  1. A Greek mythology world and starter pack would be fun. It does not need any licensing as long as you do not base it off of a franchise such as Clash of the Titans, Percy Jackson, etc. I could see using the Medusa minifig that was released before as a playable character. Of course, her attack would be to turn an enemy to stone with one hit and then shatter them with the next. You could pair her up with a hero such as Achilles or Hercules in a Team Pack. The adventure world could have endless possibilities with Mt. Olympus, the sea, the underworld, The restorations could be amazing with temples, creature lairs, and other structures.
  2. If such a thing did exist, I would imagine there would be a lot of complaints about how repetitive the build is. It would get boring rather quickly building virtually the same exterior over and over for a very steep price. They look good as MOCs, but would not be practical as a set.
  3. This is an excellent usage for this piece. It appears to add structural support to roofs done in this way.
  4. If you are willing to substitute certain parts/colors, then the older ones can be recreated for the most part without too much difference. Like the example with the Green Grocer, some people have made a sand blue building instead. If you want to keep it in sand green, you could use two 1x4's in the place of the highly expensive 1x8 and you could substitute the 56 grooved bricks with masonry bricks. Those two subs alone will save you a pile of money.
  5. So several of us have had missing parts on this build. For some of us, it is the first ever legitimate missing part in a lot of builds. It makes me wonder if quality control slipped a little bit in order to have this set released on time for January 1. With 4002 parts in this, perhaps it is easier than normal for this to go undetected in the weight checks. There was nothing left over other than the normal expected tiny extra parts after missing the 1x4 brick, and I am positive it did not get misplaced or is still in a bag. It kind of makes me wonder how many others are missing parts if those of us here only represent a tiny percentage of those who bought the set.
  6. Some things that come to mind are the piano in the Heartlake Grand Hotel, the Defender Video game console from the Dimensions Midway pack, and Chief Wiggim's car from the Kwik-E-Mart set.
  7. I had a little bit of fun borrowing one of my son's new minifigs to make a visit to the dentist. I can see the temptation to buy another one to make three grand buildings, but alas, the funding requires me to be glad there was a way of even getting the one. Though, I cannot wait to see what you all do with the supersize version of these.
  8. That is a really good looking set, enough to think about eventually getting one. The color scheme is great and it has some nice details. Just one question....where is the remote control for the dog?
  9. Looking forward to the Fun and the Beach set. I wonder what color the lobster will be as they are only red when they are cooked. I would expect to see a volleyball net, some beach umbrellas, a beach ball, a sand castle, and a surfboard along with the minifigs. A Hawaiian shirt torso could also make an appearance.
  10. It seems like the BAM station is more of a way for excess parts to be sold. Often, it will not be so random. It could be a limited selection of torsos and pants, sometimes even only a few varieties of these. They probably will not match very well either. If you have mostly construction worker torsos, sad clown hats, and green pants, there is not much you can do. The best aspect of the BAM bin seems to be the accessories as they usually have some good ones in there. The heads almost always have a good selection too. It is mainly the torsos and pants that are the limiting factor at my store.
  11. If the laundromat is made into its own structure, it could fill in the 16 stud gap left by Assembly Square. I am considering doing this not only for the sake of trying to maintain a block fit for modulars, but the bank looks a lot better when it is its own building as in the photo above.
  12. The Lego forum was the first one I tried after emerging from the Dark Ages. Quickly, the juvenile aspect of it was realized, and I finally found Eurobricks as the forum I was really seeking.
  13. This was my first modular, and it easily got me hooked to buy some of the others. It does have a nice exterior. Even the interior is not too bad with the lobby features. Limited space makes the relatively few seats in the screening room understandable. The set received a lot of criticism for being the only modular with stickers, but I can understand why the decision was made to use them. It would have been prohibitively expensive to have to print the movie posters on both sides of the plastic. The colors scheme on PC is very nice, and it does seem towering compared to some of the later ones. For those who need that extra 16 studs, the current options seem to be: (1) make their own modular to fill it in (2) buy another AS and double the size of it. (3) Buy another creator set like the new townhouse and mod it fit in the gap (4) Create an open "green" space like a park.
