  1. 8x8 radar dish... or 8x8 tile (round) or there is an even larger round plate (I need to check BL).
  2. Hmm... I did not remember that. So a quick link into the different combinations which were released (I wont make a difference between 4.5V, 9V, 12V unless there is a significant one). and Note on the 9V points the track does not seem to end straight as it did on 12V and 4.5V and The incorrectly functioning double cross over - this is not the same as a diamond double cross over (check the wikipedia link). An interesting 3 way switch (which would be fun for Indiana Jones Track) and a proper Wye Switch
  3. Diamond Cross over - i.e. the two tracks at 45 / 135 degrees apart, and you need curves to make it work. However it makes asseembly using logical studs much harder. Double Cross Over - these are regularly seen in large yards. Trains are not expected to be going fast over them... A good link in Wikipedia Agreed a wider radius curved track would be nice. Flex can get to a tighter radius but it is only suitable for slow moving objects. In one railbricks magazine someone shows how to modify the standard points so that the slip line is much shorter - allowing a normal design for goods yards. This would be great to have - but once again makes designing a layout harder for children.... although with the advent of Flex track it would be good.
  4. In Switzerland it is very common to give flowers at New Year, wishing good luck. There is nearly always a chimney sweep in a top hat holding a ladder - and sometimes a bride.
  5. Railbricks had a great in-keeping coach design by Tim Gouldwhich does not break the Bricklink Bank too much. Or you could (ahem) order a second Emerald Night... use the carriage, and either sell the engine and tender (makes more $$; on average around 35-40 GBP via Ebay) - or use the bits to build a nice small 'Ivor the Engine' style loko and keep some nice dark green for later. Finally - ive seen a good Post / Cargo car MOC of the Emerald Night car with sliding grey doors - only one normal tan window at the front. It was by a great Swiss designer Tablizm - unfortunately not shown on Flickr but I still want to give credit.
  6. Next week I get a quick work paid trip to the CES exhibition in Vegas, and will be dropping by a friend near LA. Prices of Lego in $$ is much cheaper than Swiss Francs - and yet the exchange rate is roughly 1:1 so I plan to pick up some of my wanted buys for 2011 at an early time. Unfortunately this is mostly for Exclusive items. 10217 Diagon Alley $149 vs CHF 229 10213 Shuttle Adventure $100 vs CHF 135 10211 Grand Emporium $150 vs CHF 220 7985 City of Atlantis CHF 119 ?... Any hints on where to find deals in the Las Vegas / Corona Del Mar area will be useful... Thanks
  7. All entries are excellent, and it is hard to pick some favorites. But... Twigman (Lift) 2 points Kazenko (Greenhouse) 2 points Kost U Grlu (Train Station) 1 point
  8. Certainly looks like more control because the small compressor takes longer to fill the cylinder. Looking better and better... Poor Lego - the Uni-Mogi is the real cat out of the bag.
  9. Here here. I completely agree! HAHAHAHA!
  10. Thanks for checking - Well not a bad problem - my hunt for Dark Red windows continues (currently only found in the Motorised Hogwarts Exclusive set).
  11. Can anyone tell me if that is dark red windows I see in the Gringotts bank? If so, I will be very happy. Otherwise it will mean my current MOC will require some strange SNOT techniques.
  12. Now this is a really cool idea - thinking outside of the normal village houses and coming up with a nice Victorian? style greenhouse - or gardenhouse. It reminds me of some National Trust places I have visited over the years. A great way to return to brick building! Well done.
  13. Im still slowly working my way through the 10196 carousel in LDD 4.0- but hardly get any weekend time at the moment. But it is about 40% done and 100% correct parts and colours.
  14. Integrating a Combine Harvestor? Archimedes Screw in Roman Times?
  15. The recent issues have also been doing a really good article on PID design - this is an ideal guide for the laymen which can help people do some really fancy NXT based things. In general it is a great read - and tries to cater for everyone. Consequently some issues I find a bit tiresome, others are excellent. But when I compare it to the run of the mill magazines (off the shelf) - such as photography which repeat themselves with light weight irrelevant articles; it is really good. Although personally I do not always enjoy the interview series, there can be golden tidbits hidden away. I also very much enjoy the Railbricks magazines - I value them both for giving good clear reviews, great quality photos, and nice inspiration and shared building techniques. How to make it better - possible themed articles? E.g. A winter themed issue which could include reviews of some of the designs submitted for the Eurobricks Winter Village contest. Or a western theme; which could expand across all the themes; including a western style technic wagon & horse... western trains, and western forts. Building techniques for WigWams... I also think layouting and typesetting could be improved slightly - sometimes it feels there is too much white space or too many oversized irrelevant photos (e.g. large mobile crane on a page) - but then in the end this is an excellant fan based magazine produced by a dedicated group of people and not a commercial venture. So it should not be taken as critisicm or complaint!.
  16. I had the priviledge of obtaining one of Alisdair's other mini digger MOC's and I can say they are well designed and an impressive amount of working pneumatics built into a really small body. Definitely a great model for whoever wants to take it up. I would add with TechnicJuan - better photos which are well lit and not blurry would go down very well on E-Bay. Or if you want to be getting a better quality of purchaser - then perhaps on BrickLink's custom pages. I would suggest picking up a lightweight gorrilapod tripod to provide a bit of stability... and perhaps add a desk lamp (halogen would be good) to provide external lighting. This would help set the ambience.
  17. Well if this is as good as your mini JCB' MOC's then it will be a great build. An adventerous winter time for you.
  18. I find this could easily be another addition idea for 2011 - it fits the concept very well and looks excellent. Well done.
  19. Hi Alisadair Do you have an image to show which truck you are using for inspiration?
  20. Or if you live in Switzerland - visit your local Migros / Manor / Coop to pick them up as there are loads in store still.
  21. The tanker cars are also really nicely designed - do you have better pictures of them. Certainly the scale is the best i have ever seen... I wonder if it is worth doing rapid prototyping of larger scale curves to allow 8 wide on general.
  22. This deserves to become a future 2011 model...
  23. Thanks - exactly what I wanted as I have an BBB model which has too much wheel spin. A christmas topic.
  24. Lego S@H site, UK, has some new sales; Construct a Zurg at 50% off - and some other star wars and technic. Nothing major - im sure you could find better elsewhere - but worth a look.
  25. I reloaded my Carousel work - and it gives me the following Elapsed(69074) File does not contain brick set version, no hot fixes possible. Elapsed(107287) File does not contain brick set version, no hot fixes possible. Nothing appears missing- so it is hunt the small brick somewhere I guess.
