I'm afraid I'm going to have to go with the silver R2 as fake. It seems less plausible than the resignation. Steve

I kind of know how you feel. I felt the same way, building the town plan set, because I'd seen it up close and personal in a display at the Lego store. It kind of ruined some of the excitement. I didn't have the same trouble with the Green Grocer, even though it was similarly on display, because it was out of stock and I had to wait a week before I could actually build it. So the memory of the display had faded. That being said, I'd look at your situation this way, if playing with the set at your cousins really ruins all the fun of buying the set, then you don't need to buy Star Wars sets. Then you can put all that money into buying the really [much] cool[er] non-Star Wars sets (like the Green Grocer, Castle line, Indy, etc.). Plus, its like you get a hands-on review of all those sets. So you won't be wasting your money on a crappy set. You'll only buy sets that are truly worth it to you. You get to experience twice as many sets that way. Plus, if there is really a must-have piece in one of those sets, you don't have to buy that set to get it, just swipe it from your cuz. Steve

I imagine a line like this would be similar to Vikings. So I'd guess we'd see: Amitheatre/Colleseum/Hippodrome for ~$100 Fort for ~$50 Siege Engine/Catapult/Balista for ~$20 Trireme for ~$20 Soldier Training ~$10 Steve

Mine were the very first two pirate sets released: The Harbor Sentry (with a shooting cannon no less) and Burried Treasure They were both available as a special pre-order for members of the Lego club. Steve

For a while, certain yellow things were meant to depict gold. Like the 1x1 round plates and gold goblets that were in Castle treasure chests. So I used lots of yellow things to represent gold. Following TLC precedent, I also used 1x1 transplates (both square and round) as jewels. Now we've got a lot of truly gold treasure pieces (i.e. goblets, coins, plates, armor, helmets, swords, crowns, tiles, etc.) and actual jewel pieces too. Steve

I want to know who the peeping-tom in the tree stump is and/or what he is doing. Steve

I wonder how much of this is an April Fools joke, if any. Do we have any confirmation of these sets? I must have missed it, if we did. Why a silver R2? Darn it, I was hoping for a new torso mold... *wub* Is this the joke? If not, that's a shame. Steve

Excellent! This is just what I was looking for, as I'm hoping to make a MOC to go with the Cafe Corner style sets. Steve

I don't consider B'Omarr Monk or the Gonk Droid or the Mouse Droid or the Buzz Droid or the Pit Droid minifigures. I also exclude the animals, because to me, a minifigure is representation of a human-type being. Basically, I'd go with the following definition: "A lego creation that: (1) is generally and substantially similar to the classic minifigure shape and design; (2) substantially relies upon the classic minifigure pieces; and (3) in its final form substantially resembles an anthropomorphic form." Though this would exclude R2, which I would propose we grandfather in. Steve, who thinks we should develop a whole Napoleonic Lego Code...

I like the idea of having it be something that doesn't require a lot of participation. I also like the idea of basing it on the current Castle line. Steve

I [over]heard from an employee at a Lego store, that in the pictures on the back of the green grocer box, the lady with the Umbridge hair, is running away in every scene, because she discovered everyone has her same face and she is scared. Steve

Adventurers & Vikings (combined, at the moment *wacko* ) Indy for purchases to supplement Adventurers. Castle, of course. And the Cafe-Corner buildings. Steve

Cool. They should do a miniland scale Egypt scene. Steve

I noticed that. I'm glad I'm not the only spastic person who can't put stickers on right. I even got my movie poster stickers on crooked on my Town Plan set. And I was being really careful too. *wacko* Gah, how I hate stickers. |-/ Steve

Probably waiting until you've been here a while and have built up some credibility would help. You'd probably also want to get permission from the powers-that-be. I'd also talk to people who have done ones before, like TinyPies and the Brickster. I'd also suggest really thinking it out and making sure you've got the whole thing worked out, so it doesn't fall apart. And also to make sure you're ready for the commitment. Because if you do it and it turns out poorly, no one will want to join your games again. Just my thoughts, Steve

No reason to be sorry, I'm just trying to stir up trouble, as evidenced by the: ;-) :-P Steve

Decoding Lego Hieroglyphics
Athos replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
TheBohrok at classic-castle reports that the glyphs on this piece spell Lego. Steve -
Wow, I thought this was going to be a simple standard game of mafia. I didn't realize how complicated it was. Now, I'm kind of glad I didn't get involved. Steve

I don't know how well that would work. It would be really tough to build six small sets that would combine into a larger set, while still keeping the small sets as stand-alones depicting action scenes, which I think would have to be a prerequisite to any set. I say this, because: (1) if they are not stand-alone then they will sell less, because few parents are going to be excited about buying something that is clearly incomplete and requires an additional $100+ investment to complete; and (2) if they are not all action packed, then there are going to be an awful lot of The West Wall of Theed Palace left on the shelves. Steve

Would this not also count as a negative topic (albeit regarding negative topics)? ;-) Steve

The torso designs are great. As was pointed out, they're very much Star Trek the Motion Picture. If there is a second run of these, will we get the snazzy red uniforms from the rest of the movies? I'm just disappointed that they're stickers, because I'll never get them on straight and then the figures will look silly. Steve

Does that mean you're going to rip a Wookie's arms out its sockets? That's quite a reversal... :-P Steve

Guess those SBDs had better start paying their gambling debts... :-P Steve

I agree there is a lack of structures. Though given the subject matter, it is understandable. There isn't a lot of structures that can be done well in Lego, because they are too big. Plus a lot of the structure related scenes are expository scenes, without much action. And what kid really would want an X-wing hanger? That being said, I think a Ewok Tree House Village would be possible. Maybe a Wampa Cave. A Death Star playset may be possible too (though I'm not sure that would count as a structure/base). And maybe a Lars Homestead. Steve
