Looks nice! The extra length is more proportional and the extra width actually makes the ends of the carriages easier. My only complaint would be that it looks to be sitting up a little high on the bogies.

These are incredible, the amount of detail in each is staggering. Each building could do with it's own post. You've really managed to recreate so many different architectural styles so well at an enormous scale, amazing!

I hate baseplates and wish they didn't exist. Regular plates can fill the same role. I like friends figs. And best of all, if you don't make your own creations, you shouldn't bother with Lego. Anyone can buy and build a set.

I always come back to this same stale comment but it seems appropriate here: your town needs trees. Your street looks very nice and everything is good quality but it appears so concrete without some more foliage to soften the edges. Even the most arid towns' horizons are dominated by tree cover. Something like this would bring untold life to your town.

What's with this plethora of tiny parts?
pinioncorp replied to DrJB's topic in General LEGO Discussion
If it's too small, try Duplo. There's always been small parts and will no doubt continue to. They make a build more detailed and intricate. Considering the huge size some AFOLs build with their tiny parts, I can't imagine the hobby being very accessible with larger parts. -
LEGO 1:43 Scale Chevrolet Trucks and Wagons...

LEGO Historian, Please contact me regarding what I have paid you for but still have not received. -
Imagine if you went to a Lego show and everyone simply had ipads with their digital creations on it. Not everyone has the money to make what they really want, which is understandable, but part of the challenge is making something with what you have. If it's not out of bricks, then it's not Lego. Sitting at a computer is not the same as putting the physical bricks together - you can't know if the parts are available, or if it would really stay together. The modelling programs are for planning and design to assist in making your model a reality, not a final product.

6th Anniversary REVIEW: 31015 Emerald Express
pinioncorp replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This set pales in comparison to its 2008 counterpart, 4837. This new set is smaller and not as well proportioned, and the omission of the second set of small wheels makes the set less dynamic. The carriage in particular looks out of proportion being so short with such large wheels. The red accents are also unwelcome as they don't tie well with the rest of the set. A step back in my books! -
What is generally cheaper/part sets or bricklink
pinioncorp replied to Zerobricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Bricklink sellers don't sell parts at a loss. If you're looking to expand your collection, regardless of what type, buy sets that are currently available. -
Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
pinioncorp replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
For the love of all things ABS, I hope not. A Lego store in Australia would be good fun and all, with it's pretty pick-a-brick walls, but you'd lose the ability to get these exclusives on sale. Without a Lego store in Australia, the exclusives are given to retailers, who then discount them to help them move. The Lego stores wouldn't be so generous. Plus, with the prices they charge here for sets, can you imagine what they'll charge for pick-a-brick? -
Nice! Is it heavy enough? How does it manage with a load? With the exception of the smooth roof, this could pass off as a 90's set.

The new creator set (31026) will be a good option for towns, it includes lots of doors and window parts. It launches later this year.

Moc Lego Steam Locomotive LNER 4472 Flying Scotsman
pinioncorp replied to jamesed_1971's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Nice FS. It's always interesting to see how people approach this and what elements are important to them. I like the running board over the wheels and the lighting system, both of which I never managed to get into my version. The tender is a tricky one to make look better as eight wide, maybe some parts in front of the wheel holders as decoration? I do think it looks very heavy on the frame, with the wheel splashers sitting on the far extents of the footplate rather than over the wheels. The cab is also a bit too tall which makes it look even more top heavy. It'll look great with green wheels, look forward to seeing the finished product!- 24 replies

They look fantastic! So dense and organic. Very nicely done with interesting use of the pirate ship wheel piece.

MOD: Victorian Railways AEC Rail Motor Car
pinioncorp replied to scruffulous's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Front windows are two dark red plane windows sandwiching a transparent brick (with plates on top to bring it to height). Front doors are stickered panels. -
I really love the interior, it is very detailed. The reading tables are just like the ones in my city's state library, complete with banker's lamps. I don't like the exterior personally, I think it'd look better if the windows were aligned vertically. Makes a great addition to your street, makes me want to do it to mine.

Alternate Palace Cinema Movie Posters
pinioncorp replied to Johan the Yellowhead's topic in LEGO Town
Detroit is weird. I know it's in a dire financial situation after the downfall of the auto industry but the fact that so many giant swathes of land are unoccupied amidst the skyscrapers astounds me. Surely the land itself is worth more than a carpark? But do check out Jim Garrett's wonderful Detroit architecture. Some of the best Lego skyscrapers I've ever seen. But back on topic, has anyone tried a Type 1 door frame, with a clear glass pane in the front and a white pane in the back? -
^ Because he wants town parts specifically. Considering you missed the first three modulars (Cafe Corner, Market Street, Green Grocer), the Haunted House should definitely go on your list. Sand green is unfortunately absent in your lineup and this set has some great part variety, all of which are great for buildings. Grab two at least.

LDD MOC: Club Car for the 7938 Passenger Train
pinioncorp replied to Lazarus's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I apologise, I didn't intend to sound too critical but in my opinion I thought the part choices were sub par. This is my club car. It's your design to do with, but keep in mind the spectrum of parts available and what you're trying to achieve. -
LDD MOC: Club Car for the 7938 Passenger Train
pinioncorp replied to Lazarus's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Complete missed opportunity. The standard base is available in white (admittedly in short supply) but the roof is completely pointless. This piece is available in the required trans-black, whereas the part you have used is not. You'd need to get 6 of those trans-clear clear hinges (which are extremely expensive) and they don't even match the colour or curvature of the roof.
