This question is asked on every hobby oriented forum that I've ever participated in. The second most asked question is 'what happens to my (fill in the blank with a type of collectible) when I die?' I'll stop Lego when it no longer interests me. I still have the highlights of my book collection and my tube (valve) radio collection. I emphasize highlights as I've thinned out both of them quite a bit. Once I had seen and done most everything in those hobbies that I could afford, I stumbled onto Lego. How long will it last? Until I run out of interest and/or money. As far as society goes, I've already done my part by becoming a lawyer, right? HAAAAAAA, couldn't resist that one. :-)

Lego.com order status saying Customer service
Off the wall replied to The Joker1's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Okay, so unless it's a limited edition offering like 41999, why would Lego want to limit the number purchased? I don't care if you buy 200 of the new Parisian Restaurant. If they run out, I can buy it when it's back in stock. On a product without a set, limited run, the more they sell the less scarcity and the lower the secondary market price. Again, I can see protecting real Lego collectors on something like 41999, but why does it matter on most other sets? I deal with resellers all the time because I got into Lego late in life. Glad the resellers are there or I wouldn't have the Taj Mahal or Eiffel Tower. -

Set up a two tier system. One tier is free, one is available for a modest fee. Maybe reviews or breaking exclusive info from Lego on new sets would be available only to those who subscribe. Or, whatever, I'm sure there are plenty of suggestions on what would be exclusive to paying members. No free rides. And please, no donation box where people can contribute like you are a charity. Set up a fee based system for a premium version of your website. -
Thanks, that's the type of information I was looking for! As far as ebay goes, bought and sold on it since 1998 and I've seen about everything. It's changed a lot in the past few years as far as buyer protection is concerned.

Question. Still playing catch up because I didn't discover Lego until late in life. I'm buying some retired products off of eBay and Amazon. I don't have a specific question about ebay since I've been participating there as a buyer and seller since 1998 and know the ins and outs of being both a buyer and a seller. My question is for those of you who buy NOS-new old stock-from resellers. Anything specific that I should be on the lookout for when buying NOS? Factory seals? Anything specific to beware of? I have nothing against resellers. They make it possible for me to obtain things that I would have missed out on all together. Their higher prices that I have to pay are simply the cost of getting a late start in this hobby. Thanks to all.

So? I drive past the Bentley dealer several times a week. I can't afford one. And, yes, it would be their fault if they were left out. We don't necessarily have a right to what we want. Especially the non essentials. Like a Bentley. Or the premium version of a website. -
I agree with you. Same comment was made long ago about the large Lego version of the Eiffel Tower. While I agree the color on both Lego versions is 'off', apparently it's no big deal to most people. Including me.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Off the wall replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
If you go back to the OPs first post, I think his intent was for this thread to be wide open as far as modular building discussions are concerned. With that in mind, as long as a comment has something to do with modular buildings, I think it would be very difficult to be 'off topic'. Just sayin'...... :-) -

Sure, a paid for premium version of this website would be fine. Go for it. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Off the wall replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I totally agree. The modulars need a more gritty, city look to them including more muted, but not boring, colors. I would like to see a bank or a school. I'll give Lego a mulligan on the PR as I've really enjoyed all of the other modulars. -
I suppose I have to ask myself two questions. First, do I like this as a representation of the actual building? No. I like 10181. Do I like it as a caricature of a famous building as seen in so many of the other Lego architecture series offerings? Yes. Thanks for the review, appreciate you taking the time to give us all an early view of this new offering. And, yes, I'll buy it as I have all of the others in the series and I'm a completist.

I ordered from Lego.com last Saturday and received the item with standard shipping yesterday. I've ordered a lot from lego.com this year and the packaging is always good and their EOR operation near Memphis gets things to me fast. Being an Amazon prime member, I get the free two day shipping if I elect to go that route. Sometimes I buy from Amazon if the deal is better. The local Lego store is my last option, for several reasons.

The Lego TV Commercial Archive
Off the wall replied to Brickadier General's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Lady.. Nope, not the same ad. I saw this one on YouTube. The one I saw was about thirty seconds and ended with views of a Lego town with modular buildings visible. I guess the ad I saw is so new that it hasn't made it to YouTube yet. The ad I saw started with a father/son building/playing with what looked like Technic builds. The ad ended with this panoramic fly over a Lego city where I could see the modular pet shop amongst a lot of other buildings. -
The Lego TV Commercial Archive
Off the wall replied to Brickadier General's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was suprised to see a Lego 'Let's Build' advertisment wedged between a Budweiser ad and a Nissan ad during the Miami-Pittsburgh college football game. I was going to post a link to the ad, but couldn't find on Youttube the specific one that I saw on TV. Apparently, Lego is getting a lot of good press on the 'Let's Build' ad campaign. I caught a glimps of some modular buildings in the ad that I saw. -
I wish that I could think of an adjective that hasn't already been used to describe these magnificent buildings. You are a talented person with a great eye for what it takes to design Art Deco. Thanks for sharing your designs with us! Magnificent!!!!!!

Okay, so my wife had to go to the Apple store at the mall. While she was at the much maligned 'genius bar'---at least by Sheldon Cooper---I strolled on down to the Lego store. No new info on the PR. It ain't there and they don't know when it will be. Proceeded on to a Starbucks for a cafe mocha. End of story.

Okay, so I'm sitting here watching hockey and drinking a beer. Called the Lego store. Quote.... "We don't have it at the store, don't know when we will get it and haven't been given a sale date for anyone." He was nice, but couldn't tell me what I wanted to hear. He'll never be a politician. Far too honest.... Note to the person who objected to one of my other posts: use of the word 'politician' does not imply my preference of one form of government over another.
