  1. Really great minifig scale engines... ;-) I put some small working piston engines into the Technic forum - definitely not minifig scale (unless you put them into boats / industrial machines) but probably correct for the old technic figure scale.
  2. Thanks - I had planned to do it this weekend for a project and now have more Lego building time. Most apprecited!
  3. Speculation! A thought which went through my mind - if this does end up being just for Maersk (hoping not) then perhaps like the 3221 Lego Truck vs Toys R Us Truck (+ shop) - there would also be a version planned for AFOL - perhaps plainer colours? And that would really annoy TLG if it is released early. Speculation.
  4. You would be much better off taking the time to split the set into smaller bundles. For example I think I saw a railbricks custom flatbed truck - brown - (one of their offers) which would go for 150 Euro on its own. I guess whatever is causing you this anguish - it is better to remove the far too low price and split the lots - even if it is for shorter selling periods it will help you gain more $$ (or PL) than one too larger a lot. And dont forget to keep some simple blocks for yourself - and LDD for designing freely.
  5. Good point - but you would need to check the clearance with the 2 1x1 technic studs (of the piston heads) - in fact from memory I think I tried it last May but I am not certain.
  6. Of course not - it would be great to see them in some cool models; I still have other plans up my sleves for inserting into the VW Beetle (if I ever find one cheap). If you are running long length crankshafts with a motor it might be worth using (ahem) a bit of epoxy on the axles --> 1/2 lift arms to reduce deformation. I have a V12 version but it requires additional support in the middle to stop the crankshaft flexing too much, and is not so small.
  7. Sorry. Links fixed. I failed to notice late last night the "http://http://". Done now. Thanks for all the nice comments; glad it is appreciated.
  8. Mini (working) V-Piston Engines by Roamingstudio Oh and one of the tanker wagons is missing from the thread index. Im not too bothered but thought I should mention it.
  9. Back in the spring / summer I had designed some small working EMD units which could fit into Lego trains, making the bog standard diesel locomotives a bit more interesting for kids. The designs were finished, some videos made but because LDD was lacking the right parts, I never got around to posting the LXF files. Ive finally got around to finishing them, and have posted the files below. The crank shaft is a little wobbly on the V8 model (the tolerances on the thin lift arms and axles are not ideal) but it does work at full power from both a PF M and XL motor. Just be careful. Whilst I would agree that they dont look perfectly like the EMD units, kids certainly find them fun, and they are still smaller than the standard technic engine units. Enjoy. V4 Unit V6 Unit V8 Unit V8 Unit, slightly different
  10. Well since green grocer has been discontinued on Lego site and is only going to go up in price, if you ever want it, get it now. Otherwise the FireBrigae has a nice set of features and a good building style.
  11. The Maersk train is probably something which has caused a bit of pain. Imagine if this is only going to be for select Maersk customers - or competitions - and then everyone gets to hear about it and add's it to their wanted list... However since the same image also appeared on a few NL shop sites, with information not provided on the brickset site, then it is more likely some companies / individuals ignored an 'embargo' which is often placed on pre-releasing information. Confidential images as appearing for PotC are a different matter - the models may be months away from completion and final changes being undertaken / testing / and licensing issues! Imagine the models will not be officially released for 9 months - but children start asking for it on birthday present lists already? There certainly will be some parents who get given pictures / links and wont understand the model is not yet available for little Mr Precocious, and will get angry with TLG for not providing x,y,z. In the end TLG listen to AFOL's and do what they can to make excellent models which we can all enjoy - either as AFOL or KFOL. Publically postulating over what pieces the set might or might not contain or how it is technically built may be very fun for AFOL's (and I for one enjoyed this on 10219) it does not help improve the model or TLG customer relations. Exclusive models are exclusive for a reason... lets publically debate new sets once they are available for preorder (and this is something I will start from now). Beside, then you get the zoom images as well!
  12. Well the dutch store has a proper link, image, which would indicate that it is probably for general public... wooo hooo!
