Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

Yep... Definitely looks like they've used my artwork for it as the back matches too! I wonder if they'll take the Sam Wilson Cap artwork too? -

HA... I'm not bothered by them using it at all... I'm actually glad they have as I know it's pretty accurate if they did (although I was only working off the preview image from one side). I just need to hope SY are taking notice and then we can start getting designs under their nose. -

Ha... I'm wondering whether Decool used my artwork for their Arsenal: I only say that because the face they've used with the teeth bared isn't on the official figure... If the back of the figure looks like the artwork above then I'll have my answer. I quite like the Ras figure but I'd be switching the hips out for Gold or something else... just to replace those bladed hips... I'd probably change the head too... not overly keen on the other figures there to be honest. Arrow looks OK but I'd probably switch the legs out for regular dark green and change the head as the eyes and mask look odd. -

Well they've got Christo's Dr Manhattan, Rorschach and Comedian to work from... Silk Spectre should be easy enough but Nite Owl's moulding may cause them an issue... -

I've been looking at Bling this set too. I went through my parts and had around 300 or so of them already although mostly smaller parts. I added the inventory into my wanted list although I don't know how to use Brickefficiency... I think when I was planning the orders I ended up with three stores that had everything I needed which totalled around £260 although one of those was in the US so I would have incurred duty charges when it arrived in the UK. I'm waiting to sell a couple of large sets I'm putting on eBay (that I completed from incomplete eBay purchases... hence making a profit and paying for most of the set) before ordering. I'm hoping that I'll just have everything in Paypal to make the orders so I don't need to use any other money to complete it. One thing I would say is because most of the external brickwork is white I'm going for completely new pieces... I think any ageing on those white pieces is going to stand out like a sore thumb. Bricks and Pieces does seem much more expensive for most of the new items than they are on BL so I'm thinking getting your orders down to a few decent prices stores on BL is the best way to go. The problem is also that some of the pieces have hundreds of the same piece so finding a store that had all of them can be quite tough.

I don't think either of the figures you've mentioned have been bootlegged by any of the Chinese manufacturers so you should be OK as far as that goes... The raised print thing would be something that may set alarm bells going with regards to being digitally printed copies. I've seen several of the Batman I figures done digitally and sold on eBay as a cheaper alternative to picking them up. I think there's a UK custom minifig producer that's done Mr Freeze and Penguin although the stamps o the arms are something I can't help you with. I can check on my Penguin figure at home and let you know if there's anything similar on him.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
Robianco replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't think the success of the Mighty Micros is dependent on the use of regular legs. They're probably, as with most sets, be aimed at kids. Kids being able to race heroes and villains and as such I don't think kids think too much about the use of short legs... Kids also have plenty of legs lying round and normally switch things round a lot anyway... This is from experience. AFOLs having a cheaper way to pick up minifigs is a side product of the racers... At the moment there only seems to be 3 figs from 12 that replacement legs are tricky for which is a decent ratio... And one of those is pretty common thanks to a BP set. As a stocking filler and cheap buy I think they'll do well. -

Pics please! I'd just like to see how they compare up close to genuine figures. Nice to have some extra Batman heads and cowls if they're good. -
I must admit I'm not seeing the disappointment for children in these... either they're buying them to use as racers and they'll be fine or they'll use them as characters with their other figures and either swap legs out or use imagination and not let it bother them. I don't think kids will care that much... it's adults that care about things like that... and I wouldn't worry about kids finding other regular Lego legs to use... they'll be fine. Joker just had a poly bag and his figure is available for only a couple of pounds now... I'm not thinking the builds are going to be that great for the small price point so the interest as far as AFOL's are concerned are probably around picking the figures up... hence a cheaper way to get Bane, Robin & Cap Cold etc...

Well Bane had plain legs, as does Bats, Robin etc.., just replace them. Do we know if Catwoman is just the version we have or possibly a new 52 version? That version of Catwoman would make the whole wave for me.

