Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
Mandate replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Meh. I can't take what happened in episode 44 seriously. After Zane, the Overlord, Dr Julien, the Falcon, Lloyd, Pythor, Sensei Wu, Jacob, even Cole and Lou, As long as they don't recast Dareth, we'll be fine- 4,591 replies

Congrats on becoming Regulator. Anyway, I don't think anyone has translated anything yet, sadly.

Yes, it does make perfect sense. Some people just don't like the look of that style though.

LEGO has made a really awesome mini-game for the Tournament of Elements. I'm not kidding, this a great little time-waster. I'm impressed, especially after how disappointing Mask of Creation was. It has its flaws, yes, but getting to actually compete with your own ninja is pretty cool. It's not accurate to the TV show, but it's good enough by itself. I'd recommend you all check it out edit: LOL, ironically Griffin Turner is the slowest competitor XD

That was unexpected. Normally LEGO enjoys splitting platforms for their web games.

Except that you've missed the point of why people are saying "skeletal upper limbs going to bulky lower limbs is a bad design". I'm sure everyone here has seen Furno 3.0(I almost called him Tahu just then, gah), so he'll be my example. When Furno goes from thin upper limbs to (somewhat) larger lower limbs, it flows through, and similar to the overall design of the leg the lower leg goes from small at the top to large at the bottom. Here's another example: The legs flow. It's not just thin then a sudden fat piece of armor that gets skinnier as it goes down, it gets larger as you get lower. Most people are more used to this, and most like it more as well (I amongst them). But I agree with you, the backlash over this is unreasonable and as much as I hate these sets I don't mind most of the design choices they made. I just don't like the overall aesthetic. The reason why most people seem to hate the choice of armor is that it doesn't flow like it usually does in other sets (eg, Tahu, Furno, Kopaka, Gali, Breakout Stormer, etc) Just because a designer has constraints to work with doesn't excuse poor design choices (not talking about characters here, I'm talking about set design), a bad set is still a bad set. And likewise, just because you have a team of experts doing "all the right stuff" to get the "perfect" (or close to it) toy doesn't mean that the outcome will therefore be good. That's how we got Galidor.

Great MOC but... this doesn't look very much like the original.

"Never been done before" -Castle (2007) -NINJAGO -Monster Fighters (minus the skeleton bit) -CMF (both zombies and mummies) -Pharaoh's Quest (minus the skeleton bit, but they were mummies, so give or take as you will) -CHIMA (this is a huge one, especially regarding Ultrabuilds) -Minecraft -PotC -LotR (undead, but they did have a skeleton aesthetic at the very least) And finally, The LEGO Movie. Or at least I think I saw a non-robot skeleton somewhere in Middle Zealand. This list is bigger than I thought it would be Saw that coming a mile away

Happens to everyone, don't worry :)edit: oops, speaking of interfaces, had to do some cleanup after I accidentally quoted you twice

It would be good if you would read the rest of the argument (or at the very least act on the knowledge you gained from reading it) before giving your two cents, because everything you've just said has already been mentioned and discussed. It's off-topic anyway.

Not for the Summer, but for the Winter sets, yes. The entire season has been available to watch for two, maybe three weeks now.

Ohhhhh, now I see what you mean. I didn't mean to imply any connection between Ultrabuilds and a CCBS EF reboot, I was just using it as an example. I never said I did. I rarely buy Star Wars sets anyway, I'm just expressing my opinion. Really I don't like either of these, Vader seems to be too angular to me and Luke looks like a robot. I'm looking forward to Grievous, but I can also respect the techniques these sets have introduced, for instance, Vader is using an upside down torso piece, something I've never seen effectively used in a set/MOC before. Not really. It was used rather sparingly, actually. Actually, I'm willing to debate that. CCBS is more of a "neutral" type of build, but while there are definitely some awkward examples of the "BBS" system in EXO-FORCE, very few of them could be solely blamed on "BBS" parts, eg, Sky Guardian's arms could also be blamed on poor parts usage on the System/©BBS hybrid side. And at any rate, the grand majority of parts used that came from the "BBS" system were for aesthetic purposes, or heavily technic based, such as Fire Vulture's claws. And I have to agree with you on that last point, it almost certanly would. I was using a CCBS EF reboot as an example of something that would really anger the System fanbase, but it was an irrelevant example as Leewan pointed out.