  13. Now this is looking really good. Makes you want to put a camera inside and drive one just like the real thing Seriously though the only downside I can see is that they are almost too narrow compared to the Sx series - but then 6 wide is the standard these days. Did you attempt to make the doors open at all? The curves on the upper glass work are also just right. However to be really picky... the window spacing should be slightly different for the mixed 1st / 2nd class carriage in the middle. Excellent - im forwarding to my Swiss friends in USA.
  14. The alternative LA design is really interesting....
  15. Qu: How many 'exclusives' numbers (1xxxx) have been limited edition for employees of some company or another? I know the new Japenese submarine has a 2xxxx number, the Vesta Windmill had 4999, and Maersk (original)? Certainly this model would *SELL*. There is no doubt about that - and if it becomes Maersk employees only, then it will be a real disappointment. However the nice 6 wide (?) containers (that means TTX must be wider) will be a welcome addition to the 7939 containers - they seem to be similar sized (small containers that is)... One really happy person - who has to watch their pennies for UniMog and this... Oh and checking the picture again - it seems the bogeys are un-motorised (the decal is too uniform) - so perhaps an upgrade feature like EN - especially when the new 7938 / 7939 powered bogeys are produced. Not sure where the power supply unit could sit (unless it too is custom coloured) - and the front nose could (potentially) conceal a IR receiver - hopefully with a suitably coloured grey base.
  16. Oh and on some of the linked comments people asked about why buy multiples. A good example was a TTX train I saw on my way to Barstow Station - with 3 Union Pacific locos at the front - then another two in the middle - the train was about 2km long.
  17. After recently driving between Vegas and LA, Barstow Station at el... and seeing this the answer is YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!
  18. From Experience... Hiding from the wife works well... until the number of boxes arriving start causing a problem. Since it seems you will be driving to the pick up it might be easier to find a freind you can trust and slowly bring models one at a time into the home... ;-) Or just blame the kids.
  19. Well you could do something cool with these... - Part 6059 - Part 2572pb04 Or take a leaf from the Santa Fe observation car - but is not so nice with thick macaroni bricks Use the windscreen glass Or old Space Slope 33 3 x 6 without Inner Walls mounted on its edge (SNOT) Or Windscreen (Bricklink -> Catalog -> Search Trans-Clear is really useful!)
  20. You asked for some thoughts on how to improve the design. Some quick ideas which flashed through my head... Involve making the windows from panels turned 90 degrees to the right. This would require some SNOT work but would allow you to place a 1x4 flat brown brick between the 'glass' panels. At the end to get the slant you could also fit a panel onto a set if hinge blocks, and tilt it back slightly. However perhaps it is better to take a leaf out of some of the other observation cars which exist, but keeping the Emerald Belle colour line. A nice tour carriage... Devon Belle from a different perspective Using some curved glass And a very interesting link to restore car ~14 to the Swanage Railway http://www.swanagerailway.co.uk/news322.htm (it is close to my parents Home... being an ex Dorset kid)
  21. Thanks for settting this up... it will be useful for many people. So I will link the LXF Files I have generated (mainly under train tech) LDD MOC Tanker Wagons by RoamingStudio - LXF LDD MOC Tanker Wagons V2 by RoamingStudio - LXF LDD MOC Carless Petrol Tanker by RoamingStudio - LXF
  22. If you check out the threads on Narrow Gauge railways, and also the links on railbricks, you will find it is possible to use normal Lego plates alongside the new RC / 9V system. This could provide you a way to make a suitable jump plate between the two standards.
  23. True... but I prefer your designs over the club car... and i've seen a nice EN cargo wagon with sliding doors from a Moc'er in Switzerland.
  24. Thanks for a great idea and some really useful links... It looks great to see a new carriage car - perhaps giving TLG some ideas for their future add-on packs, although we know that really the chances are slim.
  25. Someone (DoLittle?) had posted a link in the Technic forum some time ago - yep definitely a great film!
