  1. So many great pictures. It's a pleasure to skip through this thread. Here is a little shot I took today. Enjoy.
  2. The wings are great. Really good looking ship
  3. Thank you all for the replies. Very appreciated. After two days of looking and playing around with this set, I think it is the best from this summer wave. The original price may be a bit high, but the value you get is worth it. One of the best SW sets in a long time.
  4. Try the bigger supermarkets. Some of them are making room for the new sets right now. I was also put off by the high price point and never bought it. Three weeks ago I found the set in a store called "Marktkauf" for €40. It's worth the search.
  5. Name: Desert Skiff Setnumber: 9496 Theme: Star Wars Year: 2012 Parts: 213 Minifig: 4 Price: €29,99 Bricklink Today I bought the new Desert Skiff set and decided to do a review. At first I thought the price is a bit high, but more on this later. Let's begin with the review. Enjoy. The box. Lengthy and shiny with a nice picture of the set. Back of the box, showing of the features. I really like this kind of pictures. They give away a good feel about the set. The contents. Three bags, instruction booklet and three plates. Instructions, random page and comic at the end. The booklet feels very thick and sturdy. Minifigs of bag 1. Luke and Boba are both newly designed. Both are single faced and only Luke got backprinting. Bricks of bag 1. Nice tan selection. In-build and finished Sarlacc. Looks better in person than on pictures. A minifig fits easily into the mouth but that's it. If you can get a poor fella in it, there is no more danger coming from old Sandmouth. You know the digestion can last thousand years Spare parts. Minifigs bag 2. Lando is just awesome. Great print and the helmet is a beauty My favorite fig of this set. Kithaba is also great, nice face. Both got backprinting but no second face. Bricks of bag 2. These new pieces are very useful. Nice creation LEGO . In-build and finished bag 2. Spare parts. Up to the third and last bag. No Minifigs in this and to a great surprise not one spare part in it. In-build and finished Skiff. Some really simple but nice techniques. Besides the plank there are three more features at the skiff. Moveable wings, a weapons compartment and one flick fire missle at the left side under the skiff (not pictured, sorry). Completed Set. As a bonus a little comparision with the first LEGO Skiff. Pretty impressive size on the new one. Fun fact: This picture shows my very first and latest Star Wars set I bought. I realized it while building. Very emotional I hope you enjoyed my little review. Now the final verdict. Playability: 10/10 The new skiff is great and very swooshable. Nice features round this up. The sarlacc is a welcomed addition and nicely executed. Minifig: 10/10 4 figs. Two really nice ones (Luke/Kithaba) and two awesome ones (Boba/Lando). The latter ones alone make this set a must have. Parts: 8/10 Nice selection in useful colors. The new snot pieces a nice. Price: 7/10 I was lucky and used a 10% coupon, so I only paid €26,99. I think this is a good price for the set. The original one seems a bit to high but at the end you get nice figures and a pretty entertaining build. It is way more satisfying than 7956 Ewok Attack or 7749 Ecjo Base with similar pricepoints. Total: 35/40 Highly recommended.
  6. Those two are most likely. I think the gear on both is quit appealing and usable. Brego Snowmane
  7. Received the package yesterday and finally took some pics today. Cpt. Jack: What's that? SpaceMarine: It's moving inside and I can hear mumbling. Mia: Quick, let's cut it open. Mia: Oh no. Another layer of flexible prison plastic. We need to help this little green and funny talking man out. Cpt. Jack: Is there gold inside? SpaceMarine: It's a Leprechaun. Mia: How cute, another ginger. Stormie: He is a little bit on the short side. Mia: Welcome to the ever growing family of Minifigs owned by Plissken. Leprechaun: Did you see my pot of gold? Thank you very much. The Leprechaun is a great figure and totally fills my needs for another pot of gold piece. I'm really happy. The pictured Minifigs were chosen randomly, so it is a total coincidence that some of them fit so nicely with the little fella and his accessory. Thanks again for this raffle.
  8. Thanks for the link. Did I see it right that you got two extra rings with this set? Very cool
  9. I just saw that I won. Thank you very much for this great contest and the raffle. I'm really happy. Congratulations to the other winners, too.
