  1. I saw the film yesterday and really enjoyed it. I will say that I'm not a big reader of DC comics so I wasn't watching it with any view of how the film relates to the original comic story, because of which I was able to just enjoy it as a stand alone film as part of a growing cinematic universe. I think it's very difficult to portray a full story arc from a comic in a single film... Especially with the character limitations they have... I mean it's nowhere as condensed as the Bane story in the Cristopher Nolan Batman film but they have to make some liberties with the story. If anything some of the one liners feel like they were shoehorned in due to the popularity of Loki's pained wheeze after Hulk smashed him in AA... but they still work and I'd be being very fussy to let them detract from the film. Definitely 2hrs 21mins running time too.
  2. The more I look at that Tydirium set the less I regret not picking up the UCS version! I must say that the Final Duel set actually looks pretty good now we're looking at box art.
  3. Well anything that comes in around £1 or less for a figure is OK in my book so I ordered that set for $12.... it still fits in with that price range... it may drop to around $9 at some point but £2 isn't something I'll worry about when ordering around 5 or 6 different sets. Fingers crossed they don't take that long to get here. Don't worry, KCMatze... your vehicle set is included in the order! ;)
  4. I know what you mean... I was looking at it from the view that any DP or Friends sets have a similar shape to those shown on the image... it's a bigger departure to show them that way but then give them minifigs. I'll still keep my fingers crossed.
  5. That promo image does certainly hint towards minidolls though...
  6. Them being listed at all is a relatively big step in getting them. I see it as a good sign... at least the seller is expecting them in stock even if they may not have them in hand. It's enough for me to put an order in anyway! ;)
  7. I'd have normally said that Digger getting the sets is normally a good indication that the warehouses have kicked in and the AE sellers will be getting their stock but the Duolepin situation seems to have thrown a spanner in that. Fingers crossed it's a short term thing while they're sorting their fulfilment and stock distribution... at least if they're a relatively new brand (although possibly a sub brand) but I'd expect the SY sets to start shipping very soon if not already.
  8. In a practical sense I'm not sure how the detailing and accessories will work on the sculpted heads of the minidolls. The rounded head of the mini figure allowed for easy moulding and use of things such as cowls and hoods but as the head of the minimal is sculpted with cheek contours etc I can see there being some issues with how these fit over faces.. hair is one thing but masks etc is another thing entirely.... maybe I should try the Batgirl mask on a minidoll and see how it works. Would Lego really decide to produce figures that were exclusive to a minidoll shape? It's one thing to introduce Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Catwoman, Ivy etc into a theme but It's a big step to give that theme a raft of figures that haven't been introduced into the existing Superheroes line.
  9. I agree that the main thing stopping them doing trench coats as per the customisers is the removal of arms... there's no real way to put those on any other way. I remember as a kid trying to put the plastic capes on Vader, Ben and Leia for the kenner figs and they stretched like hell on the arm sockets. I think Han looks fine with them printed on but being able to give Leia that piece is a bonus. I wonder will what also work with the Luke figure from the Ewok Village (and the Final Duel alternative)? I'm thinking that poncho with a rebel trooper helmet would make a perfect Speederbike Luke.
  10. My last order from Tom arrived in the UK within a week of him sending it. Funnily enough I've got a cart with several orders on AE and most are with Minifigures Wholesale so at least I know he's a reputable seller.
  11. I think its difficult to judge that Ultron helmet too much from this angle. The DLP helmet does look quite nice from what I can see and is a little more accurate but I'd like to see the SY in the flesh to judge it with the print properly. I see Hulk is actually just the old mould recoloured even though Lego gave him different hair. That Nick Fury looks excellent... I'm glad I've got the original but if I didn't then that would certainly be a worth replacement. I'd like to see the movie SY Thor helmet on this version of Thor. The arms on these all look to have normal shoulders too.
  12. It would certainly indicate that there's a very clear link between DLP and SY. Why DLP would be the ones releasing a planned (older) SY release with exactly the same moulding as regular SY without them being the same company (or some kind of offshoot) I'm not sure. The printing on them also looks very good from what I can see... not something you'd expect from a new starter that was just ripping off an existing brand (take Dargo for an example of how some of them struggle with design and print).
  13. For some reason he has white arms there but I'm not sure if that's the only difference. Riddler looks like a new design with a green suit, black shirt and purple tie. Nick Fury looks like a comic version rather than a clone of the existing Lego versions or the Christo with belt detailing and maybe a shoulder holster. Red Skulls seems to be a clone of the official Lego figure.
  14. I can add a set onto an order then... Shipping is usually around £1.30 or so once I've bought the jiffy envelope.
  15. I'd say your best bet is to try and find a seller on eBay that sells individual figures but you'll normally find that the cost they charge for one or two figures may actually be the same as a full wave from an AE seller.
  16. What do you think of the chances that SY will use their new brand for their non-Superheroes waves but keep the old brand for the digs and vehicle sets we know and love? Looks like their display at the Chinese Toy Fair was looking a little more legit and they just won't display the bootleg figs at places like that... It's a possibility anyway. I stand corrected with regards to those Lele sets... Their figures are so iffy I wouldn't want to try their bricks. SY are certainly very busy in Superhero mode at the moment... Not the actions of a company that look like they want out.
  17. That poster also has Dr Strange's torso the wrong way round! The Chinese toy fair images showed some SY Superheroes sets along with the Tribes sets. There are a lot of new SY waves either just being released or about to come out too... If SY have rebranded and are pursuing a more legitimate range of themes then the Duo brand may well just become their sub brand for Superheroes. I'm sure in a couple of months we'll have a clearer picture of how SY, Duo, Decool, KSZ etc are focusing their ranges. I also really like the look of that camo military range... Really nice set of figures!
  18. Yeah... Talk of the NYCC got me thinking again about Decool and SY and the fact that Decool really were the driver behind us getting those figs affordably. SY have, over time, given upgraded versions but the Decool double sided heads have been invaluable... And from what I've seen the DLP figures have single sided heads too... Which is a shame. On a side note... Are there any other members that don't use AE that would like anything added to an order that I'll be making on Monday. I know KCMatze wants the set with SDCC Bats but if there are any others people want something then pm me. Postage will be charged from the UK... Sorry but I can't offer the same free shipping that the AE sellers do! ;)
  19. Same as above... It also helps if you can mask off the areas you want to keep with tape... I find it much easier that way!
  20. Yeah... I'm really happy with the figures I'm buying the sets for... Jean, Doom 2099, DOFP Magneto and the Thor Helmet. Strange is a nice alternative to MRM's figure but I'll be using a Nizam head and brasso'ing the bottom part of the goatee.
  21. Yeah...as much as I look forward to SY releases over all others some of my customs rely on Decool parts such as the SDCC heads. Here's hoping they're just laying low... Or that DLP take over from them. To be honest I don't think it's just the bootleggers in fear of C&D orders!
  22. Good call! From a little Google search that's exactly what it seems to be.
  23. Coincidence that Decool stop producing Super Heroes and we get a new brand with a 'D' logo? If one of them had to go I'd rather it was Decool. I'm not sure they've ever made a figure that wasn't directly copied from someone else and they've been second best for a long time... To me at least. Does anyone know where that black/silver Doctor Doom comes from? If it had more white I'd have guessed at a Future Foundation variant.
