  1. The colouration of the sets definitely look like Magneto (red and purple) and Dr Doom (green and grey/silver) but Magneto looks more like a darker colour more akin to the X-Men movies which might be a nice option. At least they're interesting alternatives if not completely unique (except for Jean). It looks like SY are making these four vehicle sets definitely something to look out for. I'm now glad I decided against picking up any cheap sets for the sake of it. Some of the bootlegs listed earlier (such as the Ghostbusters) look pretty poor... definitely not something to rival SY. And I'm also glad that they didn't go after anymore of the NACM range... on another note NACM got back to me about the printing so it's sounds like they're still interested in custom print. Hopefully that won't mean them disappearing from the scene altogether... even if they do have some kind of sabbatical.
  2. Excellent retrospective! I picked up 8097 a few years ago as a used complete model and I'm so glad I did... I thought it was a fantastic representation of a very difficult shape seeing as there's very few straight lines on her! 75060 was a day one purchase for me and I agree that the Boba Fett minifigure is absolutely superb... with regards to the jetpack I'd actually recommend the Arealight Boba Backpack as it has the colouration and shape spot on! If I was a nostalgic Lego fan then I might even look to pick up the older sets after seeing them together like this but 6209 is actually very similar in shape and the earlier model really shows it's age... but that's just my opinion.... 7144 was actually only $20 so we're really paying for these bigger and better builds!
  3. Greetings Aussie EBers. I'm flying out to Perth tomorrow for a couple of weeks before heading over to Brisbane for a couple of weeks after that. While my wife isn't really going to allow me to go Lego shopping for the entire time I'm there I wondered if there were any particular places to hit in either city centre that might offer some of these sales? They actually sound better than any of the UK deals we currently have. Cheers for any advice or help! ;)
  4. By the sound of it Kellogs cereals still have the 2 for 1 vouchers on the boxes. It'll save best part of £50 for entry!
  5. I've just had confirmation that my SY210 set has been sent so fingers crossed the tracking starts to work!
  6. I think you should be fine! ;) Especially as a mod commented straight after and you're still here! There are people who are older than you on here that act like they're in nursery at times!
  7. Yeah... I know. Ironically I also know that Mike and other members on there who had previously been very anti bootleg actually bought the Thing bigfig. If the right product is there then people will buy it.
  8. I think the Hawkeye may have been used in a render by Mnap73 on Flickr but not produced as a figure. Not sure about the Galactus. Ironically... it's actually this render they used: Notice what's been added as a watermark!
  9. On a site that actually states a minimum age as 18 I've be wary of stating this too much! ;)
  10. They're not on the Pick A Brick section... I'm in the UK... I just checked by putting my location as the US and they do show as out of stock but they're not to UK customers. Whoops! :)
  11. Well I know for a fact that DC have started to warn customisers off releasing figures and Marvel have started to become visible to them also. A very famous customiser pulled their most famous figures from general sale due to a word from the IP owners. I'm not saying it's the total reason for someone to get out of the game but it could be a persuading factor. I know someone who once had a visit from EMI's lawyers at his door for a 'chat' about the Beatles vinyl rips he was selling... told him that even Paul McCartney owned some of them but they couldn't have him selling them while they were about to release the remasters in 2009 so asked him nicely to stop for at least a year or two. Which he did. For a year to two until he just suddenly stopped again. Whether that was another visit from EMI or not I'm not sure but it happens. The digital custom producers put out far more product than any of the pad printing customisers so I'd have thought they'd be the first people being closed down... but they still seem to be going strong. Christo still sells every figure he puts on eBay and has regular business through his site as well as to resellers... Phoenix sell out of their pre-sale figures very quickly and are on second print runs of their figures... Muddy River are looking at their next figures... MH80 regularly sell... Fig nation are starting to expand their Batman pad printed range... Citizen Brick sell very well on their military and TV range... I'm sure these people sell more than one or two figures a year. I've even looked at having some designs printed up myself but the initial costs especially in the UK are prohibitive and as such I'm actually waiting on NACM to get back to me on a quote for the printing of a figure that I requested last week. Unfortunately any figure design that will be well received is probably copyrighted by Lego through their game designs or to a comic company... either way a customiser is infringing that copyright. You only have to look at how well received the designs for Deathstroke have been. By the way... on the luxury watch subject mentioned before... I own a Swiss watch made famous by a certain British secret agent... and no... I wouldn't buy a fake version... but I've also shown that I'd rather own a pad printed figure on genuine Lego parts over a Chinese bootleg too.
  12. I actually think the western market for these bootlegs is very small compared to the original Asian market. The clamp down of the figures on eBay sellers is evident although new sellers pop up all the time. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and is free to state it... But I'll stand by my opinion that the custom market would still support premium figures... The presale of Phoenix figures sell out quickly and there is even a Christo figure at over $250 on eBay currently. Pad printed customs aren't cheap but they're worth it. I just think that DC and Marvel have started to take steps to lean on people and seeing as NACM have figures that are soon to feature in Marvel movies it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't close to being asked to remove them.
