  1. So your familie has some kind of fireworks shop or company Mr. Tiber? Do you have a website?
  2. Maybe call it Cutthroat Island like in that great pirate movie. This island is really something different than the ships and fortresses we have been seeing lattely (not that I don't like to see ships and fortresses, keep them coming ;-)). Very refreshing! My English is also not so perfect, but I hope I'm getting better at it.
  3. There are still some acceptable themes today. But not great themes like pirates (and classic castle). I don't understand it. Lego still has the technologie to make good stuff. Well, good that there is ebay and bricklink to buy those old sets. Can you give us an idea of your plans for the future Mr. Phes. An attactive website as a portal to the pirate forum would be a good start. Here we can have links to the different MOC ships, harbors, fortresses.... Give some news on what is under construction and put some MOC on special display. It will of course take time to run such a site but it will attract new fans... I'm always available to give a helping hand...
  4. I think they are intended to be doorways, but you're right, they are a bit low. However, I like the concept and I'm thinking of a way to make them better to use them on my ship.
  5. Some other details that I like about this ship are the "doors" to the lower deck. Maybe they are not high enough, but they look very good.
  6. Can't really provide inside on building a port/fortress since I never build one. But this looks like a good start to me. I hope to make one some day but it won't be soon... You should change the flag however, since you are using the red imperial guards. Or maybe there is a story behind the presence of the blue flag?
  7. Since you are new to the forum I'll give you 2 links for thread were these questions are addressed in great length: Imperial Guards: Bluecoat and redcoat uniforms, who they really are! Napoleon and his army

Oh no Mr. Phes. I only do that with my minifigs, not with actual persons. I always hope there is a fellow pirate fan near to my home. Belgium is not so big.
  9. That pirate ship has to be pretty big if it must be able to challenge that flagship of yours. What do you mean with something different?
  10. Indeed, there are some knife marks when you watch it from very close. But I think I should use another type of knife (less sharp) to avoid this a bit.
  11. Danilo has published on his brickshelf-folder the instructions of his ship.
  12. I'm not following here. Who is Tiger? What is this horrible pun you are mentioning?
  13. Now I understand. Mr. Phes is shaving in this picture Yes Sir! I held that little head in my hand while scraping it with a razor sharp knife |-/

Honesty should count for something, isn't it? In which Belgium town do you live Mr. Tole?
  15. Now that I see the actual pictures I'm impressed. This is in my top 5 of my favorite harbors. My ships would be happy to come here :pirate4: You have a good number of those beautiful imperial guards in the garnizon. Do you have any plans for future projects now this is ready?
  16. They are in the Armored Car Action set (7033). My grandmother gave me this set a few years ago.
  17. His email-address was in the BS-folder. Didn't know he was already as EB member. I plan to contract him soon to ask some questions about this beauty.
  18. Ahhh. A real pirate you are. Not shaving. But then who is this nicely shaved person?
  19. Hi Dan, it is nice to have you here! Judging from your brickshelf folders you are a long time pirate fan. You have enough material to have some interesting discussions in the future. The gold ship is overwelming. Never did I see so much lego-gold.
  20. Is that some kind of acid? Can you work very precise with it, to only remove the parts you want? Never heard about it...
  21. Just like you would shave yourself, with a sharp knife. Don't tell me you are using an electrical shaver... They didn't like me anyway :capn:
  22. On CC is saw a discussion on altering the faces of minifigs. So tonight I did a first test and gave these 2 guys a facelift by using... a sharp knife :skel1: : The result: Nicely shaved X-D Some examples (not by me): King Leo before shaving and after shaving The unusable face of Harry becomes midshipsman Harry without glasses
  23. 14b This ship was mentioned in another thread, but it really deserves a better display. On the brickshelf folder was following information from the builder (Piglet): "She has 24 cannon banks, but only 9 cannons due to lack of navy funds, 3 masts and 3 decks". I like the fact that it is a big ship with 3 decks and it still looks rather flat and has a great line! When I make my "big ship" (after finishing the Excalibur), I plan to use some of the same techniques. The stern castle doesn't destroy the line of the ship and it has a big quarterdeck. The only negative point are the colors, but this is compensated by the rest. Here is a view of the complete ship: He used a nice technique to make the hull wider and didn't use the standard hull-mid-sections: I'm going to imitate that bell for my ship :-) The balcony is perfect integrated: The anchor mechanism: The lift: The entire gallery contains many pictures and some nice details of the ship.
  24. Thats amazing! I enjoyed watching the pictures. How do you start building such a castle? Do you make some drawings/plans first? How much time did it take from design till result?
