  1. Thanks for all the comments. I hope the movie will shed some light on the purpose of the set. The included comic gives some hints but it is questionable if the comic is true to the final film.
  2. Thank you. Over the last days I got used to the look of the escape pod. It is a cool design but has a few flaws in Lego form. But overall not so bad as first thought. After a few requests I did a some additional pictures of Zods armour. I hope they show the coolness a little bit better (and also the big flaw!) Zod with his torso armour. The back covers a lot of the face and could be used as some kind of faceplate. Reminds me a bit of the Darth Malgus armour. Here is a sideview which shows the big flaw of the design. It isn't possible to use a hairpiece on the fig as long as the armour is on. A letdown Last picture shows the fig only with the helmet. Also a cool design which reminds me a lot of the Space Jockey helmets seen in Alien and Prometheus. A more techno-version of it. The back look isn't very "doublesided-face" friendly. I hope these pictures clarify some questions.
  3. Thank you all for the comments. Very appreciated. I will take a picture of it tomorrow and post it here. One big letdown for this look is that no hairpiece will fit on the head. The torso armour is to high on the back.
  4. I know what you mean. The funny thing is that the comic uses totally different and more accurate hairpieces for Zod and Superman. I spoiled myself and looked through the comic. By the way EB staff, thank you very much for frontpaging my review. It's a honor.
  5. Name: Superman: Black Zero Escape Setnumber: 76009 Theme: DC Superheroes Year: 2013 Parts: 168 Minifig: 3 Price: €26,99 Last monday the new Superheroes sets were added at the german Shop@Home site including all three Man of Steel sets. Without hesitation I ordered the middlesized set because of the three main characters and the nice selection of parts it seems to include. Here is my review. Enjoy. First of all the box. Front with action filled scene of the complete set. The side shows the new Superman figure in all its detailed glory. At the back you get another view of the set with some explanations of the main playfeatures. The sliding door was a little surprise for me. The content of the box. Two numbered bags, one comicbook, one instruction booklet and a small DSS. The DSS. I didn't apply the stickers so don't look for them on the complete model. The comicbook with random page. A lot of action in it and I think it contains a few spoilers for the final film. The instruction manual. Some picture as the box front. Also a random page. Contents of bag one without minigfigs. Nice part selection. The new gun. Cool piece. A great addition to every minifig arsenal. The two figures from bag one, Superman and Zod. Both figures got backprinting and doublesided faces. Notice the similarities on both bodies. A nice touch to show their same birthplanet. Zods body armour. Great pieces and usefull for any sci-fi themed figure. Really lovely. Full suited. The build of the base? I don't know where this place is located (inside a ship/spacestation?) but I hope the film will give an explanation. Very plain in my opinion with unexciting features. Spare parts. Nothing special. Contents of bag two without minifig. Again, very nice selection. Pieces of interest. SNOT! Nuff said. Lois Lane. Nice printig on both sides and a doublesided face. The hairpiece is ok, but I think there would be a more accurate piece for the character. More on this later. Now onto the escape pod. Pretty simple build with some nice snotting. The overall look is ok but there are a few big gaps at the front. Base Main body One of two sidepanels with nice details, but wait... ... its all covered up by two slopes as you can see on the model. Why? Shameless waste of pieces. The back of the pod with lots of thrusters. Complete pod with Lois. Spare parts. Again nothing special except the trans 1x1 round plate. The complete set with minifigs. All figures together. Sweet lineup. Comic and Movie version comparision. Notice the identical face. Now to a little bonus feature. Both, Superman and Lois, got hairpieces that didn't fit their movie versions well. For example Supes didn't sport the "s" curl in the movie. Here I tried a few alternate looks for both characters. Supes Lois, more movie accurate. Lois, comic version. Final thoughts Playability: 5/10 A few playfeatures but nothing exciting. Without the movie there is not much to see and the set feels a little plain. Where is it? What is it? Questions which hurt the score. Minifig: 9/10 The three main characters with great details and looks. Only the choice of hairpieces could have been better. Parts: 9/10 Great selection of parts in nice colours and the fantastic body armour and gun makes this set interesting. Price: 6/10 It is a little bit high for such a mediocre set. There is some shameless part use which could have been used better or cheapen the price. Total: 31/40 Score is better than imagined but the sellpoint to it are the minifigs, the armour and gun. As a parts pack it is ok, as a set to display it lacks excitment.
