  1. Oops...apologies for the mis-attribition!
  2. You certainly have a great knack for adding a lot of detail to a relatively small build! The foliage is really nice, as @narbilu pointed out it's very dense and believable, but for me the stand out item is the detail you've added to the rockworks and soil, with studs pointing in all directions. It's blended perfectly and very pleasing on the eye. Good work!
  3. These are very nice work @mccoyed! So nice in fact that, when I do my character introductions for Varlyrio (which I'm 99% sure is the guild for me) I will probably do them in a similar style. I love the way you've laid down some basic catfolk cultural niches and there's huge scope for some epic tales with these characters! Glad to see the propogation of @narbilu's sword and cup religion, I think that will be a great way to flesh out Varlyrio.
  4. Thank you! Thanks for the kind words. At the moment it's just a one off build, but I did enjoy it so I might do some more in the future.
  5. Like many of you, I did most of my growing up in the 90s and as a result LEGO themes from this time have a special place in my heart. Who can forget Wolfpack, Indigo Islanders, Octan, Ice Planet 2002 and Spyrius. Those names conjure up hours spent on my bedroom floor in worlds far away! These days, the Neo 90s Space movement has brought many of these space themes back to life in ways which expand upon the originals like never before. This MOC is my interpretation of how the Spyrius set 6835 would look in this context. For those of you who can't remember (or weren't born yet ), this set was a small scout ship, with a mostly symmetrical body and four thrusters at the edges of it's diamond body. At just 45 pieces, it was small yet it left a lasting impression on me that to this day I can't help but smile when I see the images of it, albeit it hasn't aged all that well. In my upgraded MK2 version, I've made the ship much larger and longer in keeping with the Neo Space precedents set by other AFOLs. The classic elements which make up the design I have tried to keep: the prominent thrusters, the diamond body, the computer tile at the front and the hexagonal cockpit. The gun above the cockpit always bothered me - I'm no shrinking violet but I always imagined a small scout ship to use stealth and manoeuvrability to get it out of a tight spot. One piddly little gun won't make any difference to its survival chances! Instead, I've re purposed it as a sensor array connected to a transmission antenna at the rear of the ship. With this new addition, the ship can communicate while in deep space with Spyrius HQ, sending information on its whereabouts and findings from deep cover. Inspired by several other ships with snazzy presentations, I made an attempt at my own. With it's mission deep behind enemy lines, one saucer scout uses its secret Spyrius maps to land on a remote moon and take advantage of a Spyrius supply dump, complete with food, a hibernating repair robot, power generator and communications antenna. Larger pictures can be found on my Flickr stream. Happy to hear any feedback!
  6. Really nice design, love the trans purple.
  7. Nice scenery and love the microscale ship, good work!
  8. Thanks for the update, I've been able to reduce my valium dosage this morning following on from your reassurance!
  9. Thanks for the ideas to get our characters out there @pombe! One question, where there is the best place to read about the radiation "incident" that occurred at the end of AG1? I tried looking in the AG1 archives but there are so many MOCs it's hard to find it.
  10. As mentioned in a couple of other threads, I would like to participate in AG2 when it is launched. Whilst I didn't participate in AG1, and don't know the format inside-out, I like some of the points raised in the first few posts of this thread. The biggest barrier to participation for me is when the build rate is too high. I would never be able to participate weekly, thanks to having a small child plus an intensive full-time job. I would likely only be able to participate in challenges. One suggestion to overcome the issue of Google forms is I could write a scraper to scrape the forum and automatically read the details of each build provided there was an agreed template. The output could be a CSV file or database that the organisers could use. This would of course be subject to approval to the EB admins as I don't want to fall foul of any ToS breaches, but if this is something that would be helpful please PM me.
  11. I'd like to register my interest in AG2, I've made a Bricklink order for a bunch of lime parts as I plan to join MANTIS, and hopefully I will get a prologue build up over the Xmas holidays. Appreciate its a busy time of year for everyone, but it would be great to get an idea of how similar AG2 will be to AG1 in terms of roles, factions, etc.
  12. Another build where you've nailed it...! Fantastic story too.
  13. Beautiful scene. Really like the black railings on the second floor.
  14. I know this is an old thread, but I really wanted to tell you how great these stories are! It's clear you've put a huge amount of effort into them. I'm waiting to see what happens with AG2, but I'm on a space vibe just now and fancy joining MANTIS when it restarts. Your work is certainly a big part of that decision!
