  1. Hi there. I was messing around in MLCad the other day, trying to build a version of my Ace of Spades hot rod, and I wanted to do the front end differently so that they wouldn't end up looking too similar. But I can't decide which design I like the best, so I thought I'd ask you. Here are the three alternatives: The rest of the car isn't quite done yet - I'm not sure that I want to do the rear end that way, either. But which front end do you prefer?
  2. I'm reasonably sure that the white part is part of the platform, and the silver bar belongs to the lamppost you see just below the train in the picture. I do like the train and think you've done a good design job overall, but I'm guessing you could get some cornering (or at least overhang) issues with such a long distance between the central bogie and the other wheels. I also wonder whether the section between the red doors and the front/end of the train is 2-3 studs too long, in comparison to the rest?
  3. These are all great, but my favourites are the Great Wall and the Greek temple. Oh, and the work you've done on the roof of that Tibetan building. Looks fantastic! Suggestions: The Stonehenge would be a natural, although admittedly quite easy, inclusion. And maybe, staying on the British isles, Brú na Bóinne?
  4. It's a very good idea and a nice build - and my favourite detail is that tree root breaking through the back wall. That's realism!
  5. A great Greyhound bus, but I feel I'm repeating myself, I've already used all the superlatives :)
  6. Some very nice interior details on this, but for me the facade is the star of the show! Great job on the white detailing.
  7. Personally, I'd make an effort to include a staircase between the two top floors as well, as I feel any modular should have them. That said, you're on your way to a very nice building. I didn't spot the half-stud offset on the windows and door on the ground floor until now, that's nice.
  8. I really like this - it looks very realistic. And the presentation is great, with just the right amount of life to emphasise the details. You should build a version of this on a 16x32 plate and make it compatible with the modular buildings - that way you could enter it into Category 2 of the Modular Madness competition :)
  9. But it looks nothing like the other modulars. I don't think there are many people who believe it's not an upcoming set, but I find it much more likely that it's a standalone D2C set from the Monster Fighters line. I'm with those who are guessing a restaurant here - I believe the cooking comment from Jamie Berard was a hint. Sounds familiar ;)
  10. This build is progressing quite nicely. I really like your clean design! But of course! Let's hope that come November, Mr Bardal can repeat his magnificent performances from last season :)
  11. I certainly agree. If I may just draw the comparison to Norway vs. the UK here: If I want to buy 10224 Town Hall on S@H in Norway, the price is NOK 1,799 (exactly US$ 300). If I buy it in the Lego store in the Westfield shopping centre in London, the price is GB£ 149.99 (US$ 235.55). So, the difference is US$ 65.45. The cheapest return airline fare from here to London is US$ 154. Which means that I would be stupid not to travel to London at least once a year and pick up a few sets - especially when I can get these sets back into the country without paying taxes as long as a) I stay abroad more than 24 hours and b) the combined value of what I take home with me is less than US$ 1,000...
  12. ...but your profile says Austria?
  13. No offense, but this has been discussed so many times now that it's getting a bit tedious. Granted, the prices in Australia are ridiculously high, but almost equal to the prices in Norway (and, for that matter, in Denmark - the origin country itself). Have a look at this topic - and at the Norwegian S@H prices I've compared your Australian prices to in this post. Danish prices are only slightly lower than the Norwegian ones. Again: This is just to let you know that Australians are not alone in this world in paying much more for Lego products than Americans. And I'm also a bit tired of people talking about "European" prices. It's not like the prices are the same in all European countries.
  14. Hey, it's finished! And it looks gorgeous! The colour mix is unusual, but works very well, and the whole building is just as imposing as a museum like this should be. Apart from that, I really applaud your choice of front doors :D
  15. This is looking very good! The interior details you've got thus far are great - I love the oven and the cash register. The colours are also nice. Off-topic: I'm slightly intrigued by the ski jumpers in your Flickr contact list :)
  16. This is going to look so good when you're done.
  17. Obviously, the locomotive itself is gorgeous. But that lettering... you're incredibly good at that!
  18. I prefer the original colours, with the white/yellow awnings and the dark red roof, but if you change the yellow to red it's a logical choice to change the roof as well. Apart from that personal choice on the colours I think you've done a pretty darn good job with this. Adding another 16x32 is a very good idea, and it's amazing to see how much more room you get inside from doing that. The bar and the reception area are my favourite parts of this, but some of your custom stickers are pretty neat too, especially the H with the stars just outside the hotel door. I think I'd maybe have tried not to cram so many rooms into the upper floors, as they end up quite cramped - but still: Great job!

    Lovely Sailboat

I know that it's sometimes used in military circumstances, but I was under the distinct impression that it's generally frowned upon for a private vessel to fly the Jolly Roger.
  20. I was thinking along the same lines myself, before finally deciding on another idea for my entry. But yours is an excellent version of a small urban cemetery, just the thing to break up a modular row of buildings. Good luck! EDIT: Spelling.
  21. Smaller than your other ships - but that says more about your other ships than it does about this. I wouldn't exactly call this a mini MOC :) and, of course, it's just as good-looking as all your other ships. Looking forward to Skærbæk :)

    Lovely Sailboat

Very nice! If the people on that boat have any sense, though, they'd remove that pirate flag as soon as possible. As far as I know, sailing under that flag is not considered a joking issue in most maritime circles...
  23. That means, roughly, "see much Swedish for me". Google Translate?
  24. I didn't think it was quite as serious as an execution, but if you say so... :D
