much as I'd love to build it (after all, it's the biggest set ever) I don't really see any more room miraculously showing up in my apartment any time soon. So I'm considering leaving it in the box until I can actually make money on it...
  21. This is getting better and better. I love the clean style - and your simplest ideas may just be your best, like the toilet brush and dow bowl :) EDIT: Dow bowl? What on earth is that? DOG bowl. DOG.

    MOC City vehicles

Haha, that's funny - not so strange that I like it, then :) Although I'm not too fond of the yellow one, I applaud your attempt to try something different. That's the way to make progress - and somebody's bound to like it!

    MOC City vehicles

That's interesting - I was going to say that the yellow one doesn't do it for me. The hot rod, on the other hand, I really like. Taste differs :)
  24. I really like the end result - it looks better with a bit more colour. And the touch with the wing plate on top of each staircase, as an extra step, is a very nice one.
  25. I really like this! While I still prefer the traditional modular style with removable roof, the idea of removing the walls along with the roof is a novel touch. I love the transparent Jets sign, the kitchen and, not least, the refrigerator with the soft drinks. Colours are nice, too. Well done!