  15. Tabashii's Tea House While not originally created by the Skudae, the art of the tea ceremony is most significantly associated with them, and a number of tea houses exist in their capital of Civus Skudae. One of the most famous tea masters is Tabashii, who moved to the Western Isles to seek his fortune amongst the new Loreesi nobility. The nouveau riche of Port Valiant are frequently seen in his establishment, soaking up what they see as Skudae culture. This experience does not come cheap, and Tabashii himself has amassed considerable wealth from their desire to seek out new experiences and cultures. More pictures on Flickr.
  16. Tlahuicole was a war captain of the Tlaxcala, a tribe who lived adjacent to the Aztec Empire during the middle ages. Captured by the Aztecs, Tlahuicole repeatedly requested the honour of being sacrificed to the gods, but his legendary battle leadership meant instead that the Aztecs used him as a general in their army. Finally, the emperor granted his wish and he fought in a gladiator duel against 8 opponents, all of whom were disabled by the Tlaxcalan. However, he was eventually felled by the ninth, and sacrificed to the gods. In this scene the ninth warrior is the (fictional) Cipac, who manages to restore the honour of the Aztecs after a fierce duel. This is an entry for the Lego war group's 2016 competition - final duel category. 17. Really nice shaping, particularly at the bow!

    Belial

The Belial is an advanced alien spaceship, inspired by Tibor Bedats. This one has been a slow burner...I had an enforced Lego break for over 2 years, but thankfully now I'm set up in my new house. Hope you enjoy!
  19. Well, here's the thing...natives are non-playable at the moment. I know some of you will be disappointed by this (myself included), however, I think it will hard enough to manage four factions without a fifth there too. Natives will be involved in the story as NPCs, so there'll be plenty of opportunity to build them, but for the moment I'd go for characters associated with the four factions previously mentioned. Can you give me more context to your question? What do you mean by "count"?
  20. This is an incredible entry! I'm loving those buildings so much, particularly the one at the back with the three domes! The use of light blue and dark green is expertly done. Your battle scene is fantastically staged too, and I like that you've shown the aftermath. I really can't praise this MOC enough! One minor thing I notice when seeing it is, it's a bit too 'square'. I realise you've stuck a lot into a small footprint but even if one of the buildings was not at 90 degrees with the others, it may have made it more natural. This is truly nit-picking, but that's the only thing that I can really say against it! Hope you don't mind the feedback. As for the tan - you say that you used the same lights and same direction, but the last piece of the puzzle would be was the white balance on your camera set manually? If it's set on auto, different levels of light can cause it to change settings, causing slight colour differences. Sorry if you already know this!
  21. Very nice tree. As mentioned by others the arches at the base are really cleverly used. Great work!
  22. Really nice use of the dark orange pieces for the tree! A nice idea, a ritual dual in a sacred place. Great work!
  23. No problem! We've not completely defined how ranks will play out, but it's not likely to be too detailed. What I mean is that, your character can be any sensible rank (e.g. using the table on the right as a guide, anything up to and including commodore/brigadier), as these will not be explicitly modelled. That means during your character introduction, "Major John Doe" (as an example) is perfectly acceptable. Being a lower rank, e.g. private or equivalent, is perfectly fine too, and exploring your character as he/she advances up the ranks could be a good way of showing other players your character story! However, some ranks, such as admiral/general, will probably be assigned through voting or scoring (exact mechanism to be defined), as these will have special effects. No problem. Feel free to ask questions at this time, but bear in mind that answers I give are only preliminary, and could change in the final agreed version of the rules. I know how it feels to appear to be in the dark about things and I don't want any early enthusiasm to be lost if it takes 3 months to release the game proper. Whilst I am "in the know" I should point out that I am not volunteering for faction leadership (there are others that are though) so I have limited influence over driving the game forward. Think of me more as a special advisor! I'll try and update periodically (say, every 2 weeks) so that everyone can see that something is going on! If everyone remains patient then I think it will be worth the wait...!
  24. I thought that was the case - I'm totally fine with people making historical colour comparisons to choose their factions, it's just I'd rather avoid people then playing like that once the game commences. You are of course correct regarding the historical limitation of technology, dress and politics. These will be emulated sensibly within the RPG elements of the game and hopefully the players will stick to the era. I will say that fantasy elements are permitted (think PotC) but they will probably be limited by local science level, i.e. the old world will probably have fewer fantasy elements, where newly discovered islands may have more fantasy elements reflecting the lack of local scientific understanding. This is again something that needs to be better defined. Finally, there is no need to apologise for asking questions...I realise things seem to be moving at a glacial pace but they are moving and more information will be forthcoming as soon as it is agreed. I'd suggest eager players begin to think about what factions they want to join, think about who their character is and their backstory. Then you'll be ready to join as soon as the game is released!
  25. Remember that red is not England and blue is not France. They might be motivating factors for joining a faction, but this game doesn't care for the baggage those associations will bring.
