  1. LOTR343 beat me with the Trailer. :D It adds more action and humour. Looks nice so far, but I think the audience isn't ready for a fun-western
  2. Really fun to watch. Great work everybody. 5 - Thor's Day Off by MadAboutLego 10 - Practice Makes Perfect by DarthNick 11 - Life on Gotham Street by whataboutlego
  3. Many great entries. Some are near perfect Brick copies of the original cover. Awesome work. Here are my picks. 4 - by Oky 9 - by Captain Nemo 22 - by Brig. Brick
  4. Hard call, really great entries everyone. Here are my picks. 3 - by DarthPotato 11 - by Ninja Nin 27 - by Purpearljellyblob
  5. Great video. Thanks for sharing. I bought Unexpected Gathering yesterday. I totally fell in love with this set. It is just beautiful and a great representation of Bag End. It even looks good as a "architecture" type display piece (without any minifigs). This is the best set Lego released for the Tolkien licence in my opinion.
  6. What a lovely moc. I like the overall feel of it. Really nice medieval scene. Some of the techniques are great, too. Another point I like this so much is that Hamelin is my hometown. Never thought I would see a Moc of it
  7. Here is my entry for the Cover contest. First the original cover. http://talkingcomicb...l-665x1024.jpeg And her is my interpretation of it. Enjoy.
  8. Here is my entry. The Greased Monkey Nick Carsen was an everyday mechanic, fixing cars and motorbikes. He loved his job and everybody who knews him can tell you. All was fine until one day. It was a thursday evening. Nick just finished repairing an old Dodge as he heard a scream. He looked out of his garage and saw an old lady surrounded by three guys. The guys were clearly threatining the old woman. Nick was uneven what to do, in this moment one of the offenders slapped the woman in the face. This is enough, Nick thought. He grabbed a rusty pipe wrench an ran out of his garage. The first hit with the mighty tool came out of nowhere. With an unearthly scream, the guy hit the ground. The other two starred back at Nick. "Stop it and let the lady go", Nick shouted. The men looked at each other, began to laugh and walked into Nicks direction. He lifted his arm to let the wrench speak, but the two men were to fast. One of them punched Nick in the stomach, the other one kicked his head. Nick falls hard on the pavement. He coughs. In the corner of his eye he could see the swinging chain coming at him. He raised the wrench and blocked the strike. The criminal was surprised. He tried to take the chain back but it was stuck to the wrench. With all his power, Nick dragged the chain and set it free from the guys hands. This triumph gave Nick all the power he needed. He stood up and let the wrench swing at the end of the chain. With a marvelous strike he knocked out both of the remaining offenders. Exhausted but happy, Nick looked down to the now harmless men. The old lady came up to him, "Thank you, thank you so much. You saved my life." "It had to be done", Nick replies. "Not everyone would have done something like this. This City needs more people like you. I'll go and tell everybody that there is a new hero, a working class hero in town. Many will feel saver these days." The lady turned around and walked away. With a last look behind she said "Thank you" again. She vanished into the dark of the night. For a few seconds Nick looked into the night. He turned and started to walk back to his garage as he noticed something shiny in a vest pocket one of the men wears. He kneeled down and pulled a pair of sunglasses out. He looked at them. Nice. Slowly he put the glasses on. Maybe this city needs a hero. Can he be it? He doesn't know, but he can try. At this moment the Greased Monkey was born.
  9. Some really impressive armies in here. Here is a quick shot I took today. Strider fighting of two Uruk-Hai. Enjoy.
  10. The lighting is fantastic, indeed. The pose is also great. Really classic. Here is another quick shot from me, showing our favourite archeologist on the run. Enjoy.
  11. So many great pictures in this thread. It's a real treasure box for inspiration. Today I took some minifig photos. A few Star Wars themed ones also. Both pretty simple. Enjoy.
  12. Played a little bit around today. First with the figs, then with the lighting and at last with the graphic program ;) Nothing special, but maybe somebody likes them. Enjoy.
  13. Natural evolution. Here is a little Monster update. Enjoy.
  14. So many great new entries. It's a pleasure to look at them. Nice work everybody. A little remake from me. Do you remeber the Zombie picture in post #229? I took an improved version of it (thanks to a new camera) a few weeks ago. Today I played around with some texturing. Here is the result. Enjoy.
  15. Impressive army. The Uruk-Hai are great figures to army-build. So far I got two Uruk-Hai Army sets, Gandalf Arrives and Shelobs Attack. I took a little picture of the last set. Enjoy.
