Hmm. Not very inventive, but I guess it could be a nice parts pack. But yes, it's much too basic to really represent the real building.
-
Of course, there's nothing wrong with multiples of minifigs. Actually, the figures here are fairly uncommon. Most have only appeared a few times, or even just once (I think the Astromech and Nute Gunray were only in one set each). The vehicles and things could use some improving, but I think the minifigs are good enough considering this is an Advent Calendar. The black Astromech justifies the inflated price tag for me.
-
Yeah, you're right. The figures here aren't really that special, but there's no real reason why they should be, maybe apart from the Christmas Yoda figure for extra incentive. Still, maybe it's just me, but all of these figures are ones I'd want, even though I already own most of them. Clones and Stormtroopers are always nice, and I don't own that particular Astromech. I think that's meant to be a Crab Droid. I don't know, it's not as recognisable as the other ones.
-
Yay! The Advent Calendar has become a must-get due to that black Astromech. I forget his name, but he was previously only in that large Death Star set. The mini vehicles/droids are... nice, I guess. I wonder if that lightsaber will have the new green blade? Edit: I've finally been able to take a good look at a Mouse droid. I've analysed it, and now I shall begin creating an army of Mouse droids.

Well, the white Boba Fett has the old version of the mould, with the helmet and jetpack being one piece. It's probably more unique because of the usage of the old piece. Then again, I'd like it if the exclusive minifigs were more like this black ARF, because they could potentially be canon or fit into a collection. I prefer the ARF, personally.
-
Ooh, nice. I wonder if this will appear in a regular set in future, if it's canon. The figure looks great, but it's not that "special" when compared with those chrome and rarer figures.

Hmm, you're probably right. It still seems a little odd, though. Yeah, unfortunately the Ice dragon is visibly smaller than the others, and doesn't fit in very well. I understand the Earth dragon being completely different from the other three, but the Ice dragon seems badly thought-out. Either way, it was the first out of the four types to be released, so it was probably more like a prototype for the more "finished" Fire and Lightning dragons.
-
Oh, wow! It looks very similar to that image I posted earlier, which is surprising given that the image was from the Ninjago DS game. This looks bigger than the Fire dragon, and it definitely overshadows the Ice dragon. I think I may risk waiting and paying maybe double the price of the Skeleton Bowling set for a complete set of dragons. Not sure if this is an exclusive set though. It does look a bit big for an exclusive set, so I hope it isn't one.

As everyone had thought previously. Oh well, I won't be getting the book so not a big loss there. Actually, wouldn't they need to make a whole new mould if Chewbacca got a medal? Doesn't seem very likely to happen.
-
Bandwidth exceeded? Oh well, I'll come back later. This set is great, but I'll probably have to pass as it's way too expensive over here.

Nice review. Well, at this rate, the minifigs interest me more than the actual ship does. I particularly like the torso that the guy with the tan hat has, not sure why. It could be useful.

Interesting. I hadn't thought of doing that before. The prices are much worse than I'd thought they were going to be. Actually, the inflation is about as bad as with Star Wars sets recently. Looks like I'm going to have to cut a lot of my Pirates budget, particularly because I want almost all of the new Star Wars sets. By the way, is there any news on Mace Windu's Starfighter? -
Nice! I prefer Buzz's, because of the spaceship theme especially the front engine parts. Zurg's doesn't look evil enough, I think. Anyway, great work.

Oh no, another good promo set that I'm going to miss out on. First, the wooden Jack minifig, and now a cheap opportunity to get Jack in his full outfit. Oh well... -
These sets look better and better with each wave. I haven't got any space left in my budget for them, unfortunately. The villains look quite nice. Unlike the earlier years of Bionicle, they're all completely different from each other.
-
Interesting. I'm not much for UCS sets myself, but it's a nice display piece. Dengar seems to have a new head wrap, but I have no idea what the piece itself actually is. Is the wrap a new mould altogether?

I was happy to see series four at my local Target, and I got ten for $4 each. I didn't rely much on the dots, it was basically just a blind pick with occasional checking to make sure I didn't get duplicates. I got two hockey players and two painters, though. I also didn't get the hazmat guy or any of the more special ones, unfortunately. Still, got the space shuttle. At least it's not a Big W exclusive. -
Well, given the option between a realistic war theme and a cartoon-styled science fiction theme, yes, it probably wouldn't sell. Actually, that's a very good point. The only major vehicles that do have similarities to modern ones are probably those planes. The rest seem to be relatively "neutral" vehicles, as they don't really have weapons.
-
Everyone has good points. A realistic military theme would be great, but probably wouldn't sell well. A dark grey plane couldn't possibly compete with colourful alien ships, and I can't imagine a realistic military theme being integrated with a story and everything. The closest we've had to an actual military theme over recent years is probably Indiana Jones. If there's a significantly-marketed movie that features these things, perhaps it may be a possibility, but not a focus. Something like the A-Team (the original television series) could be appealing to kids, however outdated. With the humans vs. humans point, there have been a few themes with this. They don't, however, have tanks or giant mechanical walkers to massacre each other with (Star Wars doesn't really count).
-
Ah, okay. Well, there go my chances of getting one, but nice set anyway.
-
I know nothing! I guess the head was to be expected. It looked like the same "soft" plastic, so I had a feeling it was joined.
-
That's a nice little set. That jetpack piece will come in handy, too. It's not an impulse set by any chance, is it? It looks impulse-sized, but I'm not sure if it's a polybag or not.
-
It doesn't look as if there are any, but I want missiles underneath personally.

Ooh. If it's actually an exclusive minifigure, then it's a shame I'll be missing out on it. I'm interested to see what it is, though.
