I don't recall seeing any of the boxes confirming that, but if so, good riddance. Lloyd has been nothing but a Mary Sue ever since Child's Play. Edit: LEGO's ongoing troubles with basic web development continue! That, or suddenly the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy have enough to do with NINJAGO that they put them with the NINJAGO wallpapers.

Hard to imagine a novel covering twelve characters and only referring to half of them as "The Protector". Unless of course, it's 120 pages of Tahu-y goodness.

There is no possessed Lloyd. Morro is a completely separate character.

As much as I hate to bring the Vahi up for discussion (especially after I tried to stop it just pages ago) it would be foolish to assume it's not the least bit suspect after the strange wording of the mini-movies and weird plot points. Weird plot points such as: -Recurring Gen 1 Vahi. Not a plot point, but like it or not: it's the only serious reference to Gen 1 that has stuck around. -Sleeping Beauty Ekimu whispering a prophecy after his fight with Makuta. How did Ekimu know of this prophecy, where did it come from, and how did he know it was true? And if it wasn't intentionally spoken by Ekimu, then why did that even happen? -The Protectors used the Temple of Time to summon the Toa from seemingly nowhere, for all anyone knows they had been orbiting Okoto since the dawn of time (apparently they fell in comets) -The wording of the narrator: "Who they really were remained a mystery, but it was their destiny to defeat evil and save the island!" (emphasis was actually in there in the episode) There's almost certainly another "secret" in Gen 2. Even if it has nothing to do with the Vahi, or the guy at NYCC, or it's just a result of poor wording, you've got to admit that Gen 2 has something really weird going on with it. I'm going to start translating some of the stuff in the episodes using the sheet a few dozen pages back, because it looks like no-one else has yet. edit: Nevermind, language sheet is completely useless for translating the Okotan language. It doesn't feature all of the symbols of the language. Also, endless mode in Mask of Creation is brutal. edit 2: You can use any character in any level in Mask of Creation. That's kinda cool :P

That's so that he can lift his hammer. IMO, Gali's function works better (bought her today, great set)

@Ikaatril LOSS doesn't have limited play value? All it has is a grab function, in the long run it's just an elaborate and expensive Happy Meal toy. LOSS has more parts than a Toa, yet is awful in comparison. He suffers from a lack of play value - his mask doesn't do anything, he's puny in comparison to even the smallest of Toa, and he doesn't even have articulation to back it up. The Toa have gearbox functions yet still allow their arms a full range of motion independent of the gearbox, the Toa have dual-weaponry, the Toa have Golden Masks they can actually wear, and the Toa are just plain awesome in general. LOSS has no excuse other than his price limit, a $20 price tag would have allowed proper leg posing (and no added cost to recolored parts, the trans-orange legs wouldn't exist, and the shells can still be attached) and a less gappy construction. And Scorpio? Don't even get me started. Anyway, bought Kopaka today. Instantly my favorite Toa of the wave, I have yet to pick up Gali, Pohatu or their respective Protectors yet. PoI is awesome, glad I bought him with Kopaka.

The books don't come out until later this year, and unfortunately will be at a lower age group. Although funnily enough I was thinking of the scene in the Italian version of episode 8 (or was it 7?) after they defeated LOSS and Ekimu sounds cranky as if they had just killed his giant pet spider.

Such as Skull Spiders and Lords of Skull Spiders that fell short of the mark set-wise and were even worse story-wise? Not to say that LEGO can't make anything decent without rehashing an idea, but after this wave... my expectation are less than good.

How funny. The reasonable explanations give way to some of the worst sets, and the unreasonable ones give way to some of the best sets. Some of, anyway.

They haven't. Penkid has been checking for quite a while now, and I'd say it's long overdue especially with how huge this year is in terms of sets.

D'oh. They look so similar in the lighting conditions, I never bothered to look close enough. Sorry.

SKULL SCORPIO BATS! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! Jokes aside, that's pretty neat. While LOSS' function is most certainly more secure, it's going to be interesting to see how that works out for the set. And hopefully an army of them in the plot. Where is everyone getting the trans-blue stud gun piece from?