  14. Just finished building it last night. It is truly a great modular with a lot of details and building techniques. Funny thing is that days ago, I posted in the "missing parts" thread in general discussions about how I have never had a missing piece in a set. Well, there was indeed one not there in Assembly Square. It was missing a 1x4 LBG brick. Just to be sure, I scrutinized every single bag to ensure it was still not in one. A thorough look at the building area also revealed nothing, so this is a first for me. Thankfully, I had some of those, so the problem was easily solved. I am not going to order a replacement since TLG will apparently cut you off if you use the service too much.
  15. Excellent! As long as you have the space for it, I would say go for it and try to make the whole cathedral.
  16. Looking at the approved project, it is difficult to tell what part(s) the designer has placed the decals on. If it is a series of stacked round plates, then this is going to produce a dilemma. If STAMP's were to make its appearance, I could only imagine the outcry. It would be a reaction similar to the UCS Assault on Hoth. In that case, I might refrain from applying the stickers. It looks like the flags, "USA", and "United States" are the only details that need printing or stickers. They might consider doing a print for the command module as well.
  17. No, this typically happens with newly released sets that are much anticipated and deemed to be popular. My prediction is it will return to stock in a couple of weeks after the initial rush is over. Then, it should not be a problem except maybe during VIP double points offers. The only thing you really have to consider getting quickly are certain Lego Ideas releases as they can be more unpredictable with much more limited production runs.
  18. Excellent ride design! Here at Six Flags over Texas, it is one of my kids's favorite rides, and they call it the Gunslinger. This would look great next to the Ferris Wheel.
  19. After reading about the in store experiences, there is one word I wish TLG would add to their vocabulary: preorder
  20. Yes, as long as it closely resembles the original design. Hopefully, it is structurally strong and they do not feel the need to use stickers for any of it. My rewards points are being set aside for it so that it will be affordable when it is announced. Lately, there has not been much mention of the set. It was approved in the same round with Yellow Submarine, and that has already been released. I think the project also had two minifigures in addition to a microscale lunar lander (the LEM). If they keep the minifigs, my guess is they will represent Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. It would be nice if they could include a third for Michael Collins to have the complete flight crew as he often gets ignored due to the fact that he remained in orbit around the moon. Anyway, yes, this is a much anticipated set, and the expectations are high on this one.
  21. Nice job inside and out and especially with the themed rooms. If it were me, I would probably try the pirate room first, but they all look nice.
  22. I was curious about what the activity would be in the Lego stores on the morning of January 1. My original plan was to get to Stonebriar Mall in Frisco, TX to get Assembly Square just before opening, but my youngest got sick and I was the only one who could watch him until the afternoon By that time, I figured it was too risky to make the 30-45 minute drive to only end up not being able to pick one up. You basically confirmed my worst fear so we ordered it online instead.
  23. Digital designer is useful. I have a lot of grey parts that can be used to "practice" a build and test things like structural integrity before trying to use the colors I really need. This seems preferred, because LDD does not necessarily indicate how well a model will hold together.
  24. Welcome! A good place to start is in this introduction thread. No problem being new as we all were at some time.... http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/forum/17-hello33-my-name-is/ This thread will explain the ranks and various titles you will encounter
  25. I have heard of people buying sets, removing minifigures and/or other certain parts, and then returning it for some random reason. Problem is that the person at the returns counter is probably not a Lego expert and certainly does not have the time to verify the contents. It would be time consuming to also keep a record of who returned it in order to help establish a pattern or identify the culprit. No doubt, this was a key reason why Lego has the seal on the boxes. I would probably not buy a set if that seal was broken. Already, we are in the habit of checking them to make sure they were not tampered with, especially if the set came from Walmart, Target, or any other large store where it is hard to constantly monitor activity in that aisle. The chances of this happening at a Lego Store are much smaller since they are typically well staffed.
