  1. It appears that a lot of the wave 1 sets were overproduced. Rumor has it that the stock for the 99 cent stores originated in other big box stores like Walmart, therefore it did not come directly from Lego. In three of the area stores, the common factor was an army of Krusty the clowns. Why so many of those were produced is beyond me. He is sort of an unessential character as the Bart or Homer packs can access the world. Krusty does not really have any unique abilities either. He does not make a particularly good parts pack with the unique character mold and the hodgepodge of colored parts, so even resellers are not gathering this one up. There were also a smaller number of Portal 2 packs in each store. We also saw Nya and I finally found Scooby. With the cost of production, labor, and packaging, I would have to think that $1 would be a loss for Lego to have to sell at that. It would appear that someone took a loss on these in order for them to end up at those stores. Oddly enough, there is no overlap with the Five Below store, who is trying to sell the three Chima packs as well as Gimli for $5. If Gimli were in the 99 Cent store, I strongly suspect he would sell quicker due to the army building potential.
  2. Both are nice, but I prefer the Parisian Restaurant. It looks great inside and out on all sides. PR happens to be the older one, so it could retire sooner than the bank.
  3. A very visually appealing structure. The blue and gold accents work very well on this. Excellent work!
  4. Well done! The outdoor extension blends in well with the structure. The expanded blue section with the barber shop is also nice.
  5. Fantastic design! The scale reminds me of the Star Wars Super Star Destroyer flanked by the other ships in the fleet.
  6. Also having two cats, I can tell you that one solution would be to have the collection in a room that is closed to the cats. Perhaps the bedroom should be closed to them? For the most part, my cats do not mess with Lego, however if they manage to knock a minifigure or small part off of something, they might take interest in it when it lands on the floor. I once had to reorder parts because the younger cat did exactly that and chewed on the separated part of the MOC. If the builds are fairly large and bulky, like a building MOC, they tend not to bother with it. With what you just described, the real fear should be the part about chewing on electrical cables. A long time ago, my friend nearly had their house burn down because a pet chewed on electrical stuff. I remember seeing the fireman coming out with the adult dog and four puppies, all of them dead.
  7. Also wondering about Apollo 11. Wouldn't structural integrity be addressed before the decision is made to approve something? Then again, Wall-E and Exosuit come to mind as possible counterexamples. It seems like you would want to have an actual model of the subject at the review process to be sure it can be produced without any major design flaws. Not that I am saying there is one in the winning design for the Saturn V, but leaks coming out for the Fishing Store and absolute silence on the rocket, it does appear that something has stalled.
  8. FYI for those trying to get some of the earlier packs---if you live near a 99 cent only store, it might be worth your time to check it out. They are selling some fun packs, team packs, and level packs for $1. I read about this on Brickset, so decided to drive a few miles to where one was located. Inside were a handful of Portal 2's, Nya's, and an army of Krusty packs. Was hoping to find Scooby Doo, but will hopefully be able to check another store this weekend. To those of you who live in California, be warned that someone has been apparently been hitting all of the stores in their area and buying literally everything on the shelf in the hundreds. Some stores now have a limit on how many packs you can buy, so be aware of all of this if it is a far drive for you.
  9. My son will be upset of Lego City does not happen. He was looking forward to that the most. I would be surprised to see something like Beetlejuice make it in at the expense of Lego City. Beetlejuice was a fun 80's movie, but other than AFOLs and some nostalgia fans, who would be interested? We know Lego City has a definite fanbase as it is an evergreen line. You never know which themes will come up or be cancelled, but you can always count on a bunch of fire and police sets every year. Powerpuff Girls and Teen Titans Go should do well as they are on the cartoon channels on a daily basis.
  10. Amazing station! The curved roof really works well with it.
  11. I am going to guess either Lovelace and Babbage or Voltron. Or maybe both.
  12. Glad to see the Goonies pack will be coming soon. The pirate ship and bone organ builds like great! The choice of Sloth is also a sound one. I just hope we do not get the "Hey you guys!" line too often in game play. We do not often play Batman and Superman together anymore because of the coffee and tea remark about every two minutes With that said, if the Cyndi Lauper song is part of the adventure world soundtrack, I will give the pack an automatic five stars.
  13. There are several websites out there which categorize the characters and abilities. We bought the game in December, so like you, we feel like we are kind of late to the party. Our strategy has been to try and get the Year 1 stuff first. On the game, that is all of the stuff in the "Vortron" world. We have a couple of packs where the gateways are in the "Shard", but those are relatively newer. With that said, I would focus on getting the level packs you really want as well as to try and get a representative from each world other than the three default ones. Cragger works best for Chima since he is the only one who can tackle underwater Chi situations. If you are planning on being a completionist, then you will definitely need a character from each world and every ability. Hire a hero can help with some situations. If a Portal 2 device need is encountered, you have to have that level pack. I do not think every character is needed, but it looks like the majority are. Check the Five Below stores, big box stores like Walmart, and Toys R Us online. We have not had much luck with Lego S&H since they seem to be sold out of a significant number of sets, some of which are year 2.