Yeah... Janson was definitely in that vid... I think Garven Dreis is the only other recycled helmet from Yavin so there's a slim possibility but if they go with one pilot then it looks like it's Janson.
-
Same here... probably stems from being a kid in the early 80s and having my best mate come over to my house when it snowed and setting up a Kenner AT-AT with Snowspeeder and those little Hoth playsets with the Probe Droid etc... about as close as I'd ever come to reenacting a film scene with toys. I'll take any excuse for new Rebel pilots too. It's another chance to hopefully get Red Leader to add to both the Hoth and Yavin pilots:

Robianco replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It's definitely Wes Janson in the video. The pattern as well as the position of the yellow strip down the centre of the middle portion of the helmet matches: Higgs helmet has much smaller squares on there. I'd also say that the helmet mould for the OT pilots is pretty much perfect as it is... Adding the visor would be a nice addition I suppose but not really necessary... the printing on one side of the face works well enough as most of those pilots are fairly generic. -
I don't think reviews have anything to do with the much longer lasting legacy of the trilogies. If, in 40 years, we're able to look back at the ST with the same feeling that we do with the OT then it's done it's job. I don't think the ST overtaking the OT in acclaim is 'inevitable'... it's possible. But until the whole trilogy is complete we really can't judge them... we certainly can't judge the success of a single part of a trilogy several months before it's release. The ST will be given the main focus on many Lego waves during the release cycle of the films but once they're all released we'll see where they all sit. I think once the nine of them are out we may see a more even split between each trilogy but with regards to where things focus the OT still has a big say in current material with Rebels and Rogue One taking place during that era... and who knows what other spin off films we'll get after Solo.

The Arrow figure is by Christo... Merlin looks like it's based on an OLS figure. -

The last thing we need is exclusive figures when bundling two retail sets together... Especially when one set is over a year old. -
I think he's saying that the emblems and motifs used on your items have been created by Lego... But may have been modified slightly... Just enough to make them different but not enough that they don't fit with existing Lego products. In the same way someone could then set up a shop with a similar name to you... Albeit it slightly different... And sell almost identical products (with slight modifications) and that would be OK. I think he's basically saying that if you think the changes you made to the designs are sufficient to 'make them yours' then you should be ok with someone setting up a store with equally subtle changes to sell as a rival product... And that includes a subtly different store name. I don't think the poster was saying he'd do it, but that it was possible.

I work in design/marketing and as such I suppose part of my job is to persuade people to use a particular service over another and to guide people's opinions. So either an advisor to help sway opinion or a snake oil seller! ;)

I had a custom minifigure I bought from South Africa which had tracking on the parcel... sent promptly... took 5 days to reach UK (Gatwick or Heathrow Customs)... then 24 days later still nothing... I actually called Royal Mai lot see if there was any way of tracking it and the following day it was delivered. I think my calling was a complete coincidence but the guy at Royal Mail said it can be 20 working days from coming in to the country before they can start making a claim or tracing it. I always have to compare it to sending a parcel via DHL a couple of years ago... I took it to a depot here in Liverpool and just booked a general delivery... it was signed for less than 24 hours later in Denver. Always amazes me how something can be delivered that quick yet come things can take over 6 weeks.

Just one of my little quirks... Just knowing they're blades hips annoys me. I really like that SY have studded hips like Lego. Odd, I know! ;) -

I agree... that's my worry with them too. For them to look that iffy on the cgi tells me the artwork won't be perfect either. -

So that's Christo's Green Arrow, SDCC Arsenal, Deathstroke, Black Canary, Malcolm Merlin and a rather funky looking comic Ras Al Ghul. Looks like Decool are sticking with the curved hip torso. If they get the printing right on the Arsenal then you can always switch the hips for genuine Lego versions as Decool legs fit with them... the hood also covers the sharp shoulders. -
Toys R Us in the UK are listing them as £4.99 each and you can reserve and pick up at stores that have stock.
