  1. The roof is almost hypnotic! The regular pattern with the offset looks really cool. And of course, dark green ftw! I can't tell what the design is in the ground-floor windows--is it a custom sticker or an official TLG sticker/printed part?
  2. Looks good enough to eat! The excess of frosting is the best part, it goes from being just a brown train to being a gooey sticky yummy treat. I happened to get a bunch of those tooth plates from the PAB wall also, although with no specific purpose in mind. If my local store ever has nougat/graham cracker color bricks in the PAB I'll have a reason to stock up now...
  3. I like the angles sweeping back across the wings, and I think you've used brighter colors (blue/silver) very well, nice blocking and balance. I feel like the black along the leading edge isn't quite right--it seems out of place with the rest of the ship somehow--but that might just be because of the rendering. Anyway, nice job
  4. Oh my, I saw this months ago but forgot to comment on it, and just now am seeing it again as if for the first time! I'll have to take look at the code you wrote when I'm at a PC. I'm shocked you did it with VBA--I'm kind of a noob at visual basic but I am trying to teach myself more, and I don't think I've ever seen anything like this. Really cool stuff you've put together here.
  5. Half the pictures don't show up for me. The killer wave is my favorite, though. The effect is really impressive, the lighthouse is so good with so few parts, and the color of the water is gorgeous. Those poor people. The reflection one is brilliantly composed, the shape of the village and the buildings with the overlooking church. Nice use of the new parts as well.
  6. The Mummy, the Brendan Fraser one.
  7. The irregular base on top of the mirror black base really adds some class to the build--which was already spectacular! The body, wings, and tail are all well balanced and adds some (fantastical) realism to the dragon.
  8. Fantastic review, @Captain Mutant! The text is clear and the pictures do a good job showing off parts as well as build techniques. Thanks for posting and linking here.
  9. Not a set I ever owned, but definitely one I ogled in the catalogs. I was fortunate enough to have a few other adventurers sets as a kid. I appreciate the nods to the older sets--the exposed studs, as has been said, and the play features like the emerging pharaoh. Well done
  10. I started lukewarm on minidolls--the lack of wrist articulation got me initially, but I got over that quickly enough. The next thing I got hung up on was the difficulty in customizing--Elves especially just repeated the same torsos, and Friends were too City for me (I prefer sci-fi or fantasy--very few Friends dolls fit the bill). Thankfully, more torsos have been introduced, including a ton of familiar but new Elves characters, so customizing is much easier--and the sci-fi end of things is being addressed with TLM2 sets, which is my long-hoped-for theme of Friends in Space! There is still a lot of ground to cover, and the dolls will probably never have the same breadth of customizability as the minifigure (due to the 'fig's decades-long headstart) but its getting better. I still like minifigures, and will still collect and use and customize them, but minidolls have worked their way permanently into my building patterns alongside the noble 'fig, and I'm glad to have 'em.
  11. That is fantastic. Thanks for posting some pics of the internal build and design, as well. Seeing how its all put together is a treat. The cockpit shape and design is really striking, and the color scheme is gorgeous.
  12. All of these models would fit right in in a Shop-at-Home catalog diorama from the late 80's. Fantastic work on all of them, the M-Tron walkers are my favorite.
  13. The house and garden are well-done, and of course the farmer's field in the back, but my favorite has to be the long black plume of smoke. So simple, but not a look I think I've ever seen.
  14. Nice work on the dragon! The colors work really well, and the body shape is great; I like how it looks somewhat uneasy on two legs, like it's rearing up to strike. The ruins are of course good as well.
  15. The figs have a lot of great details youve pulled from lots of different themes, but they all work together nicely. Obviously the trees and the portal itself are wonderful, but the figs are fantastic in their own right.
  16. Simple yet effective; the color scheme is spot on, which really makes it look like Rock Raiders.
  17. The photography is brilliant. I knew it wasn't really food, but my eyes kept wanting to believe it was until I zoomed in and gave them evidence.
  18. Over the past few weeks I watched ยก3 Amigos!, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and Thor: Ragnarok (all rewatches), and Mission Impossible: Fallout. I'd recommend all of them. I also watched The NeverEnding Story with my kids, first time for them but was a rewatch for me, but not really because it's been...25 years? since I saw it. If you're into cheesy 80's adventure movies for kids...well then you've probably already seen it. I'm looking at going to see Mortal Engines this week in theaters, but I've also got some visiting family going on, so it might not happen.
  19. I like it! The shaping is distinct and flows well. Also, the photos are great, which is a notorious challenge with black on black builds.
  20. You might have better luck with 2ร—3 wing plates rather than 2ร—4--the angle would probably fit the curved part better. Try adjusting the steepness to match the side. Honestly, it's a great design as-is, and judging from the huge response you've received so far ( ), probably as good a design as most anyone could suggest.
  21. I'm with the consensus here--I think this is TLG being overzealous with their brand protection. Which is probably why they are doing it, honestly. They probably expect to lose, also, but by picking this fight they are more clearly drawing where the line is. For me, the figures are pretty distinct, from their physical proportions and poseability to their expressions. Some of them, TBH, are better than minifigures. If I see some in the store I might check them out and see if they are any good.
  22. I get a bit of a WarCraft (I or II) vibe from this, which is awesome. The spiked palisade wall is really a nice touch.
  23. "I will not be drawn into another [castle] debate with you Dennis, I really will not!"
  24. Black Widow movie has its director, Cate Shortland. I've never heard of her, but I feel like Marvel has made good decisions in the past, so that's fine. Apparently it will be a prequel. Since Marvel has apparently figured out a way to retcon the existence of a pre-Chitauri alien invasion, I wouldn't be surprised if Captain Marvel (movie) pulls in a Secret Invasion storyline and Widow fills the role of Mockingbird. Not sure that would be her solo movie, but I'm interested in seeing if that comes together at all.