  14. Very nice house! The perimeter fence works really well with it too.
  15. Looks great in your layout! I was kind of wondering if you were using your attic as I noticed the sloped ceiling. Fortunately you do have enough space to have a nice town setting in there. The next challenge will be where to put new modulars as they are released. In my house, space is really limited, so I have to take apart a modular every year in order to make space for the next one. Like you, the hope is that someday there will be a Lego room with enough space for all that stuff that is out in addition to what is disassembled in plastic bins right now. The supersized modulars look all excellent, as does the square. I will bet that took a lot of bricks!
  16. Amazing work. This is a dream come true for those who have hoped for the combination of theater and Lego. All of the thespian minifigs are great as well. It is really great how the stage and actors are interchangeable to allow for different scenes.
  17. It would be a shame if they stopped now. We just got into Dimensions over Christmas by getting the boys PS4 and this game. Right now, our goal is to try and get as much year one stuff as possible before they entirely disappear. We are prioritizing by that and which packs we want the most. One thing I noticed is that S@H is already "Sold Out" on even more of the recent stuff like Sonic and Fantastic Beasts story pack. Even Gremlins was showing "call for availability". Toys' R Us seems to have all of them still available for online order. Stopped by Five Below yesterday and it was essentially a lot of Gimlis and all three Chima packs. Even if they stop after the announced sets coming (Beetlejuice, TTG, PPG, Goonies), that is still a lot of game content. Hopefully we can fill in the gaps before some of the ones we are after become hard to find or expensive in the aftermarket.
  18. Great tropical scene with the 50's style car! If they ever make a 50's diner set, that would go well with it.
  19. As a big Lord of the Rings fan myself, I see the following as some potential weaknesses with its Dimensions form. First of all, the world itself is already part of the starter pack since Gandalf allows access. Therefore, you need none of the expansion characters to access it. Being able to access new worlds is often a strength with fun packs. Then, you have the character abilities. I feel that Legolas, Gimli, and Gollum are rather weak in abilities compared to some of the other characters and themes that have been released. For the most part, it seems like their abilities are fairly common, and the associated builds are average. In all honesty, I am really surprised Frodo was not one of the characters. It would have also been great if they had introduced a new character that was not in the prior sets. Sauron, Witch King with armor, Faramir, etc. might have been interesting if done right. I have hardly seen any Wizard of Oz packs lately. Even if you are not a fan of Oz, that pack alone offers access to almost 30 gold bricks. As for Ninjago and Chima, perhaps the mistake was making too many packs for one theme. I will probably end up buying one Chima character to access the world and get a rare ability. The choice will probably be Cragger since he is apparently the only one who can use Chi underwater. One or two Ninjago packs would also suffice, but after that, it seems redundant to buy any more unless you are really a fan of the theme. Lego movie characters had the same weakness Lord of the Rings did. The Lego Movie world is already accessible, so the only reason to buy them would be if they had a vital ability or you simply liked the character.
  20. Very realistic. Also a great use of the grey "trigger" parts.
  21. Now having had Lego Dimensions for month, my hope is that if they do decide to add character packs for existing worlds, especially those like DC Comics Characters, my hope is that they expand the opportunities to get gold bricks in the respective worlds. My boys and I are completionists and we like to upgrade all of the vehicles and stuff that comes with the characters. As it stands, each world has a maximum capability of producing 20-30 gold bricks. That means that a world has the capability to upgrade two to three gadgets or vehicles to the third form. This is based on the fact it takes three gold bricks to get to the second form and another seven to reach the third form. Of course, the storylines, Mystery Dimension, etc. will help with getting some additional gold bricks, but if you keep adding characters and new vehicles to already existing worlds, then the chance of running out of gold bricks goes up. Also realize that a lot of the already limited gold bricks are not attainable until you have bought some key characters from unrelated worlds of which you might not have an interest in (looking at you Chima). Hire a Hero can help in some situations, but in others, it often takes us more than 30 seconds to figure out how to get to it or the character has to do too much to achieve the objective in that time. In DC Comics, you have Batman w/ Batmobile, Joker with Helicopter, Harley with vehicle, Superman with vehicle, Aquaman with vehicle, Wonder Woman with jet, and Cyborg with mech. It would take 70 gold bricks to upgrade the gear, and currently DC Comics World has a max of around 28 gold bricks if I remember. That means you have to find excess bricks in other worlds (assuming you even had access to all 28 bricks on the level). Now, imagine adding even more DC characters! You would really have to pick and choose carefully what you want to upgrade.
  22. Excellent tavern inside and out! The characters really add to making this a fun scene. I also like how you did the trans colored parts on the hot dog and wine stands.
  23. I agree that the bottom level of the bakery looks a little off with the repeating sets of three windows. Maybe if it was one large window instead of three smaller ones? Also, I would leave one pretzel in the middle and take down the other two and use as part of the food offerings inside. With that said, it really is impressive in the larger size. The three turret concept works well, and the coffee shop building looks excellent as an enlargement. We will have to settle for one AS here, but that is OK. One is certainly better than none! Ours sits in a bookcase, and the top two bricks of the turret had to be removed in order to place it in the shelf.
  24. It seems like the first photo we ever saw of Benny's spaceship was from a Lego Movie book.
  25. It can sometimes take a few weeks for replacement parts to arrive, therefore I would not be worried at this time. Perhaps give it a couple of weeks and then make a follow up call if it is still showing to be in the warehouse.