  10. I did my voting for both categories. Great entries everyone and good luck.
  11. 6) Toxic Cleanup (Sleepyhead) Entry (Build by Darth Yogi) 1 Point 11) The Fisherman's Surprise (Clockwork Robot) Entry (Build by JackJonespaw) 2 Points
  12. 4) Butcher Entry (Build by Walt) 25) Alien Entry (Build by Dan Church) 29) Lady Liberty Entry (Build by Praiter Yed)
  13. Nice to hear that my review could help to make a decision. Thanks.
  14. Congratulations for reaching the 10.000 votes. Very nice. As for the possibility of producing this set: With all the attention gained by the media and Simon Pegg, there would be a really negative image impact for Lego if they shut this down. I think we'll definitely see this set in the future
  15. Minifig: Sleepyhead Theme: Town/(maybe) Monster Fighters Sleep tight ... and never mind that noise you heard. It's just the beast under your bed. Sleepyhead lies in his bed, dreaming of great things to come. Music comes from his radio and put him to sleep. What was that sound? Nevermind. The underground beneath the house keeps a dark secret. An ancient beast is living in these caves, picking up it's victims in their sleep. The remains of the former houseowners still lying on the ground. Will sleepyhead wake up before it's to late? C&C welcome.
  16. Thanks to all for the comments. Exactly Good to know, so it seems to be the normal situation. At first I thought the helicopter looked funny, but after a little bit of research it's pretty realistic. So much, I would say you can use it in a City layout without much altering. Skycrane
  17. Name: T-Rex Hunter Setnumber: 5886 Theme: Dino Year: 2012 Parts: 464 Minifig: 2 Price: €69,99 (got it for €59,99 ) Bricklink Today I bought my fourth Dino set. This time 5886 T-Rex Hunter. So far I'm very impressed with this line. The dinosaurs are fantastic and even the vehicles are nicely build and cool looking. This set is no exception. Here is my review of it. Enjoy. First at all, the box. Front, back and side. I added my custom Nathan Drake (PS3 Game Uncharted 1-3) to show the size of the box. The box contains 5 bags, four numbered and one for the T-Rex. Two instructions cover the build. Random Page (taken from book 2) The DSS. I didn't apply the stickers, so please don't miss them on the final build The instructions and the DSS were packed in a bag with cardboard. Safe delivery, good job Lego Now to the build. Contents of bag 1. First the Minifigs. Backprint on both torsos. Faces are only onesided. Both faces have a pretty special expression so their use is a bit limited. At the end the figs a nice and I really like the olive green legs and torso of the pilot. Looks great. Pieces of interest in bag 1. There are many dark red grille pieces in it and it's only the beginning. There a lot more coming in the other bags. Next the T-Rex. Great mold, very possable and a great size. I love this piece. Hello there. The first vehicle in the set. The small buggy (in-build and complete). Nice litte build. The trailer (in-build and complete). Nothing special but okay. Both attached. The crate contains a spyglass and a camera. The camera is a simple build but looks very great. The dino carriage. It attached to the studs on the back of the Rex. The arms of this build could never hold a figure this size. Spare parts of bag 1. Bag 1 (and special) completed. Contents of bag 2. I really need a bigger "studio". Pieces of interest. Some nice parts for snot use here. The tail and main body. It is very colourful at the inside and you get a taste of how big it will get. The engines. Good looking and sturdy. Engines attached. In the following pictures the engines are one stud to high. I fixed it in the last pictures. Spare parts from bag 2. A few to many I think. I looked through both instructions and I couldn't find the step where the additional round 1x1 studs and the blue pins go. If anyone can help, please tell me. Contents from bag 3. Pieces of interest. 6 yellow 2x4 tiles. Nice. Main landing gear. Sturdy build. The cockpit. Very heavy and bulky. It gives the chooper a nice look. Attached to the body. Spare parts from bag 3. Nothing special. Up to the last bag and it contents. The cockpit gets finished. The rotorblades in-build and attached to the final set. Spare parts. The complete set. Very hard to photograph, it's very big. Final thoughts Playability: 8/10 You got a nice Chopper to swoosh around and a great dino to catch. A lot of possible play sessions ahead. Minifig: 8/10 Nice torsos, faces and I love the olive green pants. Parts: 8/10 The Rex is fantastic, very fun to play with. The set itself contains a lot of useful parts in bright colours, different tiles, a whole bunch of dark red 1x2 grilles and more. Nice selection. Price: 7/10 The actual price of €70 may be a bit high at first sight, but I think it's a good value you get. If you can purchase it for a lower price I absolutely recommend this set. Total: 31/40 I hope you enjoyed the review. For everybody who looked through a little bonus picture of a WIP diorama.
  18. This is Sting, Frodos and Bilbos sword. The sword in the Moria set looks like the Gladiator sword.
  19. I'm just skipping through the pictures. So great. A few thoughts. Helms Deep: Theoden's helmet is awesome, it's a pity that Aragorn is the same like in the Weathertop set. Haldir has some nice torso printing. Gandalf arrives: Frodos face looks funny and nice touch to give him a different torso. Shelob attacks: Sting looks great and Shelob looks to be a great build. Mines of Moria: So many stickers but the set looks very good. The troll is great, too.
