Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Syndrome is spot-on, and the Omnidroid tile is a nice touch. I can't tell, but it also looks like there might be some printing on the arm, near the elbow. Alice looks better than before, and despite the lack of accessories (even more printed tiles would have been nice), there are some great parts and particularly, hairpieces in this series. So far, for me: Syndrome Mr. Incredible Maleficent Ursula Stitch (just saw this movie for the first time last week, and now this is a must-have!) Mickey, Donald, and Goofy (for the eventual Lonesome Ghosts trio) Maybe Alice and Ariel, primarily for their fantastic hair Maybe Cheshire Cat Maybe Cap'n Hook Now...when do we get leaks of Series 2?- 4,155 replies

Location: F03 (Forring) Tags: Military Building, Spying **************** MANTIS military academy, Forring ...and so, cadets, that is how fleet maneuvering works, leading us to MANTIS' current position in northern Andromeda. Given the tenuous relationships between our corporations lately, MANTIS has not been able to perform full-scale military incursions. However, we must maintain our fleet ever-ready, even anticipating-- General Teague, I hate to interrupt you but this is urgent. What is it, Maynes? It's Blond. Agent Blond? Yes Sir. I'm on my way. Students, please read sections 10.2-10.5 while I am gone, Shearer you lead the discussion questions. I'll be back shortly. Colter are you texting in class?! **************** [ Well, sir, we've got the tracer back online, after Blond's signal blinked out. Looks like the Zoid ship made a gate jump, that's what caused the malfunction. So where are they? Do we know what has become of Blond? Still gathering that intel, General. But, I was analyzing the last bit of thermal imaging from Blond's report--the one that convinced the court to sentence Laszlowe--and things don't add up. How so? Well, the scanner picked up five signatures, all of them human. So? We know the Zoids had slaves aboard the ship at that moment, maybe there were more, and that's where the extra signatures came from. Except there were no Zoid signatures at all. Only human ones. Look for yourself. Well, I'll be. That certainly is odd. Yet even in his testimony, Laszlowe confessed he had been meeting with Zoid agents, so how can this be? I think someone has been trying to hoodwink all of Andromeda, Sir. Is Blond's signal live? Yes, Sir, but I have yet to completely decode the data packets. Well, keep on it, and let me know what you find. Good work, Maynes. Thank you Sir. **************** Class dismissed ***************** C&C welcome!

I like the shape of the cruiser, both at the nose and along the wings, and of course the NPU foliage. No problem

Welcome to Andromeda, TLC, and welcome to MANTIS! Sweet sigfig by the way. I understand the initial confusion at how the game works, but you'll probably get the hang of it in no time And of course, we're all here (both in the general thread and in the MANTIS private thread) to help out if you need. Most important is have fun! (And of course, MANTIS has the most fun, so you've come to the right place!)

Latest updates on LEGO set sales
rodiziorobs replied to gylman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
The Brick Fan just posted a list of sets marked to clearance at LBR stores in the US and Canada (and maybe the rest of the world, too). -

^I fully agree with this. Also true; however, I also acknowledge the power that branding has. Assuming the baton gets passed to some other character, Disney will work Indiana Jones' name into future titles somehow. A Harrison Ford-less IJ sequel would be, by definition, different than a spinoff (see below). Disney is not looking to establish a second brand alongside/complementary to the first; they are looking for an outright continuation, which pretty much necessitates that they keep the Indiana Jones label. (Hence my suggested title above.) As for spinoffs, the most successful ones tend to come from some secondary character who is popular enough that they overshadow the main character/theme, or become a theme unto themselves. For example, the Minions spinoff from Despicable Me. Gru got a sequel, but the bubbly yellow mischief-makers became their own brand enough to succeed without him. It was kind of a happy accident for the studio that they got a second brand out of the first. You know, the more I hear the name Amazon Rex the more I like it...

LEGO Ideas Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Your post exactly sums up the situation, and why Ideas doesn't prohibit any licensed IP projects or explain why each was declined. Licensing agreements include all sorts of strange clauses, among them often an agreement that does not allow publishing details of said agreement. -
The thing with Capt. Picard/Capt. Kirk is that the series name is Star Trek. Anyone can inhabit the role of a captain and the series stays the same. However for Indiana Jones, the name of the series is the name of the man. If a different adventurer takes up the quest, the series and the entire franchise changes. Gone is the name recognition, the brand, and the ties to previous adventures, unless they shift the franchise into something like: "Indiana Jones Adventures: Amazon Rex and the Horseshoe of Destiny". That kind of branding works, I guess, but you can see the inherent problem with a series like that versus Star Trek.

It seems like in the past leaked images, if already widely available, have been somewhat tolerated. However, in recent months--IIRC, since about the time that CM4Sci posted his sketches of the Nexo Knights prelims*--that EB has begun to crack down and show no tolerance for leaks. I don't have a problem with that. EB obviously wants to keep on TLG's good side, and perhaps the stricter enforcement comes at TLG's request. Besides, if leaks are on the Internet somewhere it's not like everyone else can't find them--or won't see them eventually anyway. *Not to say that CM4Sci's sketches caused the crackdown, it just seems looking like that was about the time I started noticing the trend.
