  1. I've just had my last items arrive from AE and they're the SY sets of the new Avengers and the set with Batzarro etc. I must say that I'm about as impressed with the quality of the Avengers set as I have been about any bootleg set. If it wasn't for Black Widow's hairpiece I'd say they were almost perfect. The printing on all of them is incredibly accurate and now that I've used the SY legs and head with the DLP torso of Nick Fury I definitely have to day that the bootleg looks as good if not better than the original as the print lines up perfectly from the coat and zipper print. Aside from the Wonder Woman issue missing silver print I think the other set is also really good. Batzarro is excellent and with the addition of the Decool double sided head would be close to identical to my original. Collector is good although the Decool hairpiece is better. Thor's helmet is great and is already sitting on the genuine Lego figure's head... although I'm not sure where the design of the Thor that comes in this set is from. It's the worst print wise also with the silver just very slightly off. Taskmaster looks decent but the original isn't very inspiring anyway and Martian Manhunter also looks very good although his facial print is a touch heavy. Let's see what they can come up with next! Looking forward to the DLP Iron Man wave also.
  2. They'll probably have them on display as you can just set up a VIP account at the till when you buy it if you want it. The only thing stopping you would be a lack of stock and I can't see that happening.
  3. No problem... yeah.. it's very similar in shape to the Flash mask and they've produced it in both the blue variants of Cap's uniform so far. I can imagine the Lego designer who put it together also gets frustrated when the final thing doesn't look like concept art. We know that some of the designers read and are part of this forum so you can imagine the frustration of knowing people will moan about the inaccuracies of your design when you've probably done a pretty good job based on what you were given. The Black Widow concept art for the first film showed that the figure was actually pretty good when compared to it.
  4. That's a good sign... if they're on Taobao and are that readily available it shouldn't be long before the AE sellers get them and we should have a review from Digger around the same time.
  5. I was answering the poster who asked specifically for the metal helmet rather than the face mask. The odd thing is the face mask has actually been produced around a year ago by the chinese bootleg market. I'm not overly keen on that one as I think the printed heads look better but seeing as Lego have never produced one it's worth looking at it you want to make a custom.
  6. I think I only have one custom printed figure and that's Yanne Isard by Christo... I'm still waiting for him to print a few more Thrawn figures before buying one. I made a custom Starkiller using an original torso and updated pieces as the old figure looked like it was lacking a little and I've also made a purist Mara Jade... as well as updating the Rebel pilots with the new uniforms and heads etc... I like to keep my rebel fleet up to date. Those Dargo figures are slightly better than I thought they'd be... and yet still nowhere near good enough to purchase. One thing I'm actually a little annoyed about... The DLP Nick Fury from the Hellicarrier has light bley legs instead of dark bley but they match the print perfectly on my original figure's torso... whereas the original leg print doesn't! I think I'll be keeping the DLP torso and adding them to the dark bley legs on the SY figure (they've printed the torso on dark bley instead of black)... add the trench coat and the SY head and that figure will probably look better than the original! Have they appeared on AE yet?
  7. Well I think we all get pretty excited with upcoming releases... If SY started to expand their range into new SW figures I think I'd flip! I could just see them doing a Cantina range with Luke, Ben and Han as clones of existing figures then having Dr Evazan, Ponda Baba and Wuher as customs. Can you imagine the SW part of the forum if they produced those?!
  8. They're just from the source material: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Azure_Angel I take it that's why it's a custom Jedi starfighter rather than a stock one.
  9. Yeah... I buy the sets I like and BL the rest of the figures. I've also B&P'd some figs where possible. I don't have any figs in my collection that aren't genuine if a genuine one is available (except for those pesky SDCC but we're all the same with those)... but I still buy a lot of Lego sets. I'm still not impressed by the bootleggers brick quality though. The canon builds from the Magneto, Black Bolt etc sets are horrible builds and I just don't like how the bricks connect... They're still way off in my opinion. That said... There's a couple of interesting pieces in the Dr Doom canon. Firstly a light bley plate for a 2x2 turntable which I've found are quite hard to come by... And secondly (and quite the biggy IMHO) is the light bley levers that are commonly black in a variety of base colours. If anyone has ever looked into BLing a 10179 Falcon you'll find that these are £1.25 each at the cheapest... And you get 3 in the set. Stick them into official light bley 1x1 bases and they're perfect. Shame we only get three but if they make it into other sets they're definitely worth looking out for... Especially as I'm considering the 10179 build. The Decool figs might come in handy for some double sided heads but it's a shame there's nothing unique in there or even rare... Except for Bizarro... So that head might be useful to go with an SY torso. The Winter Soldier will be good for Robin or Nightwing customs and it looks like they've moulded Widow's hair... So the new SY fig would be perfect with that. I just hope they're better quality than the last wave with Bane and The Collector as I thought they were quite poor.