  16. Great review for a great set I didn't expect it, but I totally fell in love with this set. I already have two sets and are planning to buy at least two more. The new horse is just awesome and the figures are easy to mix up for diversity (for example: Eomers legs, Rohan Soldier torso, Eomers head, cape, shield and sword, looks great). One of the best army builder sets ever released in my opinion.
  17. A really great figure with nice parts and colors. Here in germany it is packed with the DS version of the game. As far as I know it is exclusive to a drugstore called Mueller.
  18. Thanks for the comments. @konze I found the bags in one of this shops: Toys&more
  19. Name: Ghost Setnumber: 30201 Theme: Monster Fighters Year: 2012 Parts: 35 Minifig: 1 Price: €2,99, Promo Bricklink Today I was looking for the new LotR sets and stumbled upon a crate full of ghostly polybags. I couldn't resist and picked one up for the collection. Here is a quick photo review (with rather atmospheric lighting ) The bag, front and back. Spooky. The contents. The short black chain is nice as is the ball. Fold-out instructions. The ghost. Very nice figure. I like the update to the mold and the chain with ball is a nice stylish addition. The blanket is glowing in the dark. The clock build is quick and unexciting but the final product looks great. Spare parts. Final thoughts Playability: 5/10 Not so much in here. This set is more an addition for every haunted house, apartment or other building. I think this will go very well with the Haunted House in september. Minifig: 10/10 A lovely ghost that glows in the dark. Can it be any better? Parts: 9/10 Many brown common parts, useful nevertheless. The standouts are the chain and ball, good for convicts of every theme. Price: ? Depends how you get it. I paid €2,99. Maybe other countries will get this for free as some kind of promotion. I heard it was planned for germany also (Buy MF sets for €20 and get it for free). Total: 24/30 Good and useful promo. Get it if you can.
  20. Name: The Werewolf Setnumber: 9463 Theme: Monster Fighters Year: 2012 Parts: 235 Minifig: 2 Price: €19,99 Bricklink Here is my third review for the Monster Fighters theme. As with 9461 I build it a few days ago. No unopend bag shot, sorry. For the theme itself, I'm very impressed so far. The overall design of the builds and the figures is great. In my opinion one of the best action themes in recent years. But enough talk, here is "The Werewolf". Enjoy. The box of this set is pretty big. Lots of empty space in it. The back shows off the playfeature and the glow in the dark claws. Cool The instructionbooklet. Twisted as always. There is a nice picture at the end of it showing the characters face-off. The Minifigs. The werewolf is a nice and new design. A mix of the CMF werewolf and the "put on head" one from the Studios line. A cool little figure with amazing prining details. Major Quinton Steele has a singlesided head with nice face expression and one of the most useful torso and leg prints this line has to offer. I can't say it enough times, the prints are gorgeous. Same cool pieces in this set. You got a golden fez, darkbrown gun, trans-orange 1x1 brick, silver frog, olive leafs and the longer cheeseslope in tan. Up to the main build. First the Majors Hot Rod. Very nice design. Nothing to hard in the building progress. Next part is the tree. There are a lot of bricks used inside the trunk (2x4 green brick, for example). The outside is sometimes very fragile but in the end it is sturdy. I like the use of the new brick bricks at the bottom. Gives the build a weathered touch. The spare parts. Nice to see another glow in the dark claw. The finished set. The tree has a nice creepy vibe to it. I like it. Last thing is the playfeature. You can place the Werewolf (or any other minifig) on top of the tree, pull the lever down, the front leafs split and the figure flies through the air. It functions very well and is fun to play around. Final thoughts Playability: 8/10 The Hot Rod is a nice little vehicle, there is always a good playvalue to such a thing. The playfeature in the tree works well and adds a lot to this set. Minifig: 10/10 Just great. Amazing detail and useful prints. I like the new werewolf design, even if its head is a litte big. Parts: 9/10 Nice selection of brown and tan. The new olive colored leaves gives a nice variety of foliage. Price: 10/10 €0.08 per piece. Nuff said. Total: 37/40 recommended Other Monster Fighters Reviews: 9461 The Swamp Creature 9462 The Mummy