What... how... why... exactly who are you responding to? Because I never mentioned the Hulkbuster, or Star Wars going full constraction anywhere. Despite what most people think, I'm not a complete moron. I'm very aware that Star Wars has a gigantic System line-up this year (and it certainly will next year, too), but what does that have to do with anything? But regarding the Hulkbuster, I'm talking about LEGO making full-blown CCBS mechs in lines that have always been System, not side-lines or using a part from CCBS here and there. Some of the first. There was also the original Granite Grinder from Rock Raiders. They did very well for their time, but EF is what really made LEGO mechs doable.

There's also Spyder.
-
Yeah, can't really argue with you there. Galidor looked more accurate to what it was trying to represent, but CCBS does indeed do its job far better than Galidor in every way. I just wish LEGO at least make some effort to improve the sets that are intended to represent organic creatures. Usually when I refer to System they mean Technic as well. Sorry about that. I have no issues seeing CCBS parts used in EXO-FORCE, just as long as they aren't the defining aspect of the line. But making the entire line CCBS? It's arbitrary. Unneeded, and it's straying away from what made EXO-FORCE a hit in the first place: Full compatibility with "regular" LEGO in every way you could think of, and an awesome line of mechs that many still love today. And after all the improvements in SNOT techniques and designer skills, it wouldn't be a happy day to see it go so far from its roots instead of improving on its base concept. We should probably discuss this somewhere else, it's pretty off-topic.
-
That's not innovation. That's rehashing an already done (and arguably failed) concept: Invasion From Below. EXO-FORCE was the pioneer of System mechs, and a pioneer of SNOT techniques. The effects of the line can still be seen far and wide today, in almost every mech LEGO has made since. Like it or not, a CCBS version of EXO-FORCE would virtually incite a riot amongst "System Elitists". Innovation is improving on a current idea and making it fresh and new. Leave CCBS Mechs for the HF reboot. Besides, if LEGO really believed CCBS mechs were an innovation over System mechs, we wouldn't be seeing any more System mechs

They aren't trolling. I'm willing to debate that Luke is worse than Galidor's style simply for the representation of humans here. For all of Galidor's simplicity (and ugliness), it never (or rarely) featured weirdly disjointed limbs on characters that were intended to represent a human being. I'm getting really tired of this gigantic debate over CCBS and System. There's a river of hatred starting to flow under the surface, and it's going to explode sooner or later. Most of the "System Elitists" as you would call them just simply don't want CCBS in their favorite lines. Example: Making a reboot of EXO-FORCE entirely out of CCBS. It's an insult to the legacy of the original line, and an arbitrary betrayal of the line's original goals, intentions and style.

Antimatter (and Ultra Agents itself, minus Toxikita and Invizable, who were just used as cameo models with different names) has nothing to do with the upcoming wave, or NINJAGO itself. Furthermore, Antimatter doesn't turn people into ghosts. And I seriously doubt that even if he did there would be an entire army of them, rather than just a singular ultra-villain. And besides, if you've seen the leaked episodes (like me) you'll know exactly where Morro and his Merry Men came from and why there's ghost villagers.

Nope, every dino is accounted for. Only raptors, T-rexes, pteranodons, dilophosaurus' and the I. Rex.

You're forgetting one crucial thing: These aren't Jurassic Park sets. These are Jurassic World sets. LEGO isn't picking and choosing from different movies with this, if it were a JP set we would have seen sets from JPII and JPIII already.

NINJAGO's cartoon visually occupied by vehicles? Other than the Destiny's Bounty, it isn't. Most vehicles get trashed immediately after they first come in, or are just never seen again (Lloyd's Jungle Raider, Earth Drill, all Skulkin vehicles, etc). You're also making a very broad assumption, especially seeing as NINJAGO has a sizable female portion of its fanbase.

I was too.