  6. Thank you. I didn't take it as a negative post. You made some very good points and I must admit that the chariot itself covers a lot of different ideas which didn't fit together to well in the end. The MOC is still alive and maybe I'll give the chariot another try with some of your suggestions in mind. Thank you for the comment. I have no problem with it if you show it to the Aquaman blog. Like you already said, a credit would be appropriate. Thank you. I really hope the Superhero line will cover more heroes and maybe more heroic sets for the guys and girls besides Batman and Superman.
  7. Here is a little MOC I put together a few hours ago. Enjoy. Aquaman, the king of Atlantis is ready for battle. He mounted his war chariot, pulled by two giant white sharks, to race into the fray and defend his kingdom. (I never understood the hatred for this character. It's a great hero with some really awesome stories out there. The more childish version, also depicted on the Big Bang Theory, is long outdated and has nothing to do with modern day Aquaman. All the skeptics out there, give him a try ;) )
  8. Some really awesome custom figures in here. Great work everyone. Here is my contribution for this thread. Yesterday I bought the Stagecoach Escape from the Lone Ranger line and thought immediately about a purist custom of DCs hero Vigilante. The new hat and guns a perfect for him. So here he is. Enjoy. Figure recipe: Hat & Guns - Lone Ranger Head - Bruce Wayne (Set #6860) Torso - Speed Racer (Set #8158) Legs - Baseball Player CMF Series 3 Scarf - Various Sets
  9. Thank you very much. There were some mistakes left, I hope I erased them by now ;) :)
  10. Thank you for the nice comments. Today I took two more pictures to continue the story. Enjoy. The landscape changed. The mountains were behind them and it would only last one, maybe two days until they'll reach the train station. From there they would take the next transport to Helena. The thought of a warm train compartment linked both men in mind. The horses plow their path with great effort through the deep snow as the wind turned. Richies horse was the first to scent their pursuer. The cuffed hands made it hard to hold the horse under control. Marshall Matthew Crane turned around to warn Richie to keep it calm. In this moment a dark shadow breached trough the trees. A big paw slammed the back of Richies horse and put it deep into the snow. He turned around and looked into dark eyes surrounded by thick brown fur. The Grizzly roars right into the mans frightened face. As his mount fell into the snow, Richie managed to jump away from the lethal wounded animal. Cranes brown stallion reared up in fear and threw his rider into the snow. A terrible sound entered his ears. A mixture of frightened screams and angry, vicious growls. Matt wiped the snow out of his face and looked up. A few feet away was Richie, frightened, cowering under a tree. Right in front of him was the grizzly. A big mean bastard covered in dark pelt. Without hesitation, Matt draws his colt, cocked the hammer and let the first bullet escape the barrel in a loud, fiery explosion. The lead hit the beast right into his side. The hit in combination with the sound surprised the grizzly. He didn't counted with so much resistance. He slowly turned to Matt. Every move hurt but there was his goal. A lot of fresh delicious meat. A second noise. This time the pain started in his right shoulder. All the bear could think of was to end this fight. He stormed upon the man in sight. BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG! Four more shots, three more hits. The bear stopped twisted with pain. Crane had to reload. He broke open the Colt and ejected the empty shells. His cold fingers made it hard to grab the new cartridges but with all his concentration he loaded one bullet after the other. While Crane still reloads his gun the grizzly charged and took up his attack. Thirty feet, twenty five, twenty, fifteen, ten. BANG! BANG! The first bullet hit the skull and weakened it. The second one broke the bone and penetrated the brain. A lightning raced through the animals body. One heavy lifeless corpse fell into the snow. just two feet in front of the lawman. Silence. Richie looked at the dead bear and the man who captured him two days ago. What an unreal situation he just witnessed. His sight turned to his dead horse. At this moment Richie hoped that he didn't has to walk the rest of their trek.
