Wow, nice project! I really like the style of the presentation, especially the first part. Map -> a Lego baseplate -> placing all the spaces on the baseplate -> the building. It's also a typical BIG building, a recognized it from the picture on the frontpage. Nice that they intergrated their other Lego project as a sunterrace in this design. I also really like (in what I thinks is) the basement, with the display of (all?) Lego products that are released in the past.

Wow, this set is awesome! I'm not that much of a Star Wars fan, but this set cotains so many lovely details. Especially the trees with hidden functions inside (closet for lightsabers, slide, hiding place etc), the bridge and the platform. It can also be extended easily with other sets in the Lego SW line! €250 is al lot of money though, even for a nice set like this..

That's an excellent review MaskedBuilder! I really like this model, as it contains a lot of details and angles, that are true to the real building. I might buy this one, but it could be out of my budget range.. One note to your review: It's not there anymore. It has been demolished in 1968, as it had fallen into decay in the 1960s. It has been replaced by a modern looking building to take better advantage of the site (thus a higher building)

Haha, nice one This reminds me of 'bunny suicides', is this also the inspiration?

Really nice, I recognize the situations. Good use of the flesh head! I'm also an architecture student and currently working on my graduation desgin, which has to be finished in five weeks, so I'm now entering 'Level 8'. It's just me and my project!

Thanks again for the comments! I bought the set yesterday afternoon, the last one in stock, so I was just on time. It's a lovely set, as you all said, with a lot of detail and it seems much bigger than I expected. I finished Ollivanders yesterday and I am doing Borgins tonight and Gringotts tomorrow. Than probably keep the set until I complete my LDD design. But this moc will be brick build Thanks for the advice on the colour, I might try that. Do you have a link or a picture to the QQS set your talking about? I can't remember seeing that before. I might do some more facades, when this is done, as I got some inspiration for them. Not sure about doing an interior. But let's start with these two

Thanks for the positive feedback, I appreciate it a lot Does anyone have a good idea for the roof(s)? I might watch the movie tonight, to see how they did the roofs in the movies.

As a Lego fan, I am slowly starting to enter some grey age again. I can easily without my bricks, but when sale hits in, I'm getting pumped up again. Last weekend I saw the Diagon Alley set for €99, quite a bargain you should say, but because of my 'grey age' I left it on the self. But ideas kept crawling through my mind to turn these buildings into some modular buildings. For inspiration, I browsed through the Google and stumpled upon this site with some photos of the Harry Potter Tour in London. So I opende up LDD and started building. As Ollivanders is one of the most iconic buildings of Diagon Alley, I started with this one. I'm really pleased with the round windows (and the door in between). But I got stuck on the roof, so it's just 10217's Ollivanders roof for now. Then I started with a rather common building for Diagon Alley, that I turned into Quality Quidditch Supplies. Here are some printscreens straight from LDD (should try that render plug in sometime soon to make the pics a bit more attractive) As you can see I used a lot of bricks that are actually in 10217, as I wanted to experiment with the bricks in the set (of course I'll add the required parts from my own collection) But I'm in doubt, does this moc have the potential to be brick build, if so I buy the official set this Saturday, or should I just leave it with the LDD.. In any case I would like to have some feedback on the build itselfs, especialy on the rooftops and the best colour for the Quidditch shop to go with the green. Thanks in advance

I would say it's the back. If you look at the official pictures on the lego site you can see the front in hq and it's different from the photo, posted above. But I think you can turn it around pretty easy, without anybody knowing it..

Thanks for the compliments :) I was planning to, but I don't have those bricks with two holes (as used in the official sets) at the moment. (It was finished too close to the deadline for a BL order) But I liked building this scale so much that I'll definitely build more. I'll order those 1x2 bricks with my next order to connect them :)

This is a two legged post. I just read here about The Hobbit being stretched into three movies. I still don't know what to think about it. I rather have it split in two (as it was) and then a third one about the Appendixes, but we will see how it will turn out. It's good for the LEGO line though! I'm quite curious with the sets the will come up with. And about the LotR releases in The Netherlands, I also haven't spotted them in real live, probably tomorrow. But I saw A-tembo in Delft has them for pretty good prices! (around 20% below S@H prices), it's worth a trip if you live nearby. They also sell Orc Forge.

B-M-08B Hereby I present you my entry for the modular madness contest. It's a addition to the Mini modular series as we all know. It's a house for the smallest dwellers of Legoland. My first idea was to make a modern house, but somehow during the build, it ended up quite classical. I think the reason for this is that I could add more detail and texture here. It turned out to be a satisfying build, as this scale let you use parts differently than in minifig scale. I'm especially pleased about the lamppost and the balcony. Front facade: The front facade from another angle: And the back facade with a porch and the beginning of the garden: I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Feel free to leave your comments. Good luck to everyone who is attending this contest and thanks to the staff for another amazing contest!

I've been in London last week. I picked up two random figs, as a souvenir for the Olympics (I'm not that interested in them). Picked up an archer and the judo girl. I visited the Lego store in Westfield (near the Olympic Parc) They were sold out there (so I filled a PAB cub), but the Olympic Store on the top floor of WHSmith had like 30 boxes of figures. I came across the minifigures, where they sell Olympic stuff and in toy stores. But they are rarer then regular figs. Near Leicester Square, it's a 10min walk to Hamleys (which is a huge toy store in Regent Street). I've seen the figs there for sure at the cash desks (not on every floor though). Hope you find them Edit: Oh, I just noticed that you visited London last Thursday. Hope you managed to find them!

Very nice tutorial! The most useful for me is the scaling factor (so minifig scale is in fact 1:~44 (100/2,28) and 1 stud equals ~34cm in that scale). It might come handy if I want to build something from real live in scale. Good job!

Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26

Good to see another update after quite some time! The quality is as high as ever. Keep up the good work -
I think he means that he already got GE and wants to add either TH or PS. (I can't provide you a picture as I don't have the TH and GE..)

Wow! I'm quite speechless about this set. I wasn't to eager about it as most of you were, but now with the high-res pictures released, I'm pretty amazed by it's beauty. I think it's reasonable priced, it's in fact nearly a modular. It's a matter of time after it's release before someone converts this Haunted House into a modular. Too bad they turned the movie to private, but I guess, it will turn up again soon enough.

You might find a solution in the Mini Modulat streets of Vincent Kessels, posted some days ago. I know it's a different scale, but try to make it bigger with the same technique.

Eurobricks Collectable LEGO Minifigures Series 6 Building Contest

Battle plans Minifigure 1: Series 4 Viking Minifigure 2: Series 6 Celtic Warrior Theme: Historic So, here's my entry for cat. B. A team of warriors is planning an attack on the castle of the landlord, as he is not very kind to his people. The build shows the discussion of battle strategies between the chiefs of the surrounding villages on a scaled model of the castle. The Celtic Warrior has to stand on the stud. Top view (The castle, with all it's buildings, is based on the pc game Stronghold. Which I used to play back in the days)
