[MOC] Return of the ADVENTURERS
rodiziorobs replied to Graupensuppe's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
These vigs are great! The Tibetan shrine is probably my favorite, but I have to call out the great design you used for the palm tree. Its a pity it can't be built with those colors IRL! -
The base looks great, but the winner is the ship. The way you pieced the blocks of color together (the pink splashing against the black along the wings especially) is really well done.
-
I like the way you've use the tubing/elephant trunks etc to create the curved shapes at the bow. Also, the huge lantern looks great, I also like the gold details scattered throughout.

[MOC] Inspection Submarine: The Humpback
rodiziorobs replied to Sebeus I's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I like it! The attention to getting the shape just right is evident, and the solid blue color just...works, somehow. Looks like a research sub.- 5 replies

The details at this scale are impressive, and even if it should all be...grimier, it looks very true to life. The ship in particular is very well shaped.
-
woah! That is massive! The overall look of the scene is great, but the U-boat I think is the best, it looks very true-to-scale. I also had never heard of this story before, so thank you for sharing!
-
I like the exterior, but the interior is where I feel you excelled here--it seems to me like many builds of this type can't fit an interior, so the fact you have one is great IMO.

What was the last movie you watched?
rodiziorobs replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Finally saw The Last Jedi. The only strong opinion I have about it is that it was long, in a meandering, distracting way. Not one I'll likely revisit. -
This is impressive! I too would be interested in any updates, since I am also planning on building my Lego room into my crawlspace, with the exception that there will only be about an inch of space above my head when sitting down! I won't have all the display space, either. I have never seen the built-in trough idea before, but I gotta say I like it, and I'm still at the planning stage, so it's not too late to add one...

The seam between the wing and the body is really well integrated, and the striped colors across the body work really well; with any other color scheme it might look garish but the blue and black just...works. Also, all the little touches of trans-red are nice, very good work, thanks for sharing!

I like all of them, I'd like to have these all around my house like real plants. Even the eyeball plant you posted first

[MOC] Scrooge McDuck's Money Bin [GBC]
rodiziorobs replied to Great Ball Pit's topic in LEGO Licensed
Awesome module! It's too bad Scrooge can't actually swim in it, although then it would be a GSMcDC instead A great union of theme and function -
I was too late into the world for Classic Space, but Ice Planet is something I can get behind. This is sooo good. The theme fits like a glove, and your design is wonderful. My favorite unique detail is that feathering effect with the gaps at the edge of the wings. Another incredible ship from you, Bob, thanks for sharing!

I'll echo this, and the presentation is really clean. Well done

I'm not really a BH fan, but this one is just good--it tweaks the pattern just enough that it has more personality, and I would have recognized him without the title.
-
Great, now I won't be able to sleep tonight (not with that thing haunting my dreams! ) Very fun build!
-
The whole scene is composed very nicely, with great techniques, but your use of color is probably my favorite--the brights and darks make it lively without being too much, and the varied brick texture keeps the walls from being blandly gray.
-
Woah my mind is blown twice . I never would have deduced the lever base (but now I can't unsee it!), and the trimmed finger hinge is a brilliant part that should have existed for decades, honestly.
-
The whole castle is imposing, and the roof lines are very clean, which really helps it look very sharply built. My favorite detail is the red railing, which seems simple but fits in perfectly.

I have too many black 2xn slopes. When I got back in after my dark age, I bought the multiple copies of the MMV, which has a ton of them. Honestly, the only reason I have too many is that when I am rummaging I pull one out thinking it is a 2xn block, only to find it's a slope! Since they have the same underside and they tend to rest upside-down due to the slope, they get me every time. I tried to sort them all away, sequestering them to their own bin, but they still turn up with far too much regularity.
-
Ah! So that's it. I was looking at those thinking the helmet was brilliant, but could not figure out what piece was the thumb. I totally read the first bit in my "boxing announcer" voice btw, the intro is spot on.
-
The shape is great, particularly the way you've used color to help visually streamline the hull and separate the different parts, without looking busy.
-
I fully agree with @pombe on color (but understand why you wouldn't), kinda-sorta agree on weapons, and totally disagree on the minifig reclining. It's like a Camaro--you can't just make it taller so that you're not practically lying down, right? All in all, great little ship! Bring more things here for us to talk about!
-
This! I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but the theme here is really engaging. The almost art-deco curves, colors that work well--the magenta in the right measure makes it just *pop*--are all very pleasing, and the functions/features are the icing on the cake. Well done

What is your favorite LEGO-related song?
rodiziorobs replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Nice Mr. Devo's Lego scores are all great for some background noise, and I have found myself really loving some of his other movie stuff as well. For favorite, I quite like Beck's "Super Cool" from TLM2 because, well, I've been in the Beck camp for a long time now, plus the "lets-sing-the-credits-during-the-credits" bit scratches too specific of an itch for me to not enjoy it endlessly.
