If there is a painter, then hopefully the building will be two tone / colour? That would be a nice change...
-
A bit out of scale with the nice one... but thats why I did all the 8 wide tankers (like 10016). But for now... this is all I show, waiting for more paint jobs in the marshelling yard. (All except the dark red are possible using bricklink orders).
-
Hint... the wagons of Great Western Chase (Toy Story) can be very helpful...
-
Im freeing up some of my lego space and unused bricks in preparation of some 10219 goodness; and decided to make up some small tanker wagons from the 3180 Truck set. I will also happily share the LDD files (once Ive made them). For better or worse I also decided to list them on ebay1 ebay2 and ebay3
-
Normally the trains must slowly traverse multiple sets of points...
-
Lets hope ME models are not sexist... first we see different male lengths; now we need some nice curves.
-
Why not use the LDD versions (linked on this forum somewhere) which can then be extracted to a wanted parts list via SuperKalle's excellent software.

4560/4561 - Railway Express 4560 / 4561 Train Set: Work in Progress! (I did not see it in the main thread index / thread search). The set is effectively complete (I did not spot anything missing), although I have had to use substitute parts: The platform ramp is made from custom bricks, plates and tiles The roof of the truck is replaced with modern equivalent The ramps inside the 'car' wagons are replaced with modern equivalent The metalic chrome silver modifed tiles with slots is not the correct colour LXF File: 4560 is identical to 4561 As always the sub models are individually grouped. Or you can download each of the sub models seperately. Passenger Wagon Auto/Car Wagon Cab / Locomotive Cars Containers Fuel Containers Platform area Truck Edit: Updated the list, models, and pictures. Edit-2: Updated the colours as per the request EDIT-3: Updated to LDD 4 LXF File: 4560 is identical to 4561Passenger Wagon Auto/Car Wagon Cab / Locomotive Cars Containers Fuel Containers Platform area Truck

Off Topic: Actually how do you organize a Lego Pre-Order? do you need to go to the shop directly? We dont have any Lego shops in Switzerland... and the S@H website is not much help...- 379 replies

Id also planned this (around the advent christmas train) but unfortunately did not have maersk blue bricks. This is great concept!... Now all we need are russian Containers - one inside the other inside the other....
-
In the 1970's the old Super Chief trains were finally superceded, ending the road of nostalgic beauty for the old railway man. As time progressed, he slowly collected old scrap parts to assemble his own container... to bring back nostalgia as he traveled the freight lines of continental USA. As time went by so the old man aged in years, writing the last of his postcards and sipping hot cocoa, passing into obscurity. Little is known of what became of the old man, but legend has it his container can still be found traveling around on the back of lonely Intermodal carriages, his postcards and mug still in place. Edit: Inside Picture (simple)
-
Beat me too it.... Definitely a worthy design as most containers in Europe are transported this way. Am also glad to see I am not the only one with the White Toy's R Us containers.
-
Im surprised if they need extra parts for updated instructions... that they dont supply the parts? Or perhaps its considered optional?
-
Agreed. It will look good; and if 7939 had not previously been released then a lot of people would probably be raving over it. The main reaction will be from KFOL and parents buying for their children, whereas 7939 appealed directly to KFOL and AFOL. I look forward to it; and wish people would show a video / photo of a long coal hauling locomotive with the loading bay...

If you look at railbricks website, you will see that this is presented as a teaser. If you follow through to ME-Designs website you will see that there will be news at the end of the month... and this is to generate hype. Currently some people speculate that the pioture means 9V track will be available in single 16L lengths - as per the old blue / grey (12V) track. This would be great for Indy Track / Narrow Gauge... possible through a new mold? (ME-Models is a custom model manufacturer, so it could be a-la-Big Bens Wheels idea). Someone went to a lot of lengths to make new parts for the CAD drawing, so it could be true... if it is I might hold off selling some of my 9V stuff... If new molds are generated, it would be nice to see new switch points, and indy / narrow gauge stuff as well ;-) (PLEASE).