  10. I'd say this thread was the fiasco!
  11. I'd say that the bootleg figures has actually got me buying custom figures more frequently... Or at least made more of a collector out of me. I've even picked up pad printed customs to replace bootleg figures such as the FF and some Spidey figs. My SY sets with Jean Grey etc arrived yesterday and I'm really happy with the quality... But there's also an example of why I go for pad printed customs as the Black Bolt is good... But compared next to the NACM with its silver ink and arm printing it's clearly inferior (albeit much cheaper). The SY 2011 SDCC Bats is absolutely perfect though... I see no reason to pay £150 for a genuine one which would look identical. There are some great figures being produced by bootleggers that I wouldn't want to have missed. I still have a slight smile when I hear people pleading for certain figures on the SH threads when there are perfect customs of those figures available... I just hope SY look at Spiderwoman soon!
  12. How many on this thread just collect figures via the bootleggers and are then happy to give the genuine Lego sets a miss? I'm just interested how many, if any, just get these sets? I know there are people who just keep those that aren't released by Lego and maybe some of the harder to get figures or even those that are just in expensive sets. Just interested that's all... Those DLP Iron Man figs look really good... It'll be nice to expand the Hall of Armour with at least one new suit and maybe some upgrades.
  13. I'm still not sure. I have the official figs anyway but those blurred shots can hide a multitude of sins. Why is it that everyone that takes pics of them does so with an early Nokia phone?!
  14. Brickforge did a set called Super Soldier which had the helmet along with the shield and a couple of other accessories.
  15. I'm with Jodawill. I think the Lego minifigure is basically perfect in it's design and it's simplicity. I think on figures of this scale the articulation can take away from the aesthetic. That's not to say mini action figures... which is more of what I think the articulation makes them... don't have a place... I just prefer Lego minifigures as they are. If I want that kind of articulation then I'd start to look at 3 3/4" and 6" action figures. I also don't think there's less attention to detail. I wouldn't want Lego to start adding the kind of detail I have from the Star Wars Black Series figures I have... or even trying to... it's just a different design philosophy.
  16. Might be the first time I actually order something in packaging. Those little heads are great! Thanks for the heads up on finding them!
  17. Almost every MOC having a Cuusoo / Lego Ideas link. Oh... and that build you've submitted of an already existing Lego item may be pretty but it's lazy. It's lazy because it's not a particularly imaginative idea if Lego have already made one albeit at a different scale. That's why it's called Ideas. ...and stop whining about the 10,000 piece submission not being passed. It was never going to pass. Look at the Cuusoo / Ideas business model before wondering why a set that would cost £500-£1000 isn't approved on a theme that releases sets that are £30-£50. (although there have been a couple of sets that have also heralded surprisingly similar large sets in a theme from long ago in a galaxy far away so they're not totally without merit)
  18. Needs more detail. Ha! Only kidding... wow... where to start?! It's one things to have that rendition of the X-Wing carded out of stone on the wall but the details throughout are great. There's loads of life in the MOC... from the workers on the wall area to those on the gantry and the pilot viewing his fighter being assembled. I didn't even notice the small city diorama with the Falcon taking off over the Star Wars logo mosaic. Excellent work!
  19. I've got this one of him with the white Boba Fett Prototype figure His back is pretty much the same as most Imperial Officers with the belt print along with some fabric lines.
  20. I've managed to get the parts for that and Slave 1 Celebration for around £13. I'm just adding the Landspeeder and Ghost to see what they come out as. I'm a sucker for those sets... especially after building the 66 Batmobile.
  21. Yeah... I think it looks quite nice although the build itself may not be that stable. It just looks good though. ;)
  22. I haven't seen them although I've looked in the last few days... sometimes these things are listed in an odd way. On a side note... I was going to order the SY Rocket's Warbird SDCC but looked at how much it would be for original Lego parts... it came out at £9.30 for all the parts from one seller in the UK... glad I had the polybag Rocket too. I think I might try and make the other Chibi SW vehicles now... Land speeder, Slave 1 and The Ghost.
  23. That's always annoying! I see Digger has reviewed the Falcon Commandos set... they looks really good for a military set. I think I'd have to change the heads again but the print on the torsos and legs looks great along with the camo weapons and packs.
  24. My worry would be that War Machine doesn't need a vehicle so there's more of a chance of him being an SDCC exclusive fig which WOULDN'T get released in a polybag. Electro wasn't an SDCC figure at all but just a randomly released poly which gave it rarity at first. I must admit the chibi vehicles with non-exclusive figures work well for me... I was able to build the Batmobile and use the Bats & Robin from the Juniors set to complete it... the Warbird is next. I'd rather they created more of those with exclusive Con packaging. The SW builds have always been smaller than the SH vehicles which probably did act as a forerunner to creating a full microfighters line. They'd have to create something much smaller to get them working as a SH Microfighters series though... there's a deceptively large amount of parts in the Batmobile and Warbird.
