  1. This is a wonderful build. I also think you strike a good mix of realism and abstraction, humor and somber reflection. Really nice details throughout, and a nice presentation of all the modules together with those viruses floating around. Great build.
  2. The GT40 is incredible! And the Cobra ain't bad either! I think the Cobra could use a little more rounding up front, but what can you really do at that scale? I'd snap up both of these in a heartbeat if they were official sets available for purchase. ... and it may just be worth the Rebrickable/Bricklink effort.
  3. Very nice. Pretty solid rendition of the Delorean at that scale, and the fact that is can seat both minifigs along with the rest of the details is great. Good Time Train as well with it being close to system scale. Your stickers fill in a lot of the look and details nicely. Great build!
  4. This is wonderful. The concept and execution are both excellent, and it's a great write-up about Ruv'i and the whole situation. All the aspects of the build are suitably alien but still recognizable and relatable. Great build!
  5. Wonderful! That clearly the obvious alternate build for that set.
  6. That's cool. Especially given how small it is, there are a lot of nice details worked in without it being too busy or over-done. I really like the small kiosk on the right; really well executed with very few pieces and adds some nice additional visual interest. Great build!
  7. Welcome to EB, Jayney! Love your creative maker spirit, and sounds like you've come up with some really interesting things. I look forward to seeing some of your Technic MOCs sometime; those motorcycles (at least the working one) sound spiffy. Happy building!
  8. Magnificent, in design and execution and the thoughtful additions to the instructions and brick lists! Bravo!
  9. Welcome to EB, RosehipDeity! Plenty of inspiration and discussion for you here on all of those themes. Looking forward to seeing some of your MOCs. Happy building!
  10. Welcome to EB, Bella. Happy building!
  11. Looks great! The snout and mouth came out so well with those sausage pieces, and the overall shaping is nicely done. Great build!
  12. Welcome to EB, TeddytheSpoon! Your fellow Lego nerds are happy to have you in our company. Happy building!
  13. That was very pleasant indeed. That transition with the leaf was fun! Thanks for sharing.
  14. That is indeed ridiculous in the best way. Definitely didn't see that twist coming, and you've done a great job integrating everything while still keeping the ship interesting and not just an obvious box built around PC components. Great build!
  15. Motley (but excellent) looking crew! I don't know why it never occurred to me, but the crew wearing shorts are great!
  16. Welcome to EB, Aaron! Looking forward to seeing some of your creations. Happy building!
  17. From a "gut feeling" standpoint, sure. As a business reality, 1-3% is reasonable, due mostly to the factors Mylenium noted. Also, I've heard comments from a couple of designers that make it clear that the 1% equates to 10's of thousands of dollars even for a lower-volume ("less successful") Ideas set, and I doubt most people selling their own instructions make anywhere near that amount so it again doesn't seem unreasonable from that standpoint. Agreed here. I mean, maybe for a few months if there are some legal issues with the set being misconstrued to be a Lego product due to the Ideas exposure, etc., but not 3 years. You know what I'd say? I'd say let them sell immediately and from a link posted on the Ideas project page, and Lego gets a 1% cut themselves! That actually seems like it would be a win-win. Disagree. I don't see how rejecting it sooner would be more "ethical," and by rejecting it earlier on those grounds Lego would basically be revealing internal development info that they probably don't want made public. I'm sure that's why they still let the project go through the process even if they're likely to reject it for that reason. Here again, however, I think the designer should be able to pivot immediately to selling a kit or instructions. After all, if Lego comes out with something very similar and people would still prefer to buy instructions from the designer, that's fair competition and all on TLC's head. Eh. This works both ways - hard to prove timelines and such, and if it truly was an independent design by TLC and a coincidence, then it's not "fair" for them to have to reduce their earnings becomes someone else had a similar idea. But as you said, I think it does go back to the point above and that the designer should be able to sell their instructions immediately and see how they do against the official Lego set. I think /something/ for the designer might be in order, however, as they basically provided TLC with additional market research data from the supporters who liked their project. Maybe a reasonable lump-sum cash payment and signed copy of the official set or something like that just to show some good will.
  18. This is lovely. Those micro/midi-scale ships (and aircraft) are very well done, the pictures on the wall are a nice touch, and the characters/snipped of story really make the scene. The element choice for the whiskers is a little distracting, but definitely adds some interest to the character design. Great build!
  19. Welcome to EB, Saman! You're in good company with the many train enthusiasts here. Happy building!
  20. Quite an impressive result, and some wonderful effect you've worked in there. The blast from the cannon, the posing, etc., are all great. I think it's interesting to see how relatively basic some of the scene is from the overhead shot (the terrain, for example) and how much it's brought to life with the different angle and lighting. Well done!
  21. Welcome to EB, Rich! And welcome out of your dark ages! Happy to have you with us, and happy building!
  22. This is wonderful - I don't even know where to start! I like the part of the castle perched on the rock, the sweet (steep!) stairs cut out of the rock, and the various cozy, well-detailed interior spaces. And of course the modular build so you can get to everything is ver well done, too.
  23. Simple but effective technique for those freshly-dug graves.
  24. That's lovely. Interesting technique for the bay windows. I especially like the chocolate fountain and the well-stocked shelves!
  25. LOL. That's great.