Lego bids to build a greater appeal for girls
roamingstop replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
One of the big issues is that girls / boys become aware of social differences between them, and it is seriously uncool to be like what the other gender likes. This is social stereotyping and is highly prevelant in western countries, whether we are aware of it or not. There are certain key things we can watch with the way children play with Lego. Most 7-9 year old boys will be happy to imagine their new models / cars / construction vehicles / town vehicles running around on train sets, making the noises, having an active imagination. So you could consider this role play with mechanical / innanimate type objects. Most girls on the other hand tend to like to imagine their role much more, to play with the charactor's physical appearances. How many boys would comb the hair of their 'My Little Pony' sets, or dress up their dolls with flowery materials? And this is somehow something missing in Lego - even in Belville range. Mini-figs can have torso / head / wig / hat combinations, but physically not that different. Now if Lego took the maxi-fig series (from Technic models of old), and allowed them to have different types of clothing, proper hair, perhaps a scaled backpack, a scaled car built in a similar Lego way, then it is likely those of a more feminine gender will be very happy. Im sure the modular houses concept built as 'dolls houses' with more things like Mirrors, actual cups you can interact with etc, would be very welcome. I know a few girls who like Duplo because it offers excactly that sort of interaction - which gets lost in Minifig / City land. Similarly with older orientated Lego sets, you need to unlock the girls curioristy in how the model works. I remember having Lego lessons at schools, and the boistrous boys would always overshadow the girls, claiming better models etc, because thats what happens in younger ages. So the girls are not encouraged to express creativity that way. The key is to unlock their creativity, their interest, and to get rid of the 'uncoolness' of the building. Some large holywood named icons working with Lego would help a lot! -
18 available now... so it seems the order numbers are kept low on purpose.
-
Hey CopMike... Does that mean you also have the set? Could you verify how much of the container wagons are correct? LXF file The mini-figs look nice... thanks for the reviews. I wonder if BL will make a difference on the maersk blue caps? (long versus short?)
-
That was my sentiments... until I moc'ed up some (check the 10219 thread for the LDD files) and found that the black bases are too shinny and black. Since I will be getting 10219 (a few) I will definitely be selling... I have an old 9V motor and just discovered a cheap 'cab' (loco) bits <6 euro - so should be able to make up a set and sell it. Good to know I am on the right path.
-
I have a strange question... and am looking for some advice. I recently picked up a cheap auction of used bits, which included two almost complete 4560 / 4561 passenger carriages. However there was no locomotive.... or mini-figs. Having assembled these carriages (both 95% complete, just missing the seats) I find that they dont really fit with any of my other models (Santa Fe, BNSF, Emerald Night, and Western), and I will probably part with them on ebay / bricklink. But does it make sense to make up a partial set with loco (I have some unused 9V motors) or sell them seperately? (without containers?) That said, is it actually worth keeping the models and making my own custom Loco with PF parts? The set seems a strange one for people to like, and it picked my curiosity as to whether it was considered to be a good model? Certainly it is probably not a classic... but I dont know... So all thoughts are welcome.

Exclusive Train 10219 Maersk Train (Exclusive 2011)
roamingstop replied to paul_delahaye's topic in LEGO Train Tech
In the past I have been able to do a single order of 5; and then place a second order >5 within one or two days - assuming the first was charged with credit card. I would just assume that if they have difficulties shipping orders that the second one could be cancelled.- 379 replies

Need some help with my train snowblower moc
roamingstop replied to OctanTrucker's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Not easily unless you went to 8 wide ;-) But the plate idea might work with a bit of tinkering. Im not sure how well you would get the nice curved section unless you borrowed more from the Emerald Night boiler approach. The approach of 4533 Snow Blower was more of a 'no side panel' idea -

Some large plates / tiles with studs on the side and a bit of SNOT work would allow you to build a forward facing cover (left and right). A similar plate mounted with hinges would allow you to get the vertical slant above the blower. Note this should make it more then 6 wide, but less than 7. These can then be placed in front of a dark red macaroni pieces to give you the curve. Of course if you allowed yourself the luxury of an 8 wide blower, you could also use the 4x4x6 cylinder parts in dark red from the old farm silos. LXF File Just an idea - feel free to use / modify as you wish.
