  1. When I started LDD it wanted to connect to the internet and download a load of adverts for the Lego Universe stuff... in its webpane (right hand side). Unfortunately there is an error in the downloaded website files (listed as a Debug error) - which continuously interupts my work to say there is an error. Even if I close the panel (minimise arrows) it still sends the error every 1-2 seconds. Most definitely annoying - it makes LDD unusable... So does anyone know how to switch off the Webpage adverts (also known as spam) - without having to kill my internet connection? Thanks
  2. Oh.... That would make all the 'magic' connections necessary to fix models now, probably illegal. The question is how would this be loaded? the 'magic' disappearing lego bricks? Or just a block removed. Take a nice complicated UCS model and work out which single piece did not get reloaded.... or a modular house... A bit of fun for those making official models in LDD... The Brick Giveth, and the Brick Taketh away... but the Brick will be always with you...
  3. Actually in Switzerland the Post Boxes (outgoing mail) in the mountains have this icon. And then they became popular for people to have these as Letter Boxes (incoming mail). Sorry - for me it is obviously a outgoing mail box in a small alpine village. Just green, not yellow (for Swiss Post).
  4. THANKS. I was planning on doing some of my old childhood lego (lost now).... so cool
  5. Check through the varios issues of Railbricks - there are some nice model of bogeys which do not use the fancy plate. Sometimes it is better to also change all bogeys into a nice design.
  6. Question on B Models.... Do they go in the same thread as the main model? 851 / 951 Tractor B Models LXF File Errors: None. It was tricky getting the cogs (gears) and links to mesh properly - but otherwise a fun challenge.
  7. From the Lego Education Catalogue 9798 NXT Rechargable battery Capacity 1400mAH. Recharge time 4-5 hours. Needs adapter 9833. Colour dark grey (bley) 9693 NXT Rechargable battery Capacity 2100mAH. Recharge time 4-5 hous. Use 8887 10V transformer. Colour off white. I have run my NXT from mains, through the rechargable battery, for >48 hours continuous movement without issue.
  8. On the 851 Technic tractor, 1x2 bricks are connected to the large gear wheel with their studs pressed into the various holes (step 7), however in LDD this will not work. Sample image here For the model I have used technic studs, connected the bricks upside down and used 2x2 tile plates instead. Getting the gears to mesh in LDD was a pain - but worked eventually.
  9. 851 / 951 Technic Tractor Farmer Giles was getting on in his years, and was no-longer able to pilot his trusty tractor. Unbeknown to him, the naughty grand-children had started doing a MOD, starting with new wheels. However they were not very bright and found the front wheels could easily fall off due to the lack of friction on the axle. LXF file Errors The back wheels are wrong. Consequently the top mud guards are lifted up by 1x6 plate (underneath). The rear tail light is an ilegal build in original model; so a modified element set is used. The 3L universal joint is used instead of the 4L. But it still works. The hinge plate (2x4) is replaced with some modified plates with handles and horizontal clips. But it does the job with the 3L universal joint Front wheels have no friction grip to the axles. Perhaps LDD 4.0 will give us the piece? As mentioned in another thread, it is NOT possible to place the brick studs into the large gears as required for some of the implements. I have used technic studs and reversed the bricks and plates to make the model. The mono-wheel to 2x2 plate uses the new plate with holder and not the old style. Thanks to Blakbird who pointed me in the right direction when the 851 instruction set went completely hay-bale, especially when the early poster version has many mistakes between steps. The various tools and appliances will be added over the next few days.
  10. Technic Crane 855 / 955 (USA) Inspired by LDDTechnician's Forklift truck, I decided to make the main model of the Lego Technic 855 / 955 mobile crane. LXF File here Thanks to LDDTechnician for the wheels, and idea to use green gears instead handles. Hopefully something which can be remedied in LDD 4.0 (?) Errors: The old axle ends with studs are replaced with the studdless Axle ends The main boom does not lie flat (even in original model) and is a pig to get right in LDD. Hence the 'erect' version. The axle end on the far side of the boom will not fit. This seems to be some form of boundary error as it works on the There is no string - any help on using string tool in LDD? closer side. The black turntable at the base is made from alternate parts - if anyone knows how to use large black turntable let me know I could not find the back shutters for the compartments. I could only find 2x3 which is too large. The end of the boom should have the two bricks separated by plates; but this causes a boundary error by the top gear. I replaced it with a gold coloured 1x6 technic beam (which works) and left the original parts at the back. The model made use of the original 4 stud long universal joints. I have used the new 3 stud ones, and kept the axles at 8M long. IF you build this using new components, I would suggest replacing the 8M axles with 9M (if you can find them). Trying to rotate the main jib on the base caused LDD to vanish. As always the main elements are grouped to ease your model building. This is probably my favourite model - it was the one I always wanted as a child and never received. If anyone has the original ideas instruction books I could also attempt the modification suggested to the large mobile crane - combining 855 and 850. EDIT LDD 4 Version LXF File here
  11. Im thinking also of some of the early Lego Technic - e.g. Mobile Crane 855 / 955. So please consider it DONE. I will be at a conference and plan to also have some fun... so next one will be 10196 Carousel. This should provide more than a few hours of design headaches.