  13. Same here. I have one of each of their figures as well as the printed black Spiderman head and the Ghostbusters arms. If that was an attempt to make some people feel guilty then I really don't see the point. One or two people saying they were happy about Blackbolt being released?... I bet there's quite a few people here that don't even know he's been done by a customiser already and it's the people on this thread that have then mentioned that it's a rip of the NACM figure. I own around 70 Pad printed custom minifigures from the people mentioned by Goodfella above. The community that buys these premium customs will always be there regardless of the release of cheap bootlegs. I think most people here use bootlegs as a way of filling the gaps in their collection although some may be perfectly happy to have bootlegs in their collection rather than even official Lego. By the way... I never use resellers. I buy direct from the customisers. Why give the reseller a profit? Even if they sell them at the same price as the customiser why should I not just give that money to the people who make them? I think NACM stopping might have more to do with a cease and desist order from Marvel or DC as I know another customiser has had someone whisper a quiet word in his ear. Whether people like it or not the designs used by NACM and a lot of other customisers are owned by Lego and Marvel / DC. Even customisers who create completely unique designs are still infringing the intellectual property and likeness of a copyrighted character. Possibly something to do with the release of a certain masked mercenary that was planned for very soon? Let's see if that gets a release and if not then I think we can assume they were threatened with legal action. Let's not start taking any kind of moral high ground here. If Marvel or DC start getting strong with people then the bootleg companies may actually end up as the only way to get these figures anyway... I certainly hope not but the way things have happened recently I wouldn't be too surprised.
  14. You can actually buy Space Batman (with wings), Green Lantern, Sinestro, Cyborg, Hawkman (with wings), Green Arrow (No hood piece) and Scuba Robin. There are also parts such as Batman's new cowl, Wonder Woman's headpiece, Supergirl's legs, Brainiac's head, Captain Cold's head and his hood and various other parts to the DC wave including all but the head of the banana delivery driver. No bigfig parts though. The parts that are listed as out of stock were never actually in stock from the site. Funnily enough there were a lot of the recent SW wave also available. They didn't make the same mistake with the Marvel wave... except for Hulk's hands.
  15. I think they've already released that version of the Riddler in the sets released around the time of that wave from Lego. I think it's also interesting that they've used their game design Flash rather than the clone of the official Lego version.
  16. SY's Star Wars stuff hasn't been that great from what I've seen... Not bad... but certainly not up to the level of their Super Heroes stuff.... in fact some of them have been a bit dodgy and heavy with their print as well as some human face designs being a little iffy. The Revan figure in the Grievous Bike set looked really good though from what I could see. Maybe with them reproducing armour etc on the recent sets it's just down to the helmet moulds as to whether they'll be any good. As long as they're better than the cloned Wolverine from the X-Jet then they should be OK ;) I agree though... if they put out a Stormtrooper set of good quality I could see people picking up a lot of those. I've got around 4 of the new OT versions with the leg printing and the calendar this year will have one so I'll have a couple more by then...I also have around 4 of the older versions without the leg printing and as I don't really army build then I wouldn't need them... but they'd be tempting nonetheless. Really interested to see what the SY208 set comprises of now we've seen BlackBolt. I have the NACM and I think the SY version will be missing the arm printing. Seeing as how SY210 is the set with the SDCC Batman I wonder if there's a SY209 set that we've yet to see anything of?
  17. I've just added them to my cart... I'm not buying them but it still adds them OK.
  18. I've been on the fence for a while too... while a trip down south for work can happen regularly making the trip to head to Windsor is something I've held off doing. I'm actually closer to booking a trip to Harry Potter's Wizarding World!
  19. The design and print looks pretty accurate to the SDCC figure. All of the colours look very saturated on that whole photo so it may not very quite as vibrant... which wouldn't be a bad thing!
  20. Well they've recently copied their Daredevil so there's a chance they might. I don't think SY have done their Bullseye either. Interesting that we've seen a 'leaked' box image rather than the regular cgi images. There'll definitely be 3 more for this wave though... Maybe a Spiderwoman to complete the SDCC figures?
  21. You could probably get away with three colours on two sides of the torso. Metallic bronze, metallic silver and grey. Metallic inks don't normally require a base coat as they're very opaque and as the other colour is a grey then a white base coat shouldn't be required.
  22. I think the Harleen Quinzel head would work for that!
  23. Lego already make exclusive releases of bootlegs... they're called SDCC figures ;) And to think.... I was seriously considering finding a pad printer to do a 2011 SDCC Bats for me... I've got the artwork ready and everything... £9 for 4 sets with that one included seems like a better option.
  24. Well the listing is for all 4 of them... and to be honest the £9 price for all of them would be worth it just for the 2011 SDCC Batman if it's a good print.
  25. Just the one for now but once I know it's shipped I very well may order another one! If so then I'll let you know! ;) Dargo have also done a Batman set which has a Batman Beyond design but the muscle definition looks like it's been printed in a heavy white rather than a dark grey which would have been better.