  11. Minfig: Cyclops Theme: Fantasy/History Legend says that on an deserted island lies a treasure deep inside a cave. A treasure which amount no mortal man can imagine. Many adventurers traveled to this island to get hold of the precious goods. No one came back. In fact this island is guarded, protected. A one-eyed giant looking over this island, keeping the treasure at its place. Today a new ship arrives under the watchful eye of the guardian. Full view. The minifig should be located at the lonely stud at the left top of the mountain. Forced perspective. The minifig would be blurry in the foreground. This is the intended view to look at the creation. Two additional links showing the vig with the minifig. http://imageshack.us...cyclops002.jpg/ http://imageshack.us...cyclops001.jpg/
  12. Ok, here is my entry. It's for the Diver. Theme could be City or Action. Sam and Max ( ) found an old diving suit at a garage sale. They bought it cheap complete with an air compressor to fill the suit with fresh healthy air. Both guys wanted to try out the suit immediately. They drove to the harbour and went to an empty landing stage. Sam put the suit on while Max was operationg the compressor. After Sam jumped into the water, Max was confronted with a lethal surprise. The compressor tube ripped from the helmet and leaves poor Sam in a heavy diving suit at the bottom of the cold dark sea Overall shot of the scene. Max with the faulty compressor. I guess some other interesting things happend at this landing stage. A complete view with the Diver Minifig: http://img580.images...7/cmf8outas.jpg
  13. Played around a bit. They may look nice as alternatives for the screen in the Palace Cinema :D
  14. @Jurassic Park Sets Hasbro has gained the license for new toys in 2014. They said they would do something new with the toylines. Not clear what that means, but I think a Kre-O line is more possible than a Lego one at the moment.
  15. Before / After
  16. Thank you very much. I think I will take a few more pictures to underline the story. Thank you. If there is more story, I'll post it. Und das sehr gut. Ist nicht leicht zu lernen, wirklich gut. Thank you both for the nice replies.
  17. Thank you very much for the comment. My first language is german. I started a few short stories to form an anthology book, this western story would be the second main story. Maybe some scenes would give inspiration for more LEGO setups ;)
  18. For a few years there is a story in my head located in the old west. I wrote down a few notes, sentences or little descriptions. No real readable text to this moment. Only thing that is almost ready is the beginning, and this part only in my head. This post will be my first attempt to write down this specific scene I recreated with LEGO this afternoon. Pictures will follow at the end. I hope you enjoy it. (Please be kind of my grammar, english is only my second language). It was the second day in the woods. The landscape was changing slowly. More trees than plain white fields of snow. Richie was getting nervous. The hangman was waiting for him and there were only a few days left until they arrived their destination. Helena. The capital of Montana should be his dying place. It could be worse. The Marshall rode slowly through the deep snow. His horse was fighting its way through this unlikely environment making path for the second horse Richie was riding. It could have been so much better. He was almost in Canada as the Marshall found him and his companions. All three of them were mowed down by the bullets emerging from the lawmans Scofield revolver. They never had a chance. He was the lucky one. The one which should commit all crimes of the gang and die as a peaceful man. Damn, this shouldn't be his end. His head hurts and he got a bullet wound at his right leg. Some souvenirs he took from the Marshall. Nothing serious but it bleeded a lot and took almost a day to stop. It won't kill him, the gallows surely will. Both riders rode down the hill, the snow looses its depth. The rest of the journey will become alot easier. But there were other obstacles to overcome. The blood on Richies pants attracted alot of predators. The ravens were easy to defend, they don't even mind to come to close. But one other animal was more vicious. A grizzly was tracking the scent for a day. It smelled tasty and he could use a fresh meal in this hard winter. The hunger was driving him insane. He would eat anything he could get between his paws. He moved slowly through the trees, sniffing the scent. Then he heard something, some kind of animal moving through the snow. His movement got slower and he passed through two pines as he sees them. Two twoheaded animals making funny noises. This should be an easy meal. Main shot Alternative
  19. The Caradhras pictures are great. Fantastic combination of LEGO, real life elements and background pictures. Here is my contribution to this thread. I'll posted the first picture already in another thread, but I think it fits better in this one. The second one is inspired by Riddles in the dark and similar to General Magmas picture in the first post. Enjoy.
  20. I don't know if it was mentioned before, but I think the crocodile bodies and legs are great bases for predator custom figures.
  21. Not fitting the "funny" category, but I really like this combination. Enjoy.
  22. Thank you, the studs are a little bit distracting indeed. On the other hand I decided to show them, so everything looks LEGO. For me it feels a bit weird to hide its origin ;)
  23. I purchased the recent X-Wing yesterday and had an little picture idea. Here it is, enjoy. Leaving Yavin
  24. I think there is still a chance to see an orcrist mold. The short gladiator sword could possibly depict his dwarven sword. When orcrist was publicly revealed, the design and production of the sets was maybe to advanced to include another new mold. We only got one copy of every dwarf in the first wave. When the next wave of sets hit the shelves we will see more doubles and the chance to get another Thorin (with a new sword mold )will rise.
