  1. "...romping with Gate." Great vignette, as usual.
  2. The monochrome is an interesting touch that calls back to your original reference image. It keeps your eyes hunting for details like the great use of minifigures throughout the scene, or the design of the chairlift itself.
  3. I don't know the series at all, but the sheer size of these is impressive, plus the details like the black robot arm for a shadow of a smile, the long spindly fingers, and of course the hair--very representative of the genre/medium.
  4. Just now seeing this--I'm not really a brickheadz fan, but the Russian nesting doll idea is pretty cool, and the Halloween theme is great. I really like the way you've fit the pumpkin to the blocky aesthetic while also introducing some curves. It's a strange balance of creepy and chibi/cute, nicely done
  5. Agree! I feel like the soldiers and their equipment are great, but the details and tools in the back are top-notch! The drill press and the table clamp, as well as the bucket handles for tool drawers--such smart designs and parts usage, it really completes the scene. *and the baseboard heater. Just noticed that.
  6. Brilliantly put together, and great photos to show it off. I'm not sure what the part is for the face (Bionicle chest piece of some kind?) but it looks like it was designed specifically with this MOC in mind.
  7. That's a great study in parts usage! It looks like you used only a handful of different pieces, but they put off a really creepy, sinister vibe.
  8. What an original design! The asymmetry to the non-central placement of the cockpit, it's very striking while also being very good. I love so many of the details--the Tron disks for the thrusters is a nice touch, the exposed tubing, and the flat technic supports are all great--but I especially like the small cylinder builds with the binocular pieces. I've seen (and used) similar, but not like this or in this context. I know, it's a weird thing to go on and on about but I'm definitely gonna have to borrow that at some point.
  9. I agree, it's a clever build put together well. I always like seeing a new topic from you, because I never know what it will be, just that it will be worth it
  10. As others have mentioned, the aging and shaping of the hull are excellent. I also like the modern rigging, the bridge and the smokestack. Also, ypur first photo (with the sky and sea) is really well edited. "Ship does not float" This is a fantastic creation, I look forward to more!
  11. I think it looks fantastic, but I know if I bought it it would get recycled for parts almost immediately because there is a lot of nice stuff there. Unfortunately I also know that because of that price, I'm never going to get it. Not that it isn't worth it, but that's more than I'll let myself spend on a single set. So thanks TLG, but no thanks.
  12. Question about the immortal/mortal issue (brilliant idea by the way)--is immortal someone who has won any contest on EB or is it specific to previous Technic contests? This contest sounds quite challenging, I hope I can get something together. Thanks for putting the due date after the holidays
  13. Eh, the photo isn't that bad...I've been guilty of much worse. It is immediately recognizable as the MMV, but I love how you have expanded the tan house.
  14. I think the cottage is superb! The texturing is detailed without being distracting, and I think the clean look of the roof makes the build very cohesive. Great foliage, as well.
  15. I like the brambly nature of the trees, it helps it all look more overgrown, like the forest kind of swallowed up the ruins.
  16. Watched Netflix's Christmas Chronicles with my kids. Its a pretty by-the-numbers "plucky kids help Santa save Christmas and learn a few life lessons along the way" holiday movie, but I enjoyed it. Also: Kurt Russell Santa = Best Santa. I also watched All the President's Men, which I had never seen. I didn't care for the gratuitous language, but thought the movie was really well done.
  17. I think frontpaging a MOC from the last 2 to 3 weeks is probably good for any forum. Those who have seen it will still feel it's recent. I don't want to see EB become a place to spotlight MOCs only; there are others perfectly good places like the Brothers Brick that do exclusively that. EB, as a forum, could highlight some tutorials, reviews, and contests, to generate more conversation. I know that's tough because there are fewer active members to contribute that kind of thing, but that was what brought me (and I'm sure many others) here in the first place and made this a worthwhile place to check in at. I have more to add but need to get to work so I'll try and post later.
  18. Cloud is really well done, but I love the chocobo best; the feathered texture on the body, and the bandy legs are perfect. The pose makes it look like it's in motion.
  19. I saw this awhile back but never made it down to comment. So... Those sentinels: so menacing, its perfect. The lit-up shot is especially nice. Gotta love Wolvie staring them all down, too, undoubtedly muttering something to himself.
  20. Wow, I am impressed with the size and that you managed to fit all those details! I honestly like this more than the official set, well done!
  21. I think the idea is neat, and the details on the inside definitely tell the story of this MOC. If I had a suggestion, I would say that the outside is a little plain-- it's less clear that it's a food truck. But hey, that kind of thing can be hard to do without decals or something, so good job.
  22. Spider-Man 3. I believe I've already stated how I have a soft spot for a certain kind of bad movie; this isn't one of those. all I can say is thank heavens for the Bruce Campbell cameo.
  23. Gotta say I love the way you've built the elbow joint. I don't think I've ever seen its before but it's quite genius.
  24. Again, you astound me with your parts usage, and the bright colors really make the whole model pop. The details on the belt, the arrows in the quiver peeking under the arm, the cuff of the sleeve: it's all great (and the face!) You're an inspiration.
  25. Ahhh! I love a good alt-build and this is definitely a good one. Repurposing the tank treads for the engine is brilliant, and like Pep said, the separating nature of the little pods is a nice throwback. IIIIII...might just have to get this set now, there are some good parts on display I hadn't noticed.
