  1. And with that, SY have rendered all other AOU clone sets as useless. If they've used the last sets as testers and printed double sided heads then they just need arm printing on Maria Hill and these would be great. If they do have SHIELD logos on the arm and they fit regular Lego figs then it'd be worth picking up multiples to go with the SHIELD agent in the Carnage set. After this I can see them moving on to DC then maybe a couple of waves of mostly new figures.
  2. It's not against the rules at all... In fact there's several reviews and threads about other manufacturers... They just have to live in this part of the forum. Lego itself is a clone brand of a previous product... Just one that got big enough to take major market share to the point of their brand name becoming a common term for the product as a whole. MB have had some pretty iffy QC as well as poor plastic and design but they seem to be getting better... I think once other brick products gain more of their own identity and licenses the better they can get. I just personally prefer the design of the Lego minifig and the overall design ethic they use.
  3. Can any of the Chinese speakers amongst us see if Taobao can shed any light on set numbers? 213 would make sense as it's the next available number in SY's vehicle range.
  4. They could always make Phasma the May 4th promo next year if they have an issue with a chrome fig in a regular set.
  5. I think with regards to pricing the dollar price can be a little misleading... especially for those that live outside of the US and Canada. I remember being confused as hell the first time I bought from a store in Canada and the item was more than was shown on the shelf. The sales tax for a particular area needs to be added to those costs... I think in California it's around 8% as is New York and in Ontario it's around 13%. This needs to be added onto the cost of the item. Yes it probably still works out cheaper than the UK but the margin isn't as much. I'm thinking that any rumoured UCS set would be OT based rather than ST based too... also down to things such as the figures included in the calendar as some kind of indicator. Slave One is probably the second set from last year as has been said, but was delayed until 1st Jan for release so it's very feasible that we'll get another one this year... or at least we'll only be waiting until 1st Jan 2016 for it.
  6. Here's the reverse Flash with plain black legs and the Superman head. I think it looks much better this way. The original design for this figure is by a Flickr User called HighOnBricks and can be found here:
  7. My Flash set arrived today along with the first Decool wave with Brainiac etc. I think I'll be keeping three of the Flash figures but selling the rest of them on. The Decool wave will all go into the same auction lot as the Flash figures although Superman's head was useful as it was printed slightly higher than the regular one so the red eyes worked great for replacing Reverse Flash's head on the figure and showing through the eye holes. I think my daughter will want the Supergirl though. Quality on them really isn't that bad and I must say that the head print on Brainiac is actually very striking.
  8. Great idea for a contest! Vader v Avengers sounds great!
  9. They're very good. As someone else said, when you've added the tactical belt the legs can be a little loose in the attachment to the torso. It's not too bad but it's not as snug as with official Lego.
  10. Picked up the Tydirium and the Final Duel from the Lego Store in Liverpool. I've held of getting them from Smyths for over a week just to get them but the poster giveaway isn't until the 8th June. I'll have to get a Keychain or something.
  11. Those and the Thrillkiller Bats for me!
  12. Ha... I don't think they care. They're all seeing AOU as a way of making some money so SY, DLP, Decool, Dargo, JLB, Lele and all the others will be knocking out those figures for a while. After getting the S brand (is it Sheng Bao?) Falcon Commandos I'm interested to see the quality of the other items we saw the images from at the Chinese Toy Fair. If the quality is the same then the 'Tribes' sets could be pretty good... not sure of what their brick quality will be like but at least the print should be great.
  13. First off... There's been some real commitment to the Lego cause there... and a lot of money invested... I just hope you've got some enjoyment from it over the years. It's a huge collection so finding someone who will buy everything might be more difficult... it may also mean getting less for each item when sold as a whole. It may seem like a daunting task but I'd separate all the larger sets out and get them as complete as you can with boxes and instructions ready to sell individually then if there's a pile of stuff at the end of that you may want to create an 'assortment' lot for sale. I'd definitely separate things out to make the most of it and achieve more funds for your trip.
  14. As much as that SY set is poor I actually think it's worth the £4 or so simply for the Batman torso, as I've seen an official DC image of him with that design, another Thor helmet to spray chrome and the legs of Thor and Cap. Everything else will go in a spares box for selling in a combined eBay auction. I just sold my last box of 60 spares for £40.