  12. When doing searches in Bricklink I often locate the 'Inventory' of an existing set known to contain the part (Catalog Inv), and from this can see the exact part numbers I need from BL. E.g. if I know the part exists in 10016 (e.g. 4x4x8 round panel quater), then I go to the inventory, find the item, and can click on it. Then I can see which other sets it appears in, and especially, which colours are available. Then add the item to a wanted list, or write down the top 5 sellers and later cross reference with other searches. Hope this can help Catalog for 10016 View Inventory White Panel 4 x 4 x 6 Quarter Cylinder Available in these sets (colour)
  13. Cool... Congratulations. Certainly deserve it. I realise that TLG probably have non-disclosure but it would be great for some informal feedback about the workshop (for next time). Well done!
  14. What is the supply voltage loss over the rectifier?
  15. I would add an off-white line of tiles and studs at the end of the platform - to symbolise piles of snow. Typically during snows, our platforms will be clear (along the train track) but edges could have anywhere between 10-50cm of piled snow. Otherwise really nice... just in time for a Santa Delivery as he stocks up on bread before travelling...
  16. 7593 Toy Story Buzz's LightShip LXF File What does not work Canopy does not close properly (collision error) The side elements of canopy cannot fit (collision error) Mini-Zurg made from various elements Mini-Buzz taken from Buzz Mini-Lightship (Prateek) The 1x2 plate with clip (horizontal) are replaced with 1x1 clips (horizontal) and 1x1 plates No stickers (as ever) A second minor error is that the hinge tool did not like raising and lowering the rear ramp. Fixed manually. As always all major play elements are grouped to aid construction (within LDD) Edit Updated to LDD 4 LXF File
  17. Congratulations... something and someone to aspire to! The Portfolio's are amazing - and definitely TLG made a good choice.
  18. Good question on the DirectX. I will check - definitely version 9.C or above - as I also have the Direct X SDK installed for development work (using Irrlicht graphics engine).
  19. Yeah I can perhaps finish some models.... ;-) The instructions also looked professional and logical - but then it could also be luck. However the hover over item and select different colour options (hinge bracket) was nice. And the quality of the rendering in the second video is also great. Is this the result of example models which TLG requested?
  20. Or you can upload to a flickr / mocpages account and link into that in the post. Or find some nice person to host it for you. What is the question - maybe someone can help without having to see everything.
  21. Well it depends upon your wishes. The first aim was to have something which works in 'push along mode' since that is how most children enjoy playing with trains. Hence placing a motor is not needed. Older children and AFOL's like making things remote controlled. Both the Santa Fe and B unit's can have the M-Motor placed inside the body of the train and connected directly to the engine. You are correct that in these circumstances the battery pack has to live in a second body. However this is not strictly necessary for the models. If you use the new PF Bogey motor (from the new cargo trains) it would be possible to have one 'powered' set, and one which 'connects to the EMD unit'. A battery pack could then fit inside the Santa fe (just behind the seat)... and fitting the R/C unit is possible if the EMD V6 is replaced with a V4 version. This was done for a motorised version of the Swiss AM 843 (still Work in Progress - WiP).
  22. Agreed... But I did not have other MOC's done at that point. The Micro-Engine is now posted on the trains forum.
  23. Does this mean you are making it - or requesting someone to do it? A bit ambiguous.
  24. Im not sure if others have reported this. When Im using LDD I get the annoying 'brick click' sound... then after a while it disappears; and all other applications loose sound options as well (e.g. skype, Video Lan Player etc). It needs a reboot to get it working again. Windows XP SP 3. Lenovo X200 Conexant High Definition Smart Audio drivers v221 This happens regularly - whenever I use LDD - but not when I use any other application. I can also replicate it by entering hibernate mode with LDD active. When I restart the sound will be dead. Oh well.
  25. Might have been mentioned before. In Buzz Lightship there is a 1x2 plate with modified clip which does not exist (or I could not find under plate, modified).