It's just that it never ends well for anyone. The argument never goes anywhere meaningful, or closer to fully establishing exactly what happened because it was never documented on video or audio and we only have eyewitness accounts. Both sides just get further entrenched in their own beliefs on the subject, and it gets ridiculous. Case in point on ridiculous: Vader's massive wall of text a few posts up. Not the post itself, but the amount of writing he has to do every time someone brings up the Vahi. It's to provide variation on the swing speeds. Larger gears allow for different speeds, etc. Makes for a more natural look in "combat" Maybe next year we'll find out. This year sadly doesn't seem to be focusing on the cultural aspect of Okoto. Maybe if the line is successful enough we'll see another (wishful thinking) 20 episode series by the end of the year focusing on the Protectors' duties/roles and other things. It would be an opportunity to make the Spiders actually menacing, and allow us to see what life on Okoto is like. It wouldn't be too hard, actually. As long as it was set either before the events of the current episodes or after they retake the city (assuming they do so this year), I don't think there would be a lot of trouble and it could also give a satisfying build up to next year's villain, like MNOG did.

But why where they a staple of EXO-FORCE sets for two and a half years, if that was the case? Why do they still exist in Star Wars and action figures? Why is it that in non-licensed non-exclusive sets they never show up now?
-
I sincerely hope that I'm not the only one that feels this way, or that has noticed this. Over the past few years, there has been an abundant lack of LEGO non-licensed System (take your 2014 HF sets outside the thread, please) mechs that feature actual, working knees. Or to be more specific: three points of articulation per leg. An exception to this rule is the Exo-Suit, but aside from that there have been nearly, if not zero, mechs with knees. One could bring up examples from NINJAGO, such as the Earth Mech, but an example such as that suffers from a lack of feet (or in other words, whether or not it can be described as having knees is debatable). A significant amount of posing is lost with this development, and it's inexcusable when it happens with virtually every mech they release now. Does anyone know exactly why this is? It's not a cost problem, because EXO-FORCE defies all logic in that department. It's not a structural problem, because again, EXO-FORCE defies all logic in that department, and it's not an aesthetic reason either because some sets have still managed to make the legs look worse, and EXO-FORCE again has cases where looks were a non-issue because of parts usage. Even if it was a cost problem, when you're releasing a set with two mechs later this year, one of which has four arms, is it really unreasonable to expect that there would be some decent poseability? That in itself is another problem, because far too often sets fail to feature the best possible combinations of the ball and socket hybrid pieces, a notable example being the set Jay's ElectroMech, which uses an inferior connection style to the most commonly used method of attaching feet to a Mech/robot/CCBS human which has had significant and dominant usage since 2001. I apologize if this seems like an incoherent rant (it's 1:20 AM), but I'm really disappointed with the lack of three points of articulation on System Mechs despite its heavy usage in the past and sloppy set design. Am I being unreasonable in expecting more out of sets and designs, particularly when aside from Exo-Suit there hasn't been three points of articulation in years? I'd also like to note that I'm speaking of non-licensed Mechs. Sorry Star Wars fans

Hate to be a downer on your party, but it's not a good idea to speculate on how the TV show will play out based off of the sets for the most part. It almost always ends up in derailed hype trains or disappointment. I'd even go far as to say that speculating on the TV show itself ends up being false in the end. Example: Group of people insisting that Griffin Turner was/is Dr Julien because Garmadon sassed Jay (not kidding). In some cases speculation can be somewhat correct, I remember saying a while back that the MechDragon was the new form for the Overlord, and while I was incorrect today as I was browsing Target I found the shelf label for the set called it "Overlord dragon" (something like that, can't remember the specifics, but it definitely had the word Overlord in it), which I would assume was a preliminary set name that didn't get corrected in their catologue. This discussion belongs in the TV thread, btw.

The actual name is "Dragon Sword of Fire". But there's a difference here. It's "Nunchuks of Lightning" or "Shurikens of Ice", it's not the exact same words being used for everything. Generic and repetitive comes into play when quite literally everything has the exact same "kind" of name. I mean, seriously: Mask of Fire Mask of Jungle Mask of Water Mask of Earth Mask of Ice Mask of Stone Everything is "Mask of X", nothing to make a distinction other than the element. Whereas NINJAGO, while it used extra words sparingly (Dragon Sword of Fire still sounds tacky to me) there was a uniqueness amongst them. Yeah, I'm really comparing oranges to bananas here, but after Generation 1 I don't think my criticism is wholly unfounded.
