  1. I've had a card from the post office this morning which tells me I've had a shedload of stuff arrive including the Avengers waves, the SY experiment wave (which I've only ordered for the unique Batman torso), the new 4 Hulk figures and the vehicle wave with Riddler and Nick Fury. Perfect timing for me getting out of Marvel! ;) I think I might keep most of these though... seeing as they cost tuppence!
  2. This set has been reviewed by another member who commented on some of the elements in particular and the fact that Lego don't make them in that particular colour. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=109166&hl=%2Bgeneral+%2Bgrievous
  3. I'm not sure if there's a particular reason you're looking to buy the item locally but there are several sellers on Bricklink that are selling complete sets with all the contents guaranteed for around $900 less. There's also a seller who has a set that is described exactly as the one you're talking about for $1600. Even DHL shipping shouldn't be more than $100 which is still a $500 saving?
  4. I think the best place for discussing figures such as the Iron Man wave is here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=94997 It's about as comprehensive and up-to-date as you can get with regards to custom/clone/bootleg figures and at 172 pages it's a bit of a read it you're starting from scratch! ;)
  5. I'm really liking how things are tweaked slightly from the OT but different enough to feel like there has been at least a little bit of an evolution of their design. There's definitely a much more organic feeling to things with the ST... I hope this translates well into Lego sets... As well as being a cohesive and enjoyable trio of films.
  6. Enlighten actually aren't a copy brand and do their own stuff... I think you'll mean Sheng Yuan, Decool, Lele, Bela etc as the copy brands that put out copies of Super Heroes, Chima etc. I find it hard to distinguish bootleg and official Hero Factory etc stuff as I think it all looks a bit cheap and nasty to be honest
  7. It depends... are you talking about full sets with bricks etc or just figures? I think you first have to differentiate between a 'clone' brand, i.e. someone that makes a product using a brick system similar to Lego and a company that makes a bootleg or copy of an official Lego set. Isn't Lego actually based from someone else's bricks? With regards to figures some of them are of equal quality to Lego. Some of them even have more accurate print than their Lego counterpart so as far as minifigures there are companies that produce them on par with their official counterpart. With regards to bricks I think they're still a little way off. Depending on which company you get the bricks feel a little like some of the older Megabloks used to... very sharp edges with no give making the clutch element a little more difficult. The plastic isn't too far away with some of them and I know people who have build a 7888 Tumbler for around £9 that they say was excellent quality. Personally I totally prefer to build with official Lego... there is a difference in quality that is visible by both sight and touch but bootlegs aren't always the horror story people make out. Morally they're completely questionable... from a standpoint of copying another try manufacturers product as well as the use of copyrighted material without the use of a license but if you do end up building something by a clone manufacturer your eyes won't bleed, your fingers won't burn and your lungs won't explode from toxins like some people would like you to think.
  8. A few reasons to be honest. Firstly there's a bit of a space issue but that's not the primary reason. I can have a little bit of an addictive nature to collecting... always have... and I think the SH line has been another one of those things... but I only really read DC.. well... Batman to be honest. I've read Batman for years along with Mike Mignola's Hellboy Universe (2000ad and Judge Dredd was my things when I was a kid). For that reason my Marvel collection is increasing all over the place but more out of habit than any particular desire for a character or any feeling of familiarity with a character or what's happened to them on film or in print. It's just one of those things that I've looked at it and I don't feel that I'm buying them for the right reason. I'll be sticking with DC and OT era Star Wars so I'm not getting out of Lego or minifig collecting... I'm just going to be buying the things that actually mean something to me. I'll be keeping my HP sets as I loved reading the books and my daughter is getting into the films so we'll have that in common but I'll be selling all my LOTR and Hobbit stuff also. I've got a few sets that are still sealed and then there's a lot of other sets that I can simply sell on and move the minifigures separately... as well as things such as the Ent from Orthanc that's on my shelf here. I think I'd be able to show all the items that I'll be selling... a few are already claimed. I don't think I can list bootleg stuff over in the sale forum anyway so I can show it here and give people the option to PM me. All the SY figures have had regular arms added and a few things tweaked to bring them more in line with official figs where possible.
  9. I'm in for the long haul, fella! Just because I'm stopping with Marvel collecting doesn't mean I'm not interested in what they're doing. Besides... Here's hoping that they keep things moving with DC anyway. My SDCC figures are bootlegs and they look perfect so you don't get rid of me that easily. I've replied to PM and FM by the way...
  10. I think having Kasdan onboard is a big plus too. I've always thought Josh Hartnett would make a good Solo but who knows what kind of time period they'll focus on.