  20. Much better pictures over here: http://i.toynewsi.com/g/index.php?mode=album&album=2012_Toy_Fair%2FLego&dispsize=800&start=60 There is no own category for LotR yet, only Lego 2012. The sets look amazing. A new horse is indeed included in "Gandalf arrives".
  21. Frodo looks different in the "Gandalf Arrives" Set Maybe they used only placeholder figs for the display. It is possible that they are different at the NY Toy Fair.
  22. Thank you all for your comments, very appreciated. Yes, I know it is not the biggest set and my complain may be a bit harsh. I was only a bit disappointed that this set is called Hideout and it's in fact only a garage. I expected at least two seats for the robbers. Add a second cup and a small table (1x1 round brick, 2x2 round plate) and it would be fine. That`s four more pieces. If it can't go over 300, skip the trike. For the Hot Rod I thought it would be a little bit more interesting after I saw the first pictures. False expectations. Thank you both. I totally missed the placement of both pieces while I build it. In my opinion, they are great. Thy add a nice detailed look while not needing a great amount of pieces. A good alternative. It will be interesting to see the bricks combined with true build lego brickwalls.
  23. The red starfighter (what is it called?) looks nice, much better than the prelim picture. The Malevolence looks nice, too. Padme seems to be I hope the planet sets lasts a few waves, the mini ships are great (the Cloud Car looks sweet).
  24. Thank you for the picture. The sets looks really great (from what you can see). The brown horses (Gandalfs and Theodens) seems to have a white blaze on their head. The head looks also different than previous horsemolds. Very exciting This is going to be a must buy theme for me this year.
  25. Name: Robbers' Hideout Setnumber: 4438 Theme: City Year: 2012 Parts: 300 Minifig: 4 (+1 Bear ) Price: €39,99 Bricklink I'm not ne casual City buyer but as I saw the first picture of the new bear I fall immediately in love. I was really happy to see that this creature was also included in a "smaller" City set. The forest themed police looks also interesting. On Monday I decided to get this set and ordered it online. In germany it is an Lego Shop exclusive (no Toys R Us or else). I don't know if it's the same in other countries. Today the set arrived and I started the build and review. Enjoy. Front of the box. Back of Box. It shows the features of the Set pretty good. Topside of the Box. I like the inclusion of a background. Contents. Four bags, two instructions, a DSS and a 16x16 green baseplate The DSS in detail. I didn't apply those, so please don't miss them in the other pictures. Booklet No. 1. This covers Bag 1 and 2. Random Page Minfigs in bag 1, front and back. All three have prints on both sides, no doublesided faces. I like the new hat. The bear. Just great. Standing and running. Pieces of Interest in bag 1. A golden 1x2 tile and a new mudguard. The trike. There is a 1x2 printed "Police" tile. Exactly the same like in last years advent calendar. Hot Rod build in progress and finished. Pretty simple build. Spare parts from bag 1. I think I forget to add the grille piece to something. Bag 1 complete. Contents from bag 2. This only builds the Police Truck. Truck build in progress. Pretty colourful inside. Finished truck. The trunk is supposed to carry a prisoner. It won't be hard to escape this Spare parts from bag 2. Booklet No. 2 and random page. This covers bag 3 + 4. Bag 3 + 4 contents Pieces of Interest. Two new 2x2 modified round plates, eleven nougat brick bricks, 2 1x3 black tiles, two more golden tiles, a dark red fez and a transclear figure head. Nice selection. The fourth minifig is also included in this bags. doublesided print, singleprinted face. Hideout build in progress. Hideout finished. It's more like an Forest garage than a hideout. Nothing special inside the house. I didn't expect much but this is very disappointing. Spare Parts bag 3 + 4. Complete Set. Final thoughts Playability: 8/10 There are no real playfeatures but you get three vehicles and two opposing forces. A lot of chases are possible and the hideout is nice looking from the outside. The interior needs a lot of MOCing. The vehicles are also a mixed bag. The trike is nothing special, the Hot Rod a simple build and kinda boring. The police truck has a nice design and looks even great on it's own. Minifig: 8/10 Two cops, two robbers. Very nice printing on all of them. Great addition for a city setup. The faces of the robbers are great and very useful. Parts: 9/10 You get alot of brown bricks, tan plates, a great green 16x16 plate and 11! brick bricks. The standout piece is the bear. Really great. Price: 8/10 It's a nice set. In my opinion a little bit overpriced but this might be the result of the exclusive status. For parts and the bear it's good value. Total: 33/40