  21. Name: The Swamp Creature Setnumber: 9461 Theme: Monster Fighters Year: 2012 Parts: 62 Minifig: 2 Price: €7,99 Bricklink At the moment it is hot as hell here in germany. I couldn't sleep so I decided to review two other Monster Fighters sets. I build the set a few days ago, so I didn't have pictures of the closed bags. Sorry. Now here it is, my review of "The Swamp Creature". Enjoy. The box of the Swamp Creature had the same overall layout of the other MF sets. It is very appealing as a Horror inspired theme. The old-style picture of all characters at the back is a nice touch also. The instructions and random page. The highlight of this set. The Minifigs. As I said in another review, the prints in this line are amazing. This set is no exception. Both figures got backprinting and doubleprinted heads. The creature is a very cool and unique addition to the Lego monster squad of the recent years. Pieces of interest. This clip piece isn't new, but in this color it is only available in 4 sets. The little environment build to hold the gem. Nothing special here, but nice parts. The Swampboat in build. Nice design, simple build. The finished set. Spare parts. Nothing unusual. Final thoughts Playability: 7/10 Human vs. Monster, no playfeatures but a vehicle. Ok for a set this size. Minifig: 10/10 This category is a total winner. The creature is beautiful designed and unique. Frank Rock got some awesome torso and leg printing. His face is also nice. Stunning figures. Parts: 7/10 Nice selection but nothing to special. Price: 10/10 Good value. This set is a great introduction into the theme. Very well put LEGO. Total: 34/40 recommended Other Monster Fighters Reviews: 9462 The Mummy 9463 The Werewolf
  22. Bad picture. It's still white, only the bandages glow.
  23. Name: The Mummy Setnumber: 9462 Theme: Monster Fighters Year: 2012 Parts: 83 Minifig: 2 Price: €9,99 Bricklink Today I got my third Monster Fighters set. Up to now I'm very impressed with this line. The Minifig prints are awesome and with this set I got a new favorite female head. Let's stop the talk and let pictures speak. Enjoy. First the box. Standard sized for a set in this pricerange. The back shows the whole set in a different angle. Nice comic and overall layout (fullmoon and so on) The content, two bags and one instruction. Instructionbooklet and random page. The fullmoon in the corner is a nice touch. At the end there is an overview of all the sets and their stars (except the Zombie one). Pieces of interest. One nougat palisade brick, four round bricks in dark tan, two golden claws, two arrows and the monster gem. I really like these artifacts even when they are only usable in a few layouts. The Minifigs. Both got backprinting. Ann Lee got very nice torso and leg printing. Really Ann Lee uses the hairpiece of the CMF Cavegirl. It's ok, but I don't see a good use of this piece outside of action or horror themed female figures. Without a piece in the hair it looks dull. But what piece to put in other than an arrow or bone? Now to my favorite part, Ann Lees doublesided head . I didn't noticed the scar on previews pictures. In my opinion it gives her face a great character and makes her amazing. Here is a comparision of the recent Mummies. From right to left: Monster Fighters, CMF, Pharaohs Quest. The MF and CMF looks similar but different enough to justify a purchase. Now up to the main build. First the little helicopter. Easy, simple build. Looks nice, but nothing special. The Mummies chariot in-build and as a completed set. The skeletal horse is the same as usual, this time with a "glow in the dark" feature. Spare parts, nothing unusual. And now a very crappy try to picture the glow in the dark feature of the Mummy and the horse. Like I said, the picture is bad but you can get an idea. The Mummy itself don't save the light a long time, I think it depends on the print. The horse is cast in the glowing plastic and holds a nice glow much longer. Really cool effect. Final thoughts Playability: 8/10 Human vs. Monster, two vehicles and some weapons. What do you need more for an playsession? Minifig: 10/10 The Mummy is nice, but the glow is lacking. Ann Lee on the other side is great. Only her hairpiece could be improved. Whatever, I still her. Parts: 8/10 Nice selection and useful, too. The horse is a great addition with a very powerful glow. Price: 9/10 Pretty good value. As an introduction set the Swamp Monster is the better choice and the better monster. On the other hand, when was the last time that you got a female character in the second cheapest set of a new theme? A route Lego definitely should follow in the future. Total: 35/40 recommended Other Monster Fighters Reviews: 9461 The Swamp Creature 9463 The Werewolf
  24. So much inspiration from so many great pictures. Fantastic thread Today I took some of my Minifigs into the garden for a photoshoot (covering different themes). Here are my CMF ones. Enjoy.
  25. I bought the Sea Creature and Werewolf set last Friday. I'm very surprised by the amount of detail and colour choices. The new olive is great. The printing on the Minifigs are awesome. Very useful for other themes, too. Btw, I the Werewolf.