  11. This thread feels like a slightly odd place in the full landscape of the forum to me. It feels like it's left to it's own accord and self moderates thus leaving no need for much interaction outside of the people who comment in here... and because of the subject matter a lot of people don't bother with it. Every so often someone will pop in to tell everyone that bootlegs are evil and we shouldn't consider them but, as you've said, there is value in the figures that aren't being done by TLG... to be honest the Nick Fury Helicarrier bootleg figure was actually better quality than the official TLG version as all the print lined up perfectly! I'm actually about to sell all my Marvel figures including around 50 pad printed customs, promo figures, almost all of the official Lego Marvel SH figures and MANY bootlegs including around 30 Iron Man armours... but I'll actually end up with a full set of AOU bootleg figures from SY that I'll probably keep just because they cost so little and they look almost indistinguishable from the official figures. Time to concentrate on DC and OT Star Wars!
  12. I think the fact the Rebel Trooper is the calendar version is a good sign. Updated Leia, new Rebel Officer, new K3PO, doors, control room, ion canon, canon towers and Wampa cave... Whether that includes an updated Luke and Han I'm not sure... I couldn't tell if they were new at all.
  13. I thought that... hence me checking just in case it was the same store as my order was from. Unfortunately it's not but the store I ordered from has the same shipping rating and quite a few reviews have mentioned the fast shipping. Fingers crossed it's not too long a wait.
  14. Which seller did you use?
  15. Exactly... You can buy the three of them individually at $2.50 each so $7.50 for the set of three but if you buy them together it's $9. Doesn't make sense! The figure will be out of scale as Igor is a single manned suit so maybe it would be just bigger than regular suits but I'm glad it's in blue as that's the suit colour... a red option would be interesting though.
  16. http://m.aliexpress.com/item/32389438556.html I've ordered around 8 different sets from them and all but this and the new SY Spidey set have been sent already and have working tracking numbers.
  17. I ordered mine from another seller for the same price... I might have been mistaken but I'm sure the individual prices were lower than if you bought the set of three!!
  18. Thanks for posting the Spiderman images. From what I can see the DLP is actually closer to the SDCC design. The line weight of the webbing is a little heavy but the shape of the spider on the front and back are closer to the official version and the Decool has plain curved lines for the web pattern in the red area at the top of the torso whereas the DLP has the correct web scalloped lines. I'll use the Decool head on it but I think mixing the two actually gives us a 95% copy of the original once you switch the arms out for regular Lego versions.
  19. Don't forget the sales tax that you'd have to add on for the US purchases anyway. If you're looking to pick up sets for less than retail then Amazon, as stated, is a good place to look. John Lewis tend to price match Amazon though so they have discounts quite quickly on set included many of the recent SW sets, although not the very recent wave such as Tydirium etc (Cantina for £51 etc) Supermarkets such as ASDA and Tesco also tend to have items on sale and Microfighters are something that you can often pick up cheaply there.
  20. Pellaeon really benefits from the J Jonah Jameson head as the light grey moustache is perfect for him.
  21. They don't look too bad at all... at least in the torso and skirt print. I just ordered the SY Spidey set as I want the Silk and Ghost Spider figures although I have Christo and PCB versions of the others.. interested to see how close SY have got to the PCB Spidey. Did anyone pick up the DLP Spidey set? I seem to remember someone getting them but can't remember who and whether any good pics were posted? If anyone has them can they post a couple of good resolution shots of the SDCC Spidey figure? Is it worth picking up for that fig? I think I only have the Decool version but I'd prefer a DLP or SY. If anyone has the SDCC fig from SY or DLP let me know and post some pics. I must admit I lost track from the old days when SY had pointed shoulders and inverted toes and Decool were slightly better to how they are now.
  22. Citizen Brick items are fantastically well printed but if the op thought Lone Ranger sets seemed expensive then CB items may be well out of range. I fell very deeply into the CB trap with German WWII figures! ;)
  23. It probably won't. They're already selling copies of Lego sets without a great deal of fear... the fact the mini figure itself is now protected might not make a great deal of difference to them. Places like eBay might start to clamp down even further on counterfeit products being listed on the site although I think most bootlegs are now clearly marked as such whereas in the past some dodgy sellers didn't make things that clear.
  24. That Fury figure looks like someone decided to make Falcon but then couldn't be bothered with the wings so just gave it black arms instead and made it Nick Fury instead. I think mine will definitely be given reddish brown arms and a different head.... with some kind of wing assembly!
  25. I'm expecting them, for the most part, to be pretty poor but on something as simple as Moon Knight's torso and head which is mostly single colour print on white I'm hopeful there's something to work with. The last AOU range looked much better than previous although still rubbish compared to SY but if they can improve a little on those then we may get a figure or two out of them.