  15. The SDCC Spidey looks pretty good there... That and the head on the grey and black variant. The older SY torso print might be slightly better but overall they don't look bad. That red Carnage type fig is truly awful though. It's like someone's 4yr old designed it.
  16. Smyths Toys in Liverpool had everything yesterday when I popped in... the Star Wars Wave, DC Sets, Carnage set... I didn't look for the Sandman/Rhino set though so not sure if that was there. Ant-Man set definitely wasn't as someone mentioned earlier.
  17. I saw a Batman illustration recently where he had just a yellow bat symbol on his chest so that version may actually be of some use although the head and cowl look a little iffy. The only reason to pick up this set seems to be the printed legs for Cap, which look like they could match the AOU version, as well as the helmet and printed legs for Thor. I must admit... having seen the Superman, Iron Man, Wolverine and Spiderman images they look closer to Dargo and Lele quality than they do SY. Possibly the worst wave SY have done since they moved over from the inverted toe styled legs.
  18. My DLP Iron Man wave arrived today also and I'm very happy with them... Some excellent print even if a couple of the designs were very simple. Bones is incredible. If you can post pics of the Spidey wave that would be great.
  19. If SY do the TMNT set I'd go for that... Not sure which companies offer the Frozen set. There was a store that shipped really quickly so I'll post a link when I get home to that store.
  20. The price quoted is for the set of 6 figures. Hopefully the figures you receive are of decent quality... there are a few companies that have pretty poor quality control. I always go for the free shipping option and it can take up to around a month for items to get here... normally in the 2-3 week period to the UK from China. The only time i've ever used FedEx was for a Christmas gift of some Frozen dresses and the shipping was fast... but only really worth it as we were let down for some dresses here in the UK and Christmas was very close. I have to say the quality of the dresses we received were excellent.
  21. I think it's one thing to create different moulds for things such as bending short legs, which are already available from third party companies, or to create a dress mould with some level of flexibility but the minifigure in general is a classic piece of design that doesn't need to change. In 37 years it hasn't changed... Not due to a reluctance to change but because they got it right 37 years ago. In a world of brick construction, even with a huge range of parts that is ever growing, we won't get perfect real world proportions but we don't need them because the proportions we have between minifigure and brick work already... It's part of their appeal. We certainly don't need to differentiate different ages of children between the short legs and regular sized ones. Shoulder joints that work like the skeleton body but have the right amount of strength and friction for posing would be too large to keep the fig size the same and not look silly... If we're looking at that kind of modification were moving away from a minifig and into the Technic figure.
  22. I picked up the Carnage SHIELD Attack set earlier today and that SHIELD trooper has the perfect torso for a classic Nick Fury complete with SHIELD logo. In other news my S Brand Falcon Commando set in the little head packaging arrived today and they're absolutely superb. I've switched out the heads already for official ones but the printing is as good as any customiser I've seen for that amount of detail... across legs, arms, torsos, accessories.. just fantastic. Really makes the SuperHeroes stuff that Decool are doing (and recent speed related DC SY sets) look very poor in comparison. Looking forward to what S Brand bring out next.
  23. That Nick Fury actually looks like it would make a better Falcon movie version.
  24. I'm just going to sit over here on my own in a grump because I don't like them... you all enjoy! ;) I do like the helmets for the same reason Jango does though...
  25. Ha!... Probably a little! ;) My frustration is just that the Black Flash figure is an almost perfect copy of a figure that sells for over £50 (if the head had just been printed on a grey head rather than light flesh). The red Flash figure is a good figure but almost no different from the figure released a year ago. The flame version of the Black Flash is a copy of the SGP figure but with a helmet included. White Flash is a pretty bad design... I mean just look at the muscle design and it's a poorly drawn version of the Lego design. They've also copied what looks like Fig Factory figures for Flash and Blue Lantern Flash and the SGP reverse flash instead of Christo's design (another figure that sells or over £50). It just could have been so much better for not much more work... just look at the head designs without their helmets!
